this a must stop in hillcrest. as someone who gets lots of mexican food, this is top tier in the area. food was fresh and delicious and our server was great. should have a line out the door. p.s. if you’re vegetarian, you can ask to add soy chorizo to any meal
This place is a hidden gem. In San Diego Mexican restaurants are on every other block and mostly good meals are served. I ate at almost every one but this place is completely different. The food is off the charts. Margaritas are made from scratch. The owners husband and wife team welcomed everyone as if they are family. Bottom line best recommendation I can give. I love this place.
They have the fresh tostadas with cheese sauce that is killer. All their food is really flavorful and consistently good. I highly recommend margaritas out on the patio to start.

Huapangos offers great food with large portions. The breakfast quesadilla is fantastic! The charming decor might be a little noisy. The family-owned restaurant has friendly staff, excellent service, and an enjoyable atmosphere. Whether you sit inside or outside, it's a great place to give a try. The owner and staff are very welcoming, making sure guests have a good experience. The restaurant provides a nice ambiance with very subtle music, allowing for easy conversation while enjoying delicious food. The menu features authentic Mexican dishes like the lobster burrito, enchiladas, birria tacos, and JT Sandwich, all praised for their flavor and quality. For brunch, the bottomless mimosas and Sangria with orange zest are highlights. The restaurant is known for its fresh, flavorful food and attentive service, making it a fun and satisfying spot for families and groups.
