“The cashier recommended the taco platter because i was so overwhelmed by the complete plant based ingredient menu, I didn't know where to start, do I really enjoyed the taco platter with tree variations of the taco ingredients ,all plant based that completely out did any conventional Mexican food i had ever had, and the energy i felt afterwards was great in comparison to wanting to pass out from food coma“

“Quaint hole in the wall but a jewel in the rough. Known for their birria but made excellent veggie tacos. Despite its size, it has one of the best salsa bars around. I highly recommend it for both Togo and in person eating!Vegetarian options: Veggie tacos were large, fried, and had really good ingredients!“

“Very good service. They treated us very respectfully and attentively during our stay. The special tacos are quite large with a price of $10 each and the mini tacos or street tacos are $5. Their drinks are delicious and fresh fruit waters even more so. Beers in variety. I was satisfied with a specialty taco and 2 street tacos. The place is clean and quiet.“

“Arrived at 12:45 on Sunday, 4/14. Waited 30 minutes to order, then waited another 30 minutes for the food. So if you're in a time crunch, consider this before going. That said, the staff was working hard and was friendly. And the smoked fish tacos were delicious. I look forward to eating here again.Parking: Parking near the shop is difficult as the restaurant is near the beach and alongside several other shops. You may have to park a few blocks away.“

“Found this place while strolling through Old Town. Picked it for the high reviews, and not disappointed at all. The lady at the counter was very helpful and friendly. Atmosphere is great! A few indoors tables, but also lots of outdoor seating. The street tacos were amazing, very flavorful, with just the right amount of heat. Food was quickly delivered, hot and fresh. I wish this place were closer to home!“

“Local food truck doing it right! This place is a gem. Been there about 7 or 8 times and it's always a good time. Usually get the fish tacos or the birria ramen, and take it.next.door to the Whistle Stop to have a beer while I'm eating. All the locals in South Park love this place and it's for good reason.“

“Must visit if you are in the area. These tacos are DELICIOUS! Don’t expect a quick Taquería, these tacos are made to order with care. The corn tortillas are soft and clearly handmade, the fish has the perfect ratio of meat to crisp, and the slaw toppings are extremely thoughtful and unique.Big time recommend!Vegetarian options: Have a mushroom taco that is delicious!“

“Love the atmosphere here, everyone is quite happy. The food is fairly priced, at least for this area. Salsa bar is nice. Baja taco is my favorite, one of the best fish tacos I had so far. The carne asada has good flavor, but a bit tough for my taste. Maybe it just my luck today. Will come back for more.“

“I actually went to the hot dog stand. They have bacon wrapped hot dogs just like in Tj with mayo, mustard, ketchup, tomatoes, and sautéed onions. The onions were perfectly over sautéed which made the hot dog very good and to my liking. You can say authentic Tj street dogs are served here. Can't wait to go back for their street burgers.“

“Nates is great. There is normally live music, so be prepared if you plan to sit outside. I find the older I get, the more I want to tell people to turn things down. My 10th grade English teacher used to say "decibels" when we got too loud. I hear her voice in my head so much now. If you're old and ornery like me, it is much quieter inside. There is a decent amount of seating inside or out, so you should have options.I mostly get the French toast plate. I always have leftovers. I've tried a few of the ornery dishes and have yet to complain about anything. The bathrooms always seem tended to. The staff is nice. I enjoy talking with them while I pretend to be confused about what I'm going to order. You know how we attempt to try and expand ourselves. Try something new. I know I'm going to land right back at the French toast, but I make the effort. There is a garden store attached. There are a few animals, goats, Turtles, tortoises and such. There are also plants and flowers. It's nice to walk through after eating. Pretty ambiance to enjoy after eating. You can get a little walk in.“

“This is a straightforward authentic, California Coast style taco shop. I got the Al Pastor taco and a cheese enchilada and both were delicious and higher quality than you would expect from small taco shops. As an example, the included beans and rice were quite fresh. Would swing by again.“

“Al Pastor Town truely lives up to their name as they offer 5 unique types of Al pastor meats and more. I was there when they opened at noon and got the Al Pastor Roio Burrito.Service was pretty slow but the staff were great. Eventually, I got the burrito and took the most blissful first bite. The burrito was packed with meat where every bite caused juices to come gushing out and cover every taste bud. Just when I thought it couldn't get better, I tried using their 2 sauces: salsa verde (not very spicy) and what I think is mango habanero (spicier). The owner really played matchmaker because the burrito and the sauces was a complete match. 5/5 I'll need to come back and try the rest of the flavors.Atmosphere was great imo but is not for everybody. The place is inside a mart and is not really a place to sit down and dine.“

“5 stars for food- the food was fresh, authentic and delicious! 5 stars for cleanliness- tables were quickly cleared and salsa bar spotless) 5 stars for quick service, fresh food ready in less than 5 min. And most importantly 5 stars for the employee (manager?) Who reminded my friend and I that we were great mothers after a horrible customer and person berated us for letting our kids play with a salt shaker(which we cleaned up) while waiting for our food to be up. He also brought the kids stickers and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience despite the customers negative comments which he had no control over. This meant so much to me and there is no doubt that we will be back!“

“Came here because other reviews mentioned they are famous for their fish tacos. So glad we did. My husband got the Baja fish tacos and said they were good. He would rate them 4.5 stars. I got the mahi fish tacos. They were perfect. The fish fell apart when eating it but didn’t crumble- It was cooked perfectly. Also got the Friday special of oysters. Literally cannot beat the price, $6 for 6 oysters! The oysters were not “cheap” either in regards to quality. Our waitress said they were special ordered. Not sure if they are always ordered from the same location but we had some from BC and they were fantastic. It did take a little while for anyone to take our order. It was seat yourself but order taken at table. However, when we did finally order, our food came out very quickly afterwards. In the meantime we were able to enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean on the outside balcony.“

“So good we came here twice (so far) during our stay in OB. So many options for flavors! The tortillas are super fresh. I had the carne, who knew mashed potato would slap on a taco?? shrimp, pescado, chile relleno, mahi, kids quesataco (a taco sized quesadilla) and a couple others.. all were awesome. The vibe there is open air family friendly with games and plenty of seating. (We got our food to go both times) It's quick and casual and was within walking distance to the beach. Good drink selection too, though we did not order any either time. I fed myself and two teens + dessert for about $40 so you can't beat that..“

“If you're like me, from somewhere else and you are looking for the perfect taco experience, look no further. This isn't my first time, and this time, I sorted it sorted by actual customers. I walked in because the group of ten dudes looked local and it seemed to be their spot.I ordered three tacos al pastor. The nice young lady behind the counter asked if I wanted to mix it up and suggested the asada. I decided to take the suggestion and made it four tacos instead. What came out, and quickly at that, was beyond my wildest street taco dreams. The recommended beef was the most flavorful taco meat I have ever had.It was less than $20 and the four tacos were almost too stuffed with meat, it was held in by a wrapper I had never seen before, but there were no complaints from me.I felt like I picked the best place.“

“The Taco Stand is a remarkable taco shop that sets itself apart not only with its exceptional food but also with its welcoming atmosphere. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted with a warmth that feels both inviting and genuine, making it clear this place is special. The highlight for many, including myself, is their salsa bar. It offers an impressive variety of options, catering to every palate, from the mildest flavors to those that challenge even the most seasoned spice aficionados. This selection enhances the dining experience, allowing customers to customize their meals to their exact taste preferences. The burritos deserve a special mention. They are generously sized, packed with flavor, and expertly constructed. My girlfriend chose the Asada burrito, and it was a hit. The meat was tender and flavorful, wrapped in a soft tortilla with just the right amount of fillings to complement, but not overwhelm, the main ingredient. It was, without doubt, a dish that would make us return. For those with service dogs, The Taco Stand proves to be incredibly accommodating. My service dog was immediately made to feel welcome, with staff providing water and attention, ensuring he was comfortable and well-cared for throughout our visit. This level of attention to all guests, human and animal alike, is a testament to the establishment’s commitment to customer service. The Taco Stand offers a delightful dining experience. With its excellent food, particularly the standout burritos and salsa bar, along with its inclusive atmosphere, it’s a place that not only feeds the body but also the soul. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, it’s a spot that shouldn’t be missed.“

“We just checked this place out for the first time as it is our first time in San Diego visiting from Oahu, Hawai'i. We never tried Mexican food here in California and OMG so yummy. “The adobada is a must try when you're here! I got one but I suspect I should have gotten two... and maybe the adobada fries. I will be back! It's a bit confusing for your first time, but the security guards are great at directing people into the respective meat lines to order. If possible, I would also ask for extra onions and cilantro since they seem to skimp on this a bit. Ambience: I can see how it gets busy in here, by the time I was done with both meat lines I was able to snag a seat by the window counter. Everyone I interacted with who worked there was friendly, patient and helpful.“

“This place is authentic, delicious, fast, and affordable. Everything you could ever want in your neighborhood Mexican place, and much better than some over hyped places like tacos El Gordo or Oscars. The location is a bit sketchy, but like come on... Isn't that where the best Mexican food is? And like when I'm done eating, you can feel it on the way out the next day if you know what I mean, but that only adds to the excellence that is Humerto's! But actually though, I wouldn't overdo it on their salsa as it can be quite spicy.Overall, I'd absolutely recommend this as a go to quick take out place for authentic and cheap Mexican food!“

“This restaurant is absolutely amazing. I have not had such a great dining experience like this in such a long time. We visited SD for the 1st time and selected Fred's based on their dog friendly patio. I am SO happy we came here. Upon arriving we were greeted by the hostess Alyssa who was bright bubbly & so sweet to our dog Mojito. We were sat right away at a great table by the fire. Service was so quick to bring a fresh bowl of water for Mojito. Our server Stephanie was amazing!! She was energetic and her positive attitude was refreshing. She made a great drink recommendation for me and got our orders going quickly. Before our food arrived I was already so happy with the experience- I mean where else can you take your dog where they get their own menu & are treated so kindly?? I was ready to expect average Mexican food since we came from Phoenix and my fiancé is Mexican himself. But the food was FANTASTIC. I ordered the cheese enchiladas with refried beans and my fiancé ordered the California Burrito. I had the berry mojito that was on special, and finished up the night with a surprise shooter that Stephanie recommended for me. Everything was fantastic. Wait time 10/10, service 12/10, pricing is very fair and reasonable compared to Phoenix 10/10. I wish we lived here so we could come back more frequently, but I can say that this will easily become a mandatory visit for any future trips to SD. Thank you so much Stephanie, Alyssa, and the whole team who work hard to create such an amazing atmosphere“

“Yes, we get it, there’s tons of homeless people outside. What do you expect, you’re in a trolley station in DT, San Diego. Lets focus on the taco shop though. Prices are great, staff is fast, really friendly, and patient considering the type of customers that come inside and food is good. I often get the roll tacos or the cali burrito and they never disappoint.“

“Definitely think the service could take this over and above. For being a staff that appears to also have extra people bus food would think requesting chips salsa refills for drinks etc would be bit quicker turnaround. Love scene, classy and chic with yummy food including the grilled Tiger shrimp fajitas or anything with those shrimps are must order. Also love the queso, sucker for good queso.“

“I stop here every time I’m in this side of my neighborhood. Take the 15 freeway and Exit El Cajon Blvd, go East a few blocks but don’t pass Menlo Ave. Look for Fish and Birria signs waving. They have the whole parking lot just drive in! I usually have two or three Fish tacos (w/o crema) and a pop then they usually know when I’m done because my to-go order is hot and ready!! My grandson is very picky but he looks forward to their Carne Asada Quesa taco’s. I’ve tried a lot off their menu and have never been disappointed, ever. They also GIVE you a “Consommé” which is actually a small portion of their seafood soup not just the fluid, I’ve had whole shrimp in mine many times and small pieces of fish. They’re not stingy with their variety of hot salsas/chili pods and garnishes (limes, cilantro, onions and pickled onions. Lots of ice cold canned and bottled drinks to choose from. This is my only food truck I trust 100% and love their quality of cooking. You’ll agree too once you try them out!“

“I don’t know who gave this place lower than 5 stars but it couldn’t have been because of the food. It’s THE best taco joint I’ve ever been to. And for someone raised in AZ and then spent about 4 years in both SoCal and NorCal, I know what I’m talking about. I had three tacos and chips and salsa. It was almost more than I could eat and I was hungry! Here are the biggest things for me other than the taste of the meats. They literally have (at least) six different salsas. The two brought out with the chips were a green one with cilantro and chunks of avocado. Not spicy enough for me but loved the make up. The other red one is probably in my top 3 salsas ever. The right amount of spice (I like spicy) with great taste and garlic! The other four salsas were decent that came out with the tacos, but for me, the fact that they have six salsas to choose from. Are you kidding me? Great job on whom ever came up with this! Knocked it out of the park. Oh, and btw, Cali beats AZ in overall Mexican food. Just sayin…“

“They are right outside a liquor store in a parking lot, which I love. Honestly, when I saw that, I knew I had to try them. They are open everyday starting at 5pm. They have a large variety of food options. We tried the asada and adobada. Probably the best weve had so far. It's very difficult to find good authentic tasting tacos in the U.S. in my opinion. “Was looking to grab some quick takeout mexican and came across this spot right off the 163 and gennesse. Its a food truck semi permanently parked on the American legion parking lot on the corner. Menu is limited, even more so when they told me thier fryer was down. So I ordered 2 tacos and the quesadilla. Total with tax and tip was $20. This better be some dam goood birria for that price. Took a seat while waiting for my food, they have a few bar tops with high chairs scattered under a pop up awning as well as a 2 tables with 4 chairs set up. Not too long later they brought out my food telling me that the hot sauce was also in there. Got home and opened up the bag and was immediately disappointed in the portion sizes. Even the hot sauce they included was underwhelming. It was first time I had gotten hot sauce in baggies like I was buying some drugs. Reminded me of baggies of crack you see on tv and in movies being sold o the streets. Pretty funny until you realize this is no where near enough sauce for a meal. I first tried the taco, with the red hot sauce. The taco was good, good tasting birria and fresh onions and cilantro, and a nice tasting tortilla. The hot sauce didn't even last a single taco. Up next is the quesadilla. This was the highlight of my meal. Cheesy meaty goodness, this was worth the $10 price tag. Plenty of cheese, plenty of meat, great flavor. Overall good food but the portion size is a little off for the price. Definitely ask for more hot sauce. 2 dime bags isn't enough.“

“**February 2024: Sunday Afternoon** My friend and I were on the hunt for some delicious Mexican food as one of my favorite trucks was no longer around. Given the high reviews I had high hopes that this would be a good replacement and I can confidently say yes! The truck is located in the same parking lot as a gas station and there's a tent covering a small seating area in front of the truck. It's a very casual setting, but perfect to My friend and I contemplating on a number of items, and ate the following. Shrimp/Octopus Ceviche ($21 - big sharing plate/ ideal of 2 people): This was a fantastic, refreshing, and generous item to share. My friend and I were only able to eat half of it (We took the remainder home to eat for dinner). The chef asked if we wanted the shrimp prepared in lime or boiled and we selected the former - IMHO it's definitely the way to go. The dish comes with a half avocado, limes, cucumber, onions, tomatoes etc as well as firm tostados to scoop up the ceviche to enjoy. Octopus Taco ($8): Regular. I want to say it was prepared with a garlic sauce and I really liked this octopus. It had a nice firm texture that wasn't rubbery, and worked well with all the taco ingredients. Soup: The owner gave out a complimentary seafood soup while we waited for our items. It came out pippin hot and was very flavorful It has a little bit of a kick, but that didn't stop my friend from devouring it. Summary: Overall I really enjoyed my experience here and would be happy to come back and try more!“

“I know people have said it before, but the location of the Beach & Taco Shack is fantastic. The ocean, live music, cocktails and taco, what's not to love?! We got the Beef Barbacoa Taco and Surf & Birria Taco and damn they were good. Two of us got the sunset beach and neither of us were fans. The whiskey point and peachy bottom were very tasty.
