“Best place for flautas and chimichangas in poway by far, but they also have many other amazing dishes like their omelets and tacos.Love this place in general, portions r great for the price and in a place like san diego where u can find 5 mexican restaurants on the same block that means a lot.Hot carrots r a lil extra but r always the perfect crispyness and even the beans and rice on the side r good instead of crappy and dried out.The only real downfall is there is no dashing here. Besides that, it is the best Mexican food in poway!“
“Honestly. I know I will be hated for this but this Jack N the Box has always been the best one in San Diego. Their burgers are consistent, the tacos are consistent. The food always comes out great here compared to other franchises around San Diego. I can also rely on this one.“
“Quaint hole in the wall but a jewel in the rough. Known for their birria but made excellent veggie tacos. Despite its size, it has one of the best salsa bars around. I highly recommend it for both Togo and in person eating!Vegetarian options: Veggie tacos were large, fried, and had really good ingredients!“
“The Taco Stand is a remarkable taco shop that sets itself apart not only with its exceptional food but also with its welcoming atmosphere. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted with a warmth that feels both inviting and genuine, making it clear this place is special. The highlight for many, including myself, is their salsa bar. It offers an impressive variety of options, catering to every palate, from the mildest flavors to those that challenge even the most seasoned spice aficionados. This selection enhances the dining experience, allowing customers to customize their meals to their exact taste preferences. The burritos deserve a special mention. They are generously sized, packed with flavor, and expertly constructed. My girlfriend chose the Asada burrito, and it was a hit. The meat was tender and flavorful, wrapped in a soft tortilla with just the right amount of fillings to complement, but not overwhelm, the main ingredient. It was, without doubt, a dish that would make us return. For those with service dogs, The Taco Stand proves to be incredibly accommodating. My service dog was immediately made to feel welcome, with staff providing water and attention, ensuring he was comfortable and well-cared for throughout our visit. This level of attention to all guests, human and animal alike, is a testament to the establishment’s commitment to customer service. The Taco Stand offers a delightful dining experience. With its excellent food, particularly the standout burritos and salsa bar, along with its inclusive atmosphere, it’s a place that not only feeds the body but also the soul. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, it’s a spot that shouldn’t be missed.“
“This is the best Birria I have every had, including in Mexico. The meat was absolutely well cooked, high quality Beef necks, not chewy or rubbery, the broth was like bone broth. The spice level moderate, and very very tasty I am told the chef has been making Birria for 40 years, and it shows. The tortillas were fresh made that day from a bakery, and had the real authentic corn flavor.... also had the Ramen which was as good as the regular birria, just with ramen! Thanks very much! I cant wait to return for a Torta and Queso Taco.“
“I was on a plant based diet this day and was excited that I saw a menu photo on Yelp offering plant based options. Unfortunately when I showed up, the guy said they got rid of that and no longer have that menu.Since I was already here, I opted for side order of avocado corn salsa and Brussels sprouts. My fiancé got clam chowder. Other plant based side options would have been roasted corn, asparagus, green beans, or fries.Bummer I couldn’t try an entree but the sides were filling and satisfying. The Brussels sprouts were actually better than what I’ve had at fancy restaurants. It had the char and perfect glazed and seasoning. The avocado corn salsa was fresh and flavorful. I like the thin crispy chips. Will need to come back another time when I’m on a regular diet.Vegetarian options: Only the side items“
“The ratings and Daniels video with the size comparison of the food to the canteen lead me to come here. Glad we did, it did not disappoint. Carne asada didn't have gross fat trimmings and the guacamole was plentiful. The daily specials are also helpful when on a budget. Best taquitos we've had in many years. And they actually have pickled carrots. Not many restaurants do that anymore. We will return! Thanks Cali's & Fries, don't ever change!“
“Wanted to try out their tacos because I will be hosting a bridal shower for my daughter in June. Wasn’t able to try the carne asada as they were currently out. Tried the chicken, pork and shrimp. Very good. Sauces also good. The homemade chips were excellent! Definitely in the running.“
“Love their self order kioskWas able to order right away. Very little wait.Order was ready in about 15 minutesGreat shrimp ?One was too burned but that’s okNice staff. Clean place! The gentleman made sure every body was served quickly. He was on top of his game“
“I bought 3 tacos; don't really remember what I ordered. They were around 6$ a taco which might seem expensive at first, but for the size you get, it's worth it. It was flavorful and delicious. It satisfied my craving for a late night taco run.“
“Nice quiet atmosphere, good prices as well. I just a variety of food, Birria Tacos, Carne Asada Quesadilla, rolled tacos, and French fires. Everything was really good! Friendly staff as well. Least favorite of the food I got was the rolled tacos, but all still good for sure.“
“This place is one of my favorite BBQ spots! They not only have the classics but they have some unique items as well. I tried Phil's bbq because of all the hype and it was really disappointing. I stumble upon Smokin J's and was blown away by the brisket and Ribs! Also the pork belly is some of the best I've tried. You can tell they take there time and they do it right ! Also the Mac and cheese is so good!!!“
“Really excellent chili Riano burritos they're pretty big too. I was pleasantly surprised by this place while I was waiting to get my windows tinted. good service good food good selection highly recommended if you're in the area and need food.“
“Roberto's-Welcome to Rancho Bernardo, finally! We have needed a legit taco shop and you are it. We have been loyal customers to Roberto's for over 30 years so having one nearby is truly a win! Per another review we tried the adobada nachos (btw I didn't see nachos on the menu but they have them) OMG I seriously could have eaten the entire dish. The chips are really good and heavy duty, the flavor of the meat is fantastic! Such a great shareable dish for game night/parties/ or just plain goodness. The Carne Asada burrito has been our go to forever. The shop is very nice, cute, clean, and has plenty of seating inside and out. Right next to Big 5, just go!!! Also, the prices are very reasonable.“
“We got two carne asada tacos while waiting for our car at tint world and we were pleasantly surprised. The tacos were pretty big with lots of meat and they were delicious! Not a place I’d typically eat at but definitely worth a try. I’d go again if I’m in the area.“
“Don't let the gas station fool you. This place had the best beef rolled tacos! The portions are huge, and all ingredients are fresh and amazing! My husband does not like guacamole and was blown away with the topping on his monster rolls! I will be back to try other items on the menu!“
“Good ol' authentic Mexican taco shop, open late. ✨ I really enjoyed the California burrito (I asked for added bacon), it was HUGE and lasted me 3 meals! Very delicious. I hung out there with a friend of mine, we chatted for a few hours and accidentally lasted a little longer than closing time, but the workers were very chill and respectful and didn't kick us out. We wanted to respect their time so we eventually left, but they were very caring and welcoming, definitely recommend this place. I love it when taco shops like this play authentic Mexican music in the back and the workers are singing along ?“
“This is the first food truck on my Taco Tuesday tour. It is located in a random parking lot in Mira Mesa. On their instagram, it says they open at 5:00 p.m. but that may be inconsistent because on the day I visited, they were not yet open at 5:30 p.m. Service is very quick and friendly. Their baseline prices are already very reasonable, but their Taco Tuesday deal is even better. $1.50 per al pastor taco on Taco Tuesday $0.75 convenience fee for credit card The tacos are mini-tacos, but I think the amount of meat is very appropriate for size of taco and for sure generous for the Taco Tuesday price. Apologies for having no photo, I ate the tacos too fast!! They had a green salsa that was quite delicious. I actually didn't use it on my tacos (they were already flavorful), but instead used it on a burrito I got from a different restaurant. There is seating for those that want to sit and eat. I took my order to-go. Lots of free parking !“
“The fish tacos were big, crispy, and tasty. The birria tacos were spiced and rich, if not a bit too hot for me...i skipped hot sauce on that one. I liked that they used two tortillas, so the tacos don't break because they aren't skimpy tacos. Two tacos were more than filling. Wish I tried this place sooner!“
“Liz cocina was a hit for my 50th Birthday celebration! Top cuts of chicken, carnitas, carne asada, pork and fish! All was well seasoned! Im hispanic and i feel its hard to find good Spanish rice. Liz hit the bullseye it was delicious! Beans, homemade tortillas and salsas where top notch! To top it off the agua frescas Jamaica and horchata enough said total hit on my day! Don't waste your time with anyone else! I booked Liz Cocina 6 months in advance and her communication was spot on! Don't forget to call Liz and order her tamales during the holidays they are to die for i will be calling Liz again for future parties!“
“Service was very pleasant, food was good! They have Mexican Dr. Pepper in glass bottles in the drinks cooler - Delicious!I deducted one star because I had asked for a chicken tostada, but it had beans only and no chicken. It was tasty but a bit expensive ($6.50) without the meat on it...I actually ordered several items everything was prepared fresh and everything tasted great!Parking: At the time I visited (around 7 pm) there was plenty of parking available. Other nearby businesses were closed (the art store, Hawaiian restaurant and the skate shop) so that probably helpedWheelchair accessibility: Accessible entrance to restaurant from parking lot.“
“Their salsas are perfection, they even have them in big ketchup/mustard plastic bottles for you to enjoy at your table, and their pollo is to die for. I’m avoiding red meat so I’ve tried their pollo nachos but usually get the #9 (two pollo tacos w/ rice and beans) they might have the best beans and rice in San Diego. The experience they deliver is everything you could ask for and more, easily the best service I’ve received in any similar establishment. I discovered this spot in April it’s been my new Saturday tradition to stop by ever since.“
“I tried the large carne asada fries with an horchata to drink. There wasn't anything particularly spectacular about the fries but the meat was well seasoned. The service was quick and friendly and since it wasn't very busy or loud, my son was able to do his homework while we ate. The doors were wide open so a small bird was able to hop in and out as soon as a little bit of food hit the ground which we thought was cute.“
“Ordered through GrubHub last night as my son and I wanted to try another Mexican place (we just moved here a month ago). The prices were much better than anything here in Mira Mesa area, and the food was delicious!! Portion sizes were great and flavor was on point. Our new favorite place! Thank you :)“
“Jack kind of sucks, but this location is better than average. Primarily what i mean by that is they get you in and out quickly, which to me the reason the call it fast food is because the fast is more important than the food. The one thing that sucks though, and other restraunts in the area have this problem, they have one of those coke machines with a zillion flavors, but like theyre always out of syrups so your options are like diet rootbeer, diet minute maid, and diet orange soda or something else no one wants. Not a huge soda guy, but how the hell do you run out of coke all the time at a burger joint?I guess what im saying is come here for the drive through and just get food no drinks. Itll be fast and the food will be mid.“
“EXCELLENT Chicken Soup. When places say "Best...whatever " one is always like...okay...yeah sure buddy...you know. In my humble opinion Don Pollo hits the mark with the chicken soup. Absolutely Delicious. The broth is so clean and bright, vegetables are not overcooked. The squash and carrots have a crunch and bite to them. The rice sitting at the bottom of the bowl is the right accent to it. The jalapeño gives it the right heat, to bring everything together. I wanted more, but my belly full. Just the perfect bowl of chicken soup. Moving on to the tacos, overflowing with meat and guacamole. Don Pollo hits the mark again. You get your money's worth every time. Been here now a few times, and EVERY TIME i am SATISFIED. GREAT SPOT. EXCELLENT SERVICE. THANK YOU DON POLLO.“
