“The best food I've had in San Diego. Get there early or else you're gonna wait in line for 1 hour only to find out they ran out of something truly delicious. The tortillas taste exactly like they came out of Mexico ?? BUSSSSING. Can't wait to find a reason to travel to San Diego again just to go eat here“
“We were looking for a local place, a hole-in-the-wall, to try some fresh and good tacos…and Oscar’s did not disappoint! It’s a small no-frills joint with flavorful tacos. We ordered the fish, shrimp, and smoked fish tacos. The smoked fish tacos is a MUST! The mixed ceviche was fresh and delicious. They offered a free sample of their fish soup when we were there - I would’ve ordered a bowl. It was so good! and oh so good ?“
“The tacos here are awesome. Very unique flavor combinations. Some more traditional than others. The service is a little weird. You order at the bar. The bartender took one order, then stopped and made drinks, then another order and so on. They really need a dedicated person for orders. The food came out fast but then nobody ever came back to check on us. The lowest tip option that wasn't "custom" was 18%. That's a big tip for almost zero service. The drinks were just ok. Nothing special. Next time we're going to stick to the tacos.“
“Quaint hole in the wall but a jewel in the rough. Known for their birria but made excellent veggie tacos. Despite its size, it has one of the best salsa bars around. I highly recommend it for both Togo and in person eating!Vegetarian options: Veggie tacos were large, fried, and had really good ingredients!“
“La Central Birria has excellent service, food and reasonable prices. The birria tacos and consome were very tasty. The quesadilla was served on a house made tortilla. Miguel was so friendly and made it a great first-timer experience. I will definitely be back.“
“We had an absolutely amazing meal and experience at Mati’s!! Dora made us feel right at home. We got the chilaquiles verdes and birria fries and they were both UNREAL! If you are looking for a great spot to eat with not only amazing food, but an amazing experience, get over to Mati’s!!“
“Arrived at 12:45 on Sunday, 4/14. Waited 30 minutes to order, then waited another 30 minutes for the food. So if you're in a time crunch, consider this before going. That said, the staff was working hard and was friendly. And the smoked fish tacos were delicious. I look forward to eating here again.Parking: Parking near the shop is difficult as the restaurant is near the beach and alongside several other shops. You may have to park a few blocks away.“
“Customer service was excellent and they strive for each customer to have a personalized experience. A little tricky to find because of the one way streets but I wouldn't count it against them. Otherwise food was great and we'll definitely be coming back when we're in downtown!“
“I've been going to Mariscos MI Gusto Es for over 10 years! Everything on their menu is Delicious. My personal favorites are the tacos de Gobenandor, Marlin Tacos and their Cockteles de Campechana..It's family owned and operated❤️Arturo and his wife are super friendly and always greet you with a smile?“
“Nice to little cafe inside the TD America building. I got the French toast special with both sausage and bacon. And then my friend got the waffle special. Everything was excellent. Eggs were scrambled perfect, sausage was flavorful, bacon was meaty and flavorful, and the French toast and waffles were both very good. We will definitely be back.“
“My favorite was the beef roll tacos. They tasted ? good. The torta was ok. The bread was crispy and it had a good taste. The meat was average. The price for these two items was almost $20. The cashier was friendly. We ate inside the dining area was clean.“
“We had a craving for REAL street tacos, specifically quesabirria and we were not disappointed! We ordered: chicarron, shrimp and asada Street tacos (all very delicious) and a couple quesabirriaThe place was super clean, and the patio area outside was super cute. Staff was very friendlyWe will definitely be back when we are in town! A short bike ride from the beach. We are so happy we found authentic tacos!!“
“We were treated so well here! The service was wonderful! Chips and guacamole, battered shrimp tacos, carne asada tacos, quesadillas all DELICIOUS!!Kid-friendliness: Extremely kid friendly! Made to order tacos off menu to accommodate our little one. They ensured a very kid friendly experience all around!!! 5-stars!!“
“This place is beyond amazing! Not only LOCAL and FAMILY owned and operated, they do amazing work for the community. The food is absolutely delicious too! This is a wonderful place to visit by yourself, on a date, with family or friends, or meeting to with colleagues!“
“Carne asada taco, sope, and shrimp roll taco plus a modelo michelada. Yes please! The flavors of meat and sauces plus the corn was so tasty. Local SD review…Flor’s is an old town Mexican favorite now. A lot of restaurants are here in Old Town just because town needs Mexican food for tourists, but this is honestly top tacos in San Diego. My daughter even commented “these tacos taste like the ones in Mexico!”The atmosphere and seating were comfortable and family friendly. Beer cups available with homemade chamoy and tajin. Recommend it!“
“Well I can say it's an experience to go here! If you're looking for a lively fun yet uniquely different experience come to Baja Betty's order one of their unique drinks and you will see what I'm talking about. The food was fast the drinks were great and when I say strong I mean STRONG!“
“While in La Jolla, our group decided to stroll over for a meal. This eatery is nestled in a lovely area. The wait time and prices were typical for the area. However, the food was exceptional. I opted for a burrito and a Jarritos soda. The burrito was generously filled and tightly packed. Additionally, they have a sauce bar in the back.I would certainly return; it was definitely worth the price.“
“The food was excellent. The service stood out as amazing. Six out of five stars. I asked for a sample of the Molé Poblano to taste, and they brought me all four. This is above and beyond and much appreciated. All four moles, by the way, were amazing. I had the Chile Relleno , and it did not disappoint. The margaritas were really good as well. The decor and ambience was cool. All of the walls are clear shelves with tequila bottles all over the place. Very cool.“
“Great breakfast burritos for a good price. Been here many times and they always hit the spot. Plus they make a smaller like half size one that my wife likes to get so she doesn't have to have a regular one since they're good sized.“
“If you're searching for a dining experience that feels like coming home, look no further than Mi Ranchito. From the moment you step through the door, you're welcomed with open arms and a heartfelt "welcome home" from the owner, Maurice! His warm and friendly spirit sets the tone for an unforgettable meal.We had the pleasure of trying the chicken quesadilla, the fan favorite #3 lobster burrito, and the fish taco, and each bite was a delightful explosion of flavor. The food is not only delicious but generously portioned, ensuring you leave satisfied. With an extensive list of seafood options, there's something to please every palate. But what truly sets this place apart is the genuine care and attention to detail provided by Maurice and his team. It's evident that they are passionate about creating a pleasant and enjoyable experience for every guest!!! My family of 3 loved this place and will definitely be coming back!Vegetarian options: There are various vegetarian burrito options!“
“Fantastic brunch, great service. This is on my must come back list.I've listed my dinner pics here. I definitely have to say that brunch is better than dinner. Service is definitely slow in the evening, not as quick and organized. Items don't come out in a timely manner. Still a fav of mine, though. ;)“
“Came in looking for a fried fish taco but their grilled fish taco was off the hook. Wasn't necessarily looking for ceviche but ended up trying their verde sauce shrimp ceviche, it was flavorful and spicy. Definitely coming back. Service was phenomenal, super friendly. The place is small and parking may sometimes be a little challenge but worth it to come and enjoy this pace.“
“First time at Kikos, I had high expectations and I wasn't disappointed!! I took recommendations from them on what to order. The OG fish Taco is very good and the Chingon burrito with chipotle sauce is ??!! Spicy shrimp Taco was also pretty good!!“
“On our last night we wanted a relaxed Mexican meal so headed to La Puerto at 560 Fourth Avenue. On arrival we were offered the worst table in the place. We requested a booth, which they didn’t want to give us one so we sat at the bar.The waiter was a lovely chatty guy who said he originated from Warrington. For drinks, we ordered cocktails. I had a Whole Lotta Love. This was La Puerta’s hand crafted house Margarita made with Reposado Tequila, Agave nectar and fresh lime.My husband had the Low Rider. This was La Puerto’s Cadillac Margahita made with Anejo Tequila topped with a blend of cognac and orange liqueur.I have to say neither of them were particular strong. There might have been some watering down going on.For food we ordered…Mix ‘n’ Match Signature Street Tacos. This was a combination of three tacos served with refried beans, rice, rajas con crema (sliced poblano pepper with cream), cotija cheese, limes. The tacos we selected were:Carnitas, my personal favourite. This consisted of slow roasted pork, guacamole and pico de gallo.Ranchero Shrimp, which was sauteed shrimp, ranchero sauce, cabbage, cilantro and crema.Pollo Asado, which included grilled chicken, guacamole and pico de gallo.Along with this we also had Pollo Asado Fries. These were really tasty loaded fries known as Papas Fritas La Puerta. Topped with Cotija cheese, jack cheese, grilled onion, poblano, crema, guacamole, pico de gallo and cilantro. The icing on the cake was the mixed in grilled chicken.“
“Very trendy place in Barrio Logan. Our waitress was awesome! It was 6 of us and she helped pick some tasty drinks to get our girls night out started. Came here in a Friday night, it was pretty busy but we had reservations so they sat us quick!! Good place to just drink and have fun!“
“Friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. It is a bit hidden so go to the end of the little mall by the tattoo parlor. The smoothies rock - the best fruit combos and very filling sandwiches!Wheelchair accessibility: Handicap spot right in front“
“The food here absolutely amazing! The quality and amount of food you get is so worth it. The salsa absolutely 10/10 the breakfast burritos 11/10. Not only that the customer service tops the whole experience off everyone was so kind. If you're in the area make sure you stop in you won't regret it.“
“This place is delicious! Been a few times and the staff is always friendly, food comes out timely, and all the food is delicious. Most of it feels very healthy as well. The lattes are very good, in addition to the breakfast burritos, garden avocado toast, smoothie bowls, and more! Plenty of vegetarian/vegan options but also options to add eggs!“
“Loved the place, the food. Table was not ready at our reservation time but we got accommodated to the bar which we de used to start with a cocktail which were great. After being seated the service was excellent.. forgot my servers name but he was great, as well as the person who passed by serving water. Quality of the food and flan, 10 out of 10“
“Service and food are excellent. I can't get enough of their breakfast/lunch menu - specifically their huevos cazuela and the spicy tuna quesadilla. Both have tuna perfectly seasoned by axiote/achiote. You are missing out if you don't try it.“
“Some people have told me that gas station Mexican restaurant food is superior. After this trip the El Costeno, I would be tempted to agree. There are lots of options that can cater to all sorts of eaters. The owner who was inside was incredibly nice, and talked me through the chorizo breakfast burrito I was hoping to get, letting me know that it's his grandma's recipe. It's a beautiful thing to carry on somebody's legacy through food, especially when grandma knew what she was doing. The chorizo in the breakfast burrito is cooked with onions and serranos, whose char imparts a smoky flavor on the meat and egg. The tortilla was warm and perfectly stretchy, the cheese melts its way through the other ingredients, and the beans velvety and not overpowering. Well seasoned! I ate my Al pastor taco in their outside seating, which was humble, sunny, and lovely. The taco itself was also fantastic. Nice pieces of pineapple throughout, tender meat, bright yet unaggressive onion moments, and a nice avocado salsa on top. My own subjective side notes: dude was hella cool in there, I like a pastor taco without the avocado salsa on top cause I like to taste that sweet juicy meat (my preference) speaking of which, I could have used a little extra salt on (no big deal though). Overall super tasty, I would highly recommend it. One probably needs about half-3/4 of a burrito to fill up, prices very reasonable. Thank you for the great experience!“
“Ocean Beach's hidden gem! We have been here twice and both times the food and experience were top notch. When you are in the area you "have to" stop in! They have spicy food AND they have special order. The chef made me the brightest, freshest grilled shrimp tacos with shredded cabbage, onions, cilantro, tomatoes, wrapped in corn tortillas and sprinkled with fresh lime juice. So good! The music was super fun too. Someone's play list was in point; old school jams the entire time. So glad we saved room for the made to order churros and vanilla sauce! When you visit, ask to sit in Jennifer's section. She is so attentive and knowledgeable.“
“Second time there but first time for dinner. Everything amazing, food, service, ambiance. We got there 10 min early and were seated almost right away. Only problem was the state of the restrooms. I didn't go but husband did and he was mortified at the state of the restrooms. Smell was so bad we did explain this to our server. We paid and left and server went to check but we didn't stick around to find out the outcome. It was a near perfect to our dinner plans to celebrate husband's birthday. I don't know if he wants to return in the near future or next visit. Sadly it was that bad, hope they fix this.“
“Had a snapper taco (special) and a bottled Mexican Coca Cola. It was so so good. I saw a complaint about the prices ($6.50 taco, not bad compared to Portland, OR prices). The fish filet inside was nearly an entire serving size, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Tons of fresh avocado and cilantro. The service was friendly and fast. I would 100% recommend. Don’t miss the bottled sauces in the fridge.“
“Seriously yummy! Great prices, huge menu and consistant excellent quality.Just visited again and after 6 years, the place is STILL just right!Excellent, fast service and really good quality ingredients for a quick and inexpensive Mexican Food fix.HUGE MENU WITH TONS OF OPTIONS.USD is up the hill, so you know there's some picky palates. No more salsa bar, but the same good food and casual but quaint atmosphere.Just 5 minutes away from beautiful Mission Bay, which is where the picture was taken. Free parking, picnic tables AND trashcans AND a public restroom nearby(at Mission Bay Park, just across the 5).Parking: Tight parking lot shared with 3 or so other businesses. No huge vehicles!People don't stay long, so I have never run into not finding a spot. Just a tight lot.“
“This place felt like an oasis with the greenery, high ceilings, and open concept. The pancakes and carnitas sounded interesting, looked better, and exceeded all of my expectations. The portion is huge, so don't expect to finish and just ask for a take-out box.“
“OMG genuinely amazing. We stopped in for the first time craving ceviche peruano, and decided to try this place. Mexican style and SO refreshing and delicious!!!!!! We will be back to try everything on the menu. Really really was so fresh and flavorful and tastes so healthy. Definitely worth the $16, got the bowl of fish ceviche to share for an afternoon treat and we were surprised at how satisfied we were after.“
“La Fachada Taco is the real deal when it comes to traditional, authentic tacos. I was blown away by how generously they fill their tacos with meat - every bite is a hearty delight! This isn't your average taco joint; it's a place where tradition meets abundance, and the flavors are as genuine as they come. If you're in search of an authentic taco experience with no skimping on the fillings, La Fachada is your go-to spot. Truly impressed!“
“Taco Centro is an outstanding taco shop. Delicious tacos with fresh ingredients can be seen in preparation. They are efficient and keep the shop super clean.I love the vegetarian options- nopales and mushroom. The salsa bar has lots of delicious options.Love it every time!“
“Local food truck doing it right! This place is a gem. Been there about 7 or 8 times and it's always a good time. Usually get the fish tacos or the birria ramen, and take it.next.door to the Whistle Stop to have a beer while I'm eating. All the locals in South Park love this place and it's for good reason.“
“Birria and tacos excelente taste. Had an order ir meaty birria and I enjoyed every drop. Tortillas and fresh condiments are a big plus. Perfect amount, no waste of any of them. I will certainly go back again. First time I taste the northern Mexico real flavor of Authentic birria .Kid-friendliness: Unless your kids are well behaved and don't run around, you can enjoy outside dinning if available. It is a busy street and parking small plaza, not little kid friendly.“
“Visiting San Diego for a conference and had a wonderful dinner at Coasterra! Margaritas are amazing and the scallops were delicious. Do not usually do dessert but had the butter cake and it did not disappoint! Our waiter was Kyle and probably none of the best waiters we have ever had. He should give lessons on how to be a badass waiter and how to give real service!“
“Love SoN's! First time at this location, sat at the bar for drinks and dinner. Service was good and drinks were tasty!! Birria Enchilda's were good with egg on top but birria tacos probably would've been better to not over power the dish. El Mercado Salad with grilled chicken was fantastic if you're wanting something on the lighter side. We'll for sure be back.“
“My girlfriend and I wanted some real micheladas with all the flavor and we got them here, too rich auntenticas , beautiful service and when we saw some churros come out of course we craved and ordered, and wow what rich churros. Beautiful service,we will definitely come back, from key west, greetings and thanks again.“
“Came in from AZ and looked up Mariscos in the area… we were skeptical about a food truck, but Kikos did not disappoint!!! We had grilled shrimp burritos, shrimp cocktail, fish tacos, Gobernador tacos and burritos, and carne asada. That was the best shrimp burrito I’ve had in years!!! Well def be back, thank you ?“
“Got adventurous in San Diego, stopped at a local owned Mexican restaurant. The food is fantastic!! Like your eating in someone's home. Thick Handmade tortillas, everything was very authentic. Very homey atmosphere, they speak both Spanish and English super friendly. Smells fantastic when you walk in. Seating inside and some outdoor. Must try you won't be disappointed.“
“Cali Craft Tacos has been our "go to" catering for our events. Great service, great decor, and amazing taste. All our guests complement us on the food. We've used them at least 5 times in the last couple of years and will continue to use them! Thank you!“
“Best burrito I have had in San Diego. The shrimp and steak were marinated to perfection and packed so much flavor. It was the first time I can remember loving the burrito so much that I didn’t use any hot sauce. Also, draft beers were $2! That is insane.“
“I have been a lover of Puesto since it's first opening in San Diego at Seaport Village. Since then, I've frequented the locations in La Jolla and Mission Valley. The Mission Valley location is the best of the three, by far. Not only is the atmosphere wonderful but so is the staff. Particularly, I must mention Ricardo, who has been one of my favorite waiters there. He is attentive and makes you feel like family. You can tell he enjoys his job. I'm there almost every Tuesday for Taco Tuesday and it's mostly because of him. The food is fantastic and so are the Puesto Perfect Margaritas! Highly recommend!“
“Truly the best birria taco I’ve ever had combined with wonderful service and hospitality makes this a must visit for anyone in San Diego, even if it’s out of the way.We got the combo with 4 different types of birria taco and all of them were spectacular. The queso and chupacabra were my personal favourites but I’m not sure you could go wrong with anything here. Two tacos will fill you up. Four will make you ready to burst at the seams. The birria is so tender, juicy, and flavourful without being overseasoned (which is one of the pitfalls a lot of these places have). The consommé is to die for- spectacularly flavourful, rich, meaty, without being overly fatty. You could really drink it as a soup. Get the agua fresca to wash it all down and to help cut through the richness of the birria.Even leftover hours later, these tacos were absolutely incredible. What’s telling is also when cooled, you don’t see the standard layer of fat you might see on the consommé from other places. Really high quality stuff from people who have been making this for clearly a very long time and who have it down to an artWe were also the only foreign people there but they were extremely friendly and patient with explaining each of their choices and their recommendations. Really a super warm, family run place that deserves all of its incredible accolades.“
