The service is absolutely excellent! And it is not bad at all to enjoy your omakase on the patio. They have an under table heater so you won't feel cold.???

Parking is only street parking.

This humble looking Japanese restaurant is actually a Michelin One Star.

The only way to make a reservation is via their reservation partner. They will send you an email notification like two hours ahead of your reservation.

However, you have to really "fast hand" to confirm your reservation. If you are like a sloth, you will never be able to complete your reservation.???

And, they will charge a despite of $50/ person when the reservation is confirmed.“

This place is a true hidden gem—though not so hidden anymore! There's almost always a line stretching the length of the restaurant, and on busier days, it even spills out the door. But don't let that deter you—the line moves quickly, and the wait is absolutely worth it.

The seafood here is incredibly fresh and delicious, all at very reasonable prices. You simply can’t beat it. We’re particularly fond of the cioppino, mahi, and shrimp, though honestly, everything on the menu is fantastic. I could easily list every item they offer!

Do yourself a favor and visit this spot the next time you're in the area. You won't be disappointed!

Kid-friendliness: Our kids love it!“

“We sat at an outside table so I can't comment on what it would be like sitting inside. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we were there. We had not realized that the restaurant did not have a liquor license so we were initially disappointed about that. The menu had a good variety of crudo to choose from and our server was helpful in answering our questions. Everything we ordered was very good.“

“I absolutely hate fish! But not this fish. My Mom dragged me here to try the fish and chips. OMG, the breading batter is absolutely amazing! Every bite melts in your mouth without having a fishy taste. I have since returned a few more times, and recently today with my wife. Every Tuesday, they have $3.⁵⁰ fish tacos. These are literally the best fish tacos ever! Sorry, Rubios. I ordered two, but I was plenty full from eating one. And to top everything off, they have a STUBBORN SODA machine with my favorite fountain drink, Pineapple Cream soda. The staff is very nice and accommodating and the store was very clean with plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. Parking is always available in the massive shared parking lot. California Fish Grill is definitely one of my new favorite eateries here in San Diego. I wish there was a location closer to my home in Pacific Beach. Hands down, a 5 star rating from me!“

“The food was delicious. We are on vacation and wanted to find a place for Mexican seafood. The menu was very unique so they were very helpful in asking questions. The viejon taco was amazing as were the guacamole, smoked taco, pork belly taco, and grilled taco! Would definitely recommend. Very clean restaurant as well with friendly staff!“

“This place is the best! We’re from Colorado and we found this place three years ago when we were visiting. We’ve dreamt about their fish and shrimp tacos ever since, so we make it a point to stop by whenever we’re in San Diego. This last trip was no different. We even went twice this year because they recommended their garlic and butter fish and shrimp tacos and they’re to die for (along with everything else we’ve had). While they do have outdoor seating available, we ate in our car because we had our pup with us. When we went back, they even said they remembered us. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming, the place is clean and the food is tasteful. We just wish they would bring their truck to Denver so we could have them more often!“

I had Enchiladas Divorciadas & they were excellent. Others had carnitas which they enjoyed. One person had a combo plate with a carnitas enchilada with mole sauce & a taco. Yummy food!“

“man oh man. this place has some real soul to it. as someone from the south it definitely reminded me of home. i had the chicken wings, greens & mac n cheese and everything was FIRE. a few critiques though..

Food: maybe add a little more meat to the greens and a tad bit more salt to the mac.
as far as the chicken & cornbread though? don’t change a thing about it! 39/10. ( also props to yall for adding hot sauce to the bag )

Atmosphere: with it being a takeout only (at least when i went) i’d suggest maybe putting some tables & chairs since there’s none outside. it’s a nice view of the area so people might want to sit down and eat or just sit down while they wait on their food. maybe play some soft music too!

Price: okay so i got a niceeee handful of wings, probably close to 10, & the 2 sides which totaled up to around $29.03. while i do think that’s a bit pricey for one person, the portions and QUALITY of food makes up for it. so take that for what it’s worth.

also.. i did i order the blue lavender lemonade but i forgot to get it and didn’t realize till i got home 🥲. nonetheless, i will be back in the future and to my melanated brothas and sistas, if you needed a sign to try this place, take my word for it!!“

“In town from out of State and had lunch here yesterday. Didn't know Sizzler was still around. I will say, the place was modernized and had a decent menu selection. Great salad bar! Fish and chips were tasty. Steak and potato was decent.

We had a fabulous waitress, Chante. I am giving 4 stars across the board because: It was quietish (2p) the tables could have been cleared/wiped down better. When we sat, Chante immediately came to wipe down the table (something I felt a bisser should have done aftwr clearing the table). The manager, while very nice, also forgot to give me my tip money (not a huge deal, I went back to ask for it. But a tiny ding for that). Had a great time catching up with family and nobody rushed us out. Chante came to bring us hats for ice cream, which was a nice surprise. All in all, a nice place for a quick catch up and tasty bite to eat.

P.S. Maybe a little more attention to restrooms also.“

“Live right up the road and have driven by a few times and figured I'd try them out and was not disappointed. Ordered a Surf and Turf Burrito and my friend ordered a Cali Burrito. Mine was insanely good and came out super fast and my friend enjoyed his as well. The prices were reasonable and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very welcoming. You get that "family owned and operated restaurant" vibe which is nice since I can't find many places like that in SD. Lucky to have this place right down the road from where I live.
