“The cashier recommended the taco platter because i was so overwhelmed by the complete plant based ingredient menu, I didn't know where to start, do I really enjoyed the taco platter with tree variations of the taco ingredients ,all plant based that completely out did any conventional Mexican food i had ever had, and the energy i felt afterwards was great in comparison to wanting to pass out from food coma“
“LOVE this restaurant!! Great food served by an excellent crew. Had dinner here one night, back for lunch the next day. Out of town tourists that wished we were local.Parking: Maybe quick free parking at the bank. Street parking was difficult.“
“Quaint hole in the wall but a jewel in the rough. Known for their birria but made excellent veggie tacos. Despite its size, it has one of the best salsa bars around. I highly recommend it for both Togo and in person eating!Vegetarian options: Veggie tacos were large, fried, and had really good ingredients!“
“We had an absolutely amazing meal and experience at Mati’s!! Dora made us feel right at home. We got the chilaquiles verdes and birria fries and they were both UNREAL! If you are looking for a great spot to eat with not only amazing food, but an amazing experience, get over to Mati’s!!“
“Arrived at 12:45 on Sunday, 4/14. Waited 30 minutes to order, then waited another 30 minutes for the food. So if you're in a time crunch, consider this before going. That said, the staff was working hard and was friendly. And the smoked fish tacos were delicious. I look forward to eating here again.Parking: Parking near the shop is difficult as the restaurant is near the beach and alongside several other shops. You may have to park a few blocks away.“
“Our party of 4 went on a Thursday night and we were seated right away. There were seats at the bar and 2-4 person high and low tables. Because it’s in Hillcrest, we had a rough time looking for street parking- ended up finding a spot a couple blocks down.We ordered from the Specialty Tacos list: Steak and Bones, Bad to the Bone, and El Presidente. The tacos were surprisingly large!*Steak and Bones: full sized grilled rib eye tender steak slabbed on a corn tortilla— definitely can’t eat it like a normal taco*Bad to the Bone: fall-off-the-bone beef rib on a corn tortilla*El Presidente: 3 large pieces of garlic shrimp on a corn tortilla— so good!We also ordered the *Steak and Bone Fries and the *Steak and Bone Nachos. These 2 were just okay for us. The nachos were crunchy but these were smaller portions served on big plates which made it look underwhelming. Our server was attentive and service was pretty quick, considering how large the meats were.I’d come back for their Specialty tacos!Parking: Paid street parking only (free after a certain time). Difficult to find a spot especially during night time.“
“Exquisite presentation and flavor! I was lucky and ordered the New Yorker craft taco; it contains New York, steak, thin, sliced, poblano, Crema, and chili de arbol; that means a little spicy. Highly recommended! Because items are prepared per order it takes a few minutes a preparation time; so be prepared for the wait. It is worth the wait for excellent presentation and flavor.“
“We were treated so well here! The service was wonderful! Chips and guacamole, battered shrimp tacos, carne asada tacos, quesadillas all DELICIOUS!!Kid-friendliness: Extremely kid friendly! Made to order tacos off menu to accommodate our little one. They ensured a very kid friendly experience all around!!! 5-stars!!“
“Carne asada taco, sope, and shrimp roll taco plus a modelo michelada. Yes please! The flavors of meat and sauces plus the corn was so tasty. Local SD review…Flor’s is an old town Mexican favorite now. A lot of restaurants are here in Old Town just because town needs Mexican food for tourists, but this is honestly top tacos in San Diego. My daughter even commented “these tacos taste like the ones in Mexico!”The atmosphere and seating were comfortable and family friendly. Beer cups available with homemade chamoy and tajin. Recommend it!“
“The food here absolutely amazing! The quality and amount of food you get is so worth it. The salsa absolutely 10/10 the breakfast burritos 11/10. Not only that the customer service tops the whole experience off everyone was so kind. If you're in the area make sure you stop in you won't regret it.“
“Had my daughter’s 18th birthday. I booked Thomas and I couldn’t be more happier with my decision. The food was amazingly delicious. The homemade tortillas was the reason I booked him but the rest of the food was so delicious. My guests kept stalking about how good everything was, and even asked for his card. He came with all the trimmings and I didn’t have to do anything.Thomas and his wife Maria were there in time and very professional.I can’t wait to book him for my next party.Thank you Thomas from a very happy customer!“
“Local food truck doing it right! This place is a gem. Been there about 7 or 8 times and it's always a good time. Usually get the fish tacos or the birria ramen, and take it.next.door to the Whistle Stop to have a beer while I'm eating. All the locals in South Park love this place and it's for good reason.“
“Located on Logan Avenue in the Barrio Logan neighborhood of San Diego, this small restaurant offers delicious, authentic tacos. We enjoyed the swordfish tacos and coconut battered shrimp tacos. We also enjoyed the Coco Pudding with fresh berries We were disappointed that they did not offer to go options because we wanted to take our food to watch the sunset. They were out of a couple options we wanted to try. We arrived at 6:30ish p.m. and found a parking spot in front of the restaurant.“
“Great Mexican restaurant with a large selection of delicious dishes. They even have authentic Mexican sodas and in-house made juices.Dietary restrictions: They have a large menu to accommodate any dietary restrictions. I don’t eat pork or eggs.“
“As a Moroccan who lived most of her life in Morocco and the rest in baja cali. I love to come to this place and eat their food. It really makes me feel home and I love the taste and every bite of their food especially the hot Moroccan tea. I highly recommend this “
“Cali Craft Tacos has been our "go to" catering for our events. Great service, great decor, and amazing taste. All our guests complement us on the food. We've used them at least 5 times in the last couple of years and will continue to use them! Thank you!“
“This is a straightforward authentic, California Coast style taco shop. I got the Al Pastor taco and a cheese enchilada and both were delicious and higher quality than you would expect from small taco shops. As an example, the included beans and rice were quite fresh. Would swing by again.“
“Came here because other reviews mentioned they are famous for their fish tacos. So glad we did. My husband got the Baja fish tacos and said they were good. He would rate them 4.5 stars. I got the mahi fish tacos. They were perfect. The fish fell apart when eating it but didn’t crumble- It was cooked perfectly. Also got the Friday special of oysters. Literally cannot beat the price, $6 for 6 oysters! The oysters were not “cheap” either in regards to quality. Our waitress said they were special ordered. Not sure if they are always ordered from the same location but we had some from BC and they were fantastic. It did take a little while for anyone to take our order. It was seat yourself but order taken at table. However, when we did finally order, our food came out very quickly afterwards. In the meantime we were able to enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean on the outside balcony.“
“This place is delicious!!! I was impressed with the service and quality of the food! Tacos El Gordo and Ahumaderas is a 1 out of 5 compared to this place! I didn’t even know this place existed until family members came from out of state and we looked for a good taco place. Their carne asada and adobada is DELICIOUS! The agua frescas are so good and the churros yum yum yum! You must try!“
“If you're like me, from somewhere else and you are looking for the perfect taco experience, look no further. This isn't my first time, and this time, I sorted it sorted by actual customers. I walked in because the group of ten dudes looked local and it seemed to be their spot.I ordered three tacos al pastor. The nice young lady behind the counter asked if I wanted to mix it up and suggested the asada. I decided to take the suggestion and made it four tacos instead. What came out, and quickly at that, was beyond my wildest street taco dreams. The recommended beef was the most flavorful taco meat I have ever had.It was less than $20 and the four tacos were almost too stuffed with meat, it was held in by a wrapper I had never seen before, but there were no complaints from me.I felt like I picked the best place.“
“So good we came here twice (so far) during our stay in OB. So many options for flavors! The tortillas are super fresh. I had the carne, who knew mashed potato would slap on a taco?? shrimp, pescado, chile relleno, mahi, kids quesataco (a taco sized quesadilla) and a couple others.. all were awesome. The vibe there is open air family friendly with games and plenty of seating. (We got our food to go both times) It's quick and casual and was within walking distance to the beach. Good drink selection too, though we did not order any either time. I fed myself and two teens + dessert for about $40 so you can't beat that..“
“Absolutely delicious tacos - very unique tastes and the fresh tortillas are awesome! It is not authentic but it is yummy! we enjoyed everything we got! Our favorites included the Crunch time Shrimp taco, Chorizo Asado, Mexicali tacos, Guacamole & chips and you can’t forget the Churro!! The salsa were also great - we loved the Sala Aguamole the best. Definitely recommend !“
“A very good taqueria in San Diego. The atmosphere made you feel like you were in a Mexican taqueria, the music, the staff. They make the tortillas on site and that changes the whole experience. I highly recommend the tacos al pastor. They have Mexican beer and Mexican soft drinks. I never recommend ordering tacos to go because they will become soggy and ugly. You have to eat them there. Highly recommended.“
“These are some damn good tacos! I got the pollo and al pastor, and the al pastor was better. Both were excellent but the pork had a better flavor than the chicken. I'm normally a pretty picky eater but the whole bite was great and worked extremely well together.“
“The Taco Stand is a remarkable taco shop that sets itself apart not only with its exceptional food but also with its welcoming atmosphere. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted with a warmth that feels both inviting and genuine, making it clear this place is special. The highlight for many, including myself, is their salsa bar. It offers an impressive variety of options, catering to every palate, from the mildest flavors to those that challenge even the most seasoned spice aficionados. This selection enhances the dining experience, allowing customers to customize their meals to their exact taste preferences. The burritos deserve a special mention. They are generously sized, packed with flavor, and expertly constructed. My girlfriend chose the Asada burrito, and it was a hit. The meat was tender and flavorful, wrapped in a soft tortilla with just the right amount of fillings to complement, but not overwhelm, the main ingredient. It was, without doubt, a dish that would make us return. For those with service dogs, The Taco Stand proves to be incredibly accommodating. My service dog was immediately made to feel welcome, with staff providing water and attention, ensuring he was comfortable and well-cared for throughout our visit. This level of attention to all guests, human and animal alike, is a testament to the establishment’s commitment to customer service. The Taco Stand offers a delightful dining experience. With its excellent food, particularly the standout burritos and salsa bar, along with its inclusive atmosphere, it’s a place that not only feeds the body but also the soul. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, it’s a spot that shouldn’t be missed.“
“Nates is great. There is normally live music, so be prepared if you plan to sit outside. I find the older I get, the more I want to tell people to turn things down. My 10th grade English teacher used to say "decibels" when we got too loud. I hear her voice in my head so much now. If you're old and ornery like me, it is much quieter inside. There is a decent amount of seating inside or out, so you should have options.I mostly get the French toast plate. I always have leftovers. I've tried a few of the ornery dishes and have yet to complain about anything. The bathrooms always seem tended to. The staff is nice. I enjoy talking with them while I pretend to be confused about what I'm going to order. You know how we attempt to try and expand ourselves. Try something new. I know I'm going to land right back at the French toast, but I make the effort. There is a garden store attached. There are a few animals, goats, Turtles, tortoises and such. There are also plants and flowers. It's nice to walk through after eating. Pretty ambiance to enjoy after eating. You can get a little walk in.“
“The adobada is a must try when you're here! I got one but I suspect I should have gotten two... and maybe the adobada fries. I will be back! It's a bit confusing for your first time, but the security guards are great at directing people into the respective meat lines to order. If possible, I would also ask for extra onions and cilantro since they seem to skimp on this a bit. Ambience: I can see how it gets busy in here, by the time I was done with both meat lines I was able to snag a seat by the window counter. Everyone I interacted with who worked there was friendly, patient and helpful.“
“Probably the healthiest grab-and-go option on the beach! Service was fast and friendly. The ceviche was delicious and fresh. The inside of the restaurant was cute and clean, but it's so close to the beach that I found a bench with an ocean view to eat at. I want to try the shrimp tacos next.“
“I love this place. Their rolled tacos is delicious and made with fresh ingredients. The worker Carlos is so nice and friendly and always answer any questions. And I love that this place is all gluten free so my husband doesn't have to worry about cross contamination. This place is amazing!!!“
“We just checked this place out for the first time as it is our first time in San Diego visiting from Oahu, Hawai'i. We never tried Mexican food here in California and OMG so yummy. We tried different other tacos. And omg 10/10!!! Also, the older lady who helped us she's super nice and explained what were in the tacos. We love it most definitely will be back when we come back to visit!!! I didn't get a chance to take pictures and digged in right away. Haha“
“This place is authentic, delicious, fast, and affordable. Everything you could ever want in your neighborhood Mexican place, and much better than some over hyped places like tacos El Gordo or Oscars. The location is a bit sketchy, but like come on... Isn't that where the best Mexican food is? And like when I'm done eating, you can feel it on the way out the next day if you know what I mean, but that only adds to the excellence that is Humerto's! But actually though, I wouldn't overdo it on their salsa as it can be quite spicy.Overall, I'd absolutely recommend this as a go to quick take out place for authentic and cheap Mexican food!“
“Definitely think the service could take this over and above. For being a staff that appears to also have extra people bus food would think requesting chips salsa refills for drinks etc would be bit quicker turnaround. Love scene, classy and chic with yummy food including the grilled Tiger shrimp fajitas or anything with those shrimps are must order. Also love the queso, sucker for good queso.“
“One of the few places in Old Town for our family's late flight into the area. Our party of 7 sat outside, under a heater. We enjoyed drinks, a delicious meal, and conversation without feeling rushed. Our waitress was just the best!! She knew the menu well and recommended drinks and meals. Thanks for a great start to our family's visit!!!“
“Ordered the Wet Birria Tacos with everything on it and despite the sizes of them being small (see lime for scale), they pack a punch for flavor so get extra! The service was speedy, and they were super gracious with explaining how they work. Their being Zabiha halal (view their instagram) is a great way for everyone to eat and I can't wait to see what else they do with their food.“
“Yes, we get it, there’s tons of homeless people outside. What do you expect, you’re in a trolley station in DT, San Diego. Lets focus on the taco shop though. Prices are great, staff is fast, really friendly, and patient considering the type of customers that come inside and food is good. I often get the roll tacos or the cali burrito and they never disappoint.“
“The Quesabirria & consume is FANTASTIC, and it was $4 cheaper than other places. The reviews did not lie about how flavorful the food is. Best taco truck meal I’ve ever had & I’ve had nothing but good experiences at food trucks.“
““a dozen oysters, your 3 best tacos, and small side of fries pls”they gave me these ones (see pic) but the specialty tacos are like $8 now which is pretty equivalent to what you expect to get for $24 these days anywhere considering the high fish qualitylocal pitchers on deck“
“Wanted to try out their tacos because I will be hosting a bridal shower for my daughter in June. Wasn’t able to try the carne asada as they were currently out. Tried the chicken, pork and shrimp. Very good. Sauces also good. The homemade chips were excellent! Definitely in the running.“
“The tortillas were fresh and homemade the ladies were making them at the counter as you're walking in. The meat in the tacos was good, except for the barria & quesabirria which were very chewy. The quesabirria was quite greasy and not crispy at all on the outside. The carne asada burrito was fresh and full of flavor .“
“I had the Mahi Mahu sandwich with a side of calamari. Hands down most delicious I've had in a really long time. I gad the sandwich without sauce, but the garlic butter sauce on the side and the sandwich was phenomenal without the sauce, but even better with it! 10 out of 10 recommend and will go back anytime I'm in Point Loma!“
“Best best best taco shop in PL. Family owned and operated, so I’d highly recommend supporting this small business. The family gives their employees like 2 weeks off for Christmas and I can definitely get behind that as well. Well deserved. Don’t go anywhere else. You can taste the quality and pride of ownership here.“
“This place was awesome! Great beers, good price and excellent staff. Nikki is by far, one of the BEST beertenders I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Truly hostiplable and personable. She, in combination of the fantabulous beers makes it ver worthwhile of the visit. Definitely will go back!“
“I don’t know who gave this place lower than 5 stars but it couldn’t have been because of the food. It’s THE best taco joint I’ve ever been to. And for someone raised in AZ and then spent about 4 years in both SoCal and NorCal, I know what I’m talking about. I had three tacos and chips and salsa. It was almost more than I could eat and I was hungry! Here are the biggest things for me other than the taste of the meats. They literally have (at least) six different salsas. The two brought out with the chips were a green one with cilantro and chunks of avocado. Not spicy enough for me but loved the make up. The other red one is probably in my top 3 salsas ever. The right amount of spice (I like spicy) with great taste and garlic! The other four salsas were decent that came out with the tacos, but for me, the fact that they have six salsas to choose from. Are you kidding me? Great job on whom ever came up with this! Knocked it out of the park. Oh, and btw, Cali beats AZ in overall Mexican food. Just sayin…“
“Hello everyone,This was my first time eating at Taco Surf. It was a good experience. I would have appreciated just a little more patience from the cashier...especially since this was my first time eating there and I let him know (there was not many people in the restaurant or behind me to have given a few minutes to explain). Overall great food, reasonable prices. I plan to return in the summer.“
“Great food overall! Everything was booooomb. I don't remember my full order but I would recommend the shrimp tacos for sure plus the chorizo and poblano. The asada taco was a little too basic for me but I can't say I didn't enjoy it.“
“The ratings and Daniels video with the size comparison of the food to the canteen lead me to come here. Glad we did, it did not disappoint. Carne asada didn't have gross fat trimmings and the guacamole was plentiful. The daily specials are also helpful when on a budget. Best taquitos we've had in many years. And they actually have pickled carrots. Not many restaurants do that anymore. We will return! Thanks Cali's & Fries, don't ever change!“
“They are right outside a liquor store in a parking lot, which I love. Honestly, when I saw that, I knew I had to try them. They are open everyday starting at 5pm. They have a large variety of food options. We tried the asada and adobada. Probably the best weve had so far. It's very difficult to find good authentic tasting tacos in the U.S. in my opinion. These were so good that we're going to come back. They are family run and they are very nice.“
“I was on a plant based diet this day and was excited that I saw a menu photo on Yelp offering plant based options. Unfortunately when I showed up, the guy said they got rid of that and no longer have that menu.Since I was already here, I opted for side order of avocado corn salsa and Brussels sprouts. My fiancé got clam chowder. Other plant based side options would have been roasted corn, asparagus, green beans, or fries.Bummer I couldn’t try an entree but the sides were filling and satisfying. The Brussels sprouts were actually better than what I’ve had at fancy restaurants. It had the char and perfect glazed and seasoning. The avocado corn salsa was fresh and flavorful. I like the thin crispy chips. Will need to come back another time when I’m on a regular diet.Vegetarian options: Only the side items“
“I was recommended this place from a cousin in law and it did not disappoint. I tried their hard shell tacos and my boyfriend ordered the California burrito. The California burrito is ? . Before I headed back home we tried their breakfast burritos and it was delicious! It is a huge size too. I’ll definitely recommend this place and wouldn’t mind coming back when I’m in town.“
“Truly the best birria taco I’ve ever had combined with wonderful service and hospitality makes this a must visit for anyone in San Diego, even if it’s out of the way.We got the combo with 4 different types of birria taco and all of them were spectacular. The queso and chupacabra were my personal favourites but I’m not sure you could go wrong with anything here. Two tacos will fill you up. Four will make you ready to burst at the seams. The birria is so tender, juicy, and flavourful without being overseasoned (which is one of the pitfalls a lot of these places have). The consommé is to die for- spectacularly flavourful, rich, meaty, without being overly fatty. You could really drink it as a soup. Get the agua fresca to wash it all down and to help cut through the richness of the birria.Even leftover hours later, these tacos were absolutely incredible. What’s telling is also when cooled, you don’t see the standard layer of fat you might see on the consommé from other places. Really high quality stuff from people who have been making this for clearly a very long time and who have it down to an artWe were also the only foreign people there but they were extremely friendly and patient with explaining each of their choices and their recommendations. Really a super warm, family run place that deserves all of its incredible accolades.“
