“I frequent this taqueria at least every other week; if I could, I would daily. The food is always incredible, you can't go wrong with the taco de adobada or torta adobada. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive. One time they noticed I got shorted a taco before I did and gave me an additional taco. I didn't even ask for that, they were just nice. The music is always a vibe when you choose to dine in. Definitely a 10/10 experience every time.“

“Was recommended this place by my mom, and did not disappoint! everything was amazing! we tried the tacos de pastor, asada, chorizo, and volcan de carnaza (recommended to us by our server giovanni, who was amazing!) and the horchata de fresa also amazing. Why you might ask? The servers and the other staff you assist the servers with waters and all the details are attentive and excellent service ! I love the fact their hospitality is one that’s not like many they anticipate my needs actually engaging with me . I like that they refill my waters and cafe de olla without hesitation. Today’s era 2026 a lot of restaurants are lacking what this restaurant El Prieto cantina demonstrating true hospitality atmosphere and I really value that ! It’s a Sunday afternoon and I’m enjoying the flavor and quality of my full order Birria !

“I read the reviews for this place and I was curious to try it, being Mexican, I’ve never been too impressed by tacos in San Diego, there are good tacos but there’s always something better down south.

I am not someone that picks a place for the atmosphere, I go places for their food, if the atmosphere is good I might stay longer but if the food’s good I’ll come back.

Which is the case with this place, the food is so good that I would travel back from mexico just to eat their ribeye tacos.

I’ve read about people complaining about the atmosphere here, there are too used to fast food joints, this is how a real taqueria feels like, it’s rustic, not sterile, there’s ash from the charcoal flying and landing in the furniture out back, loud music, informal service. If you can’t deal with that, go get yourself some fast food instead, this might not be for everyone. But the food…

The food is worth it, not sterile uberclean plastic setting we tend to find this side of the wall, this feels authentic, and tastes like the best in Mexico. The quality of the raw materials ids the best I have seen, even in México. Could the setting be better? Who cares, the tacos are fantastic that’s all that counts.

“I been following Chris and his dad before they got this taco truck for a few years now, glad to see them still going strong. They have some bomb tijuana style tacos. I like to get the asada and adobada tacos. My friend is obsessed with their asada papa loca (baked potato). I haven't tried it but I will order that next time. Don't forget the habanero onions and the chiles/cebollas toreados, So good! P.s. Check their Instagram to see when they are open because sometimes they do special events and I've shown up and they are not here because I forgot to check if they were there.“

“This is my go to place for tacos de asada and I love them. The only thing we’ve noticed is that it’s not very clean in the bathroom and the eating area walls. There were alot of like fruit flies in the bathroom and it was dirty. The walls where the tables are have food stains. Appears to be when people are eating and it splashes food or they sneeze/cough. Maybe wipe them down more often and even paint. Hopefully it’s not a reflection of the kitchen. Makes you wonder if there’s certain insects in the back or rodents . 😳“

“San diego has a great food truck. After the rodeo, it hit perfectly. 2 regular tacos de asada and al pastor with 1 of tripas. Bomb. Came all hooked up, salsa, onions, cilantro guacamole, delicious. Tripas was reqlly good as well but I prefer them crunchy.
The quesa tacos were bomb also. There was al pastor fries and and birria tacos. I will definitely go back. The pricing was a bit much but it was worth it.
Parking is not the best, so get there early.

“This Taco Bell is very consistent. One thing I don't like, though, is they are steering us to use the digital kiosk. I'm okay using the kiosk, but sometimes it's backed up and people are slow on the machine. They don't know how to use it, which makes the line back up even more. “I walked into the shop, and was immediately greeted before arriving at the counter. The shop owner was patient, as I decided what to order.

In the back of the kitchen, I saw the chef's making the order. Everything looked that they cook all the food fresh. I smelled the great aroma, and saw the steam from the back of the shop.

This is a small shop, but they have bench seats and regular stools as well for sitting. They also have a small sauce bar for your order.This is a cozy shop, and the prices are fair. They are equivalent too other taco shops I've visited as well.
