“We had a fantastic New Year's Eve lunch, and as expected, the lobster bisque was consistently delightful. The stellar bread service added to the overall experience. We chose two excellent wines and enjoyed a good beer. Additionally, the duck tacos, a perennial favorite, never fail to impress.“
“I usually judge a Mex place on the way their beans taste. Good thing as I had just enough for a bean and cheese burrito and a gallon of petrol ( petrol not served their of course) and it was the best bean and cheese burrito I have ever had!One vlock from the beach in proper La Jolla , and life was really great plus I got to see my hometown and was super charged having attended Torrey Pines Church and was blessed to hear a wonderful message in the sermon as well as be where I have so many fond memories .“
“The cashier recommended the taco platter because i was so overwhelmed by the complete plant based ingredient menu, I didn't know where to start, do I really enjoyed the taco platter with tree variations of the taco ingredients ,all plant based that completely out did any conventional Mexican food i had ever had, and the energy i felt afterwards was great in comparison to wanting to pass out from food coma“
“LOVE this restaurant!! Great food served by an excellent crew. Had dinner here one night, back for lunch the next day. Out of town tourists that wished we were local.Parking: Maybe quick free parking at the bank. Street parking was difficult.“
“My Cali burrito was the size of a human newborn and was delicious. That yellow salsa was unique and also delicious. I’m also glad they automatically give pickled red onions. The staff had good customer service. I hope this place never changes, it’s currently my favorite Mexican place in the area.“
“We had an absolutely amazing meal and experience at Mati’s!! Dora made us feel right at home. We got the chilaquiles verdes and birria fries and they were both UNREAL! If you are looking for a great spot to eat with not only amazing food, but an amazing experience, get over to Mati’s!!“
“Oscars offers fantastic seafood tacos! We tried the tuna adobado, shrimp & bacon, octopus, and fish tacos, all bursting with freshness and flavor. The staff was friendly and attentive, readily addressing any inquiries, and the service was prompt. With a dog-friendly outdoor seating area, it's a great spot for enjoying delicious tacos! Highly recommended!“
“Our party of 4 went on a Thursday night and we were seated right away. There were seats at the bar and 2-4 person high and low tables. Because it’s in Hillcrest, we had a rough time looking for street parking- ended up finding a spot a couple blocks down.We ordered from the Specialty Tacos list: Steak and Bones, Bad to the Bone, and El Presidente. The tacos were surprisingly large!*Steak and Bones: full sized grilled rib eye tender steak slabbed on a corn tortilla— definitely can’t eat it like a normal taco*Bad to the Bone: fall-off-the-bone beef rib on a corn tortilla*El Presidente: 3 large pieces of garlic shrimp on a corn tortilla— so good!We also ordered the *Steak and Bone Fries and the *Steak and Bone Nachos. These 2 were just okay for us. The nachos were crunchy but these were smaller portions served on big plates which made it look underwhelming. Our server was attentive and service was pretty quick, considering how large the meats were.I’d come back for their Specialty tacos!Parking: Paid street parking only (free after a certain time). Difficult to find a spot especially during night time.“
“Exquisite presentation and flavor! I was lucky and ordered the New Yorker craft taco; it contains New York, steak, thin, sliced, poblano, Crema, and chili de arbol; that means a little spicy. Highly recommended! Because items are prepared per order it takes a few minutes a preparation time; so be prepared for the wait. It is worth the wait for excellent presentation and flavor.“
“Carne asada taco, sope, and shrimp roll taco plus a modelo michelada. Yes please! The flavors of meat and sauces plus the corn was so tasty. Local SD review…Flor’s is an old town Mexican favorite now. A lot of restaurants are here in Old Town just because town needs Mexican food for tourists, but this is honestly top tacos in San Diego. My daughter even commented “these tacos taste like the ones in Mexico!”The atmosphere and seating were comfortable and family friendly. Beer cups available with homemade chamoy and tajin. Recommend it!“
“I think daily about this place, I visited it over a year ago now, while on my study abroad year at ASU, me and my mates, all slightly hungover from a night of cutting shapes out in PB, were looking for a place to eat, and there it was… A quiet yet vibrant spot, sat peacefully in chaotic concrete jungle of San Diego downtown. I went up to the counter, not expecting miracles, just simple something to tie us over till the evening. I ordered the Surf and Turf Burrito. The tortilla toasted to perfecting, the shrimp bursting with flavour and juices, so fresh you could tell it had been swimming the ocean floor that morning, the steak perfectly tender. The freshness of the guacamole, the perfect balance that brought such freshness and overall complexity to the meal…. The perfect bite. I savoured every moment like it was my final day on death row. It’s been over a year and I still think about it daily… one day I will tell my kids about this place, one day I will take them.“
“Located on Logan Avenue in the Barrio Logan neighborhood of San Diego, this small restaurant offers delicious, authentic tacos. We enjoyed the swordfish tacos and coconut battered shrimp tacos. We also enjoyed the Coco Pudding with fresh berries We were disappointed that they did not offer to go options because we wanted to take our food to watch the sunset. They were out of a couple options we wanted to try. We arrived at 6:30ish p.m. and found a parking spot in front of the restaurant.“
“Local food truck doing it right! This place is a gem. Been there about 7 or 8 times and it's always a good time. Usually get the fish tacos or the birria ramen, and take it.next.door to the Whistle Stop to have a beer while I'm eating. All the locals in South Park love this place and it's for good reason.“
“Reliably the best tacos I've ever had in the US! Their Al Pastor tacos are delicious. My usual order is a Baja, a Pollo and an Al Pastor taco. Their chips are also made in house and very good.Neighborhood parking nearby is not too hard to find. At busy times it may be hard to get a table.“
“Great Mexican restaurant with a large selection of delicious dishes. They even have authentic Mexican sodas and in-house made juices.Dietary restrictions: They have a large menu to accommodate any dietary restrictions. I don’t eat pork or eggs.“
“As a Moroccan who lived most of her life in Morocco and the rest in baja cali. I love to come to this place and eat their food. It really makes me feel home and I love the taste and every bite of their food especially the hot Moroccan tea. I highly recommend this “
“This is a straightforward authentic, California Coast style taco shop. I got the Al Pastor taco and a cheese enchilada and both were delicious and higher quality than you would expect from small taco shops. As an example, the included beans and rice were quite fresh. Would swing by again.“
“We stopped in to rest our feet and have a drink. Decided to order nachos. The nachos and salsa were okay but there was so little guacamole we couldn't find it. The waitress was wonderful and brought us a huge comp'd side of guacamole. It was very disappointing. Lumpy, mashed avocados - no other flavors. Oh well. We still enjoyed our time there and on another visit we would try something else.“
“Visited on Wednesday evening after watching beautiful sunset at sunset cliff. 2nd floor patio seating is amazing and luckily we sat on the best spot to watch more beautiful sunset. Food and drink we got were great and the price was so reasonable with this kinda view so we were super satisfied. Got weekly special wahoo taco and bbq chicken slider, clam chowder. Will repeat and super recommend. This place is amazing“
“If you're like me, from somewhere else and you are looking for the perfect taco experience, look no further. This isn't my first time, and this time, I sorted it sorted by actual customers. I walked in because the group of ten dudes looked local and it seemed to be their spot.I ordered three tacos al pastor. The nice young lady behind the counter asked if I wanted to mix it up and suggested the asada. I decided to take the suggestion and made it four tacos instead. What came out, and quickly at that, was beyond my wildest street taco dreams. The recommended beef was the most flavorful taco meat I have ever had.It was less than $20 and the four tacos were almost too stuffed with meat, it was held in by a wrapper I had never seen before, but there were no complaints from me.I felt like I picked the best place.“
“These are some damn good tacos! I got the pollo and al pastor, and the al pastor was better. Both were excellent but the pork had a better flavor than the chicken. I'm normally a pretty picky eater but the whole bite was great and worked extremely well together.“
“Absolutely delicious tacos - very unique tastes and the fresh tortillas are awesome! It is not authentic but it is yummy! we enjoyed everything we got! Our favorites included the Crunch time Shrimp taco, Chorizo Asado, Mexicali tacos, Guacamole & chips and you can’t forget the Churro!! The salsa were also great - we loved the Sala Aguamole the best. Definitely recommend !“
“The Taco Stand is a remarkable taco shop that sets itself apart not only with its exceptional food but also with its welcoming atmosphere. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted with a warmth that feels both inviting and genuine, making it clear this place is special. The highlight for many, including myself, is their salsa bar. It offers an impressive variety of options, catering to every palate, from the mildest flavors to those that challenge even the most seasoned spice aficionados. This selection enhances the dining experience, allowing customers to customize their meals to their exact taste preferences. The burritos deserve a special mention. They are generously sized, packed with flavor, and expertly constructed. My girlfriend chose the Asada burrito, and it was a hit. The meat was tender and flavorful, wrapped in a soft tortilla with just the right amount of fillings to complement, but not overwhelm, the main ingredient. It was, without doubt, a dish that would make us return. For those with service dogs, The Taco Stand proves to be incredibly accommodating. My service dog was immediately made to feel welcome, with staff providing water and attention, ensuring he was comfortable and well-cared for throughout our visit. This level of attention to all guests, human and animal alike, is a testament to the establishment’s commitment to customer service. The Taco Stand offers a delightful dining experience. With its excellent food, particularly the standout burritos and salsa bar, along with its inclusive atmosphere, it’s a place that not only feeds the body but also the soul. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, it’s a spot that shouldn’t be missed.“
“So good we came here twice (so far) during our stay in OB. So many options for flavors! The tortillas are super fresh. I had the carne, who knew mashed potato would slap on a taco?? shrimp, pescado, chile relleno, mahi, kids quesataco (a taco sized quesadilla) and a couple others.. all were awesome. The vibe there is open air family friendly with games and plenty of seating. (We got our food to go both times) It's quick and casual and was within walking distance to the beach. Good drink selection too, though we did not order any either time. I fed myself and two teens + dessert for about $40 so you can't beat that..“
“I love this place. Their rolled tacos is delicious and made with fresh ingredients. The worker Carlos is so nice and friendly and always answer any questions. And I love that this place is all gluten free so my husband doesn't have to worry about cross contamination. This place is amazing!!!“
“We just checked this place out for the first time as it is our first time in San Diego visiting from Oahu, Hawai'i. We never tried Mexican food here in California and OMG so yummy. We tried different other tacos. And omg 10/10!!! Also, the older lady who helped us she's super nice and explained what were in the tacos. We love it most definitely will be back when we come back to visit!!! I didn't get a chance to take pictures and digged in right away. Haha“
“I had the Mahi Mahu sandwich with a side of calamari. Hands down most delicious I've had in a really long time. I gad the sandwich without sauce, but the garlic butter sauce on the side and the sandwich was phenomenal without the sauce, but even better with it! 10 out of 10 recommend and will go back anytime I'm in Point Loma!“
“One of the few places in Old Town for our family's late flight into the area. Our party of 7 sat outside, under a heater. We enjoyed drinks, a delicious meal, and conversation without feeling rushed. Our waitress was just the best!! She knew the menu well and recommended drinks and meals. Thanks for a great start to our family's visit!!!“
“Yes, we get it, there’s tons of homeless people outside. What do you expect, you’re in a trolley station in DT, San Diego. Lets focus on the taco shop though. Prices are great, staff is fast, really friendly, and patient considering the type of customers that come inside and food is good. I often get the roll tacos or the cali burrito and they never disappoint.“
“I drove up from Yuma, AZ and boiiii was the trip worth it. This was by far the best flavored and cooked Salmon that I've had. The veggies were fresh and cooked with the perfect amount crunch. This place is definitely a must everytime I come to San Diego now. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“
“This place is located in the historic Golden Hill in a small shopping center off 25th street.I ordered for takeout. I was in the mood for a breakfast burrito and heard they were good here. And they are soooo good! I ordered the bacon breakfast burrito and added potatoes. What I liked even more was the red salsa. It has a good kick and the flavor compliments it just as much. The food here is worth the try! There are some booths inside where you can dine in, it's not much to look at but their food is good. You can always head to the end of 25th and eat at the park for a nice outdoor treat.Coming from a Golden Hill local.Parking: There is a parking lot but due to the laundromat congestion of people it can be rough to find parking. There is street parking as well. Also beware the parking spots are tiny and the lot itself is tight“
“Hands down the best Mexican in Clairemont.#12, Taco Salad, or Carney Asada Plate. Are my favorite! If your gonna eat out you may as well eat something better than manufactured hamburgers or French fries with more ingredients that potato! And say hello to Rene!Vegetarian options: It's Mexican, if it doesn't have meat, chicken, or fish it's basically all vegetables......“
“Wanted to try out their tacos because I will be hosting a bridal shower for my daughter in June. Wasn’t able to try the carne asada as they were currently out. Tried the chicken, pork and shrimp. Very good. Sauces also good. The homemade chips were excellent! Definitely in the running.“
“Best best best taco shop in PL. Family owned and operated, so I’d highly recommend supporting this small business. The family gives their employees like 2 weeks off for Christmas and I can definitely get behind that as well. Well deserved. Don’t go anywhere else. You can taste the quality and pride of ownership here.“
“Hello everyone,This was my first time eating at Taco Surf. It was a good experience. I would have appreciated just a little more patience from the cashier...especially since this was my first time eating there and I let him know (there was not many people in the restaurant or behind me to have given a few minutes to explain). Overall great food, reasonable prices. I plan to return in the summer.“
“I don’t know who gave this place lower than 5 stars but it couldn’t have been because of the food. It’s THE best taco joint I’ve ever been to. And for someone raised in AZ and then spent about 4 years in both SoCal and NorCal, I know what I’m talking about. I had three tacos and chips and salsa. It was almost more than I could eat and I was hungry! Here are the biggest things for me other than the taste of the meats. They literally have (at least) six different salsas. The two brought out with the chips were a green one with cilantro and chunks of avocado. Not spicy enough for me but loved the make up. The other red one is probably in my top 3 salsas ever. The right amount of spice (I like spicy) with great taste and garlic! The other four salsas were decent that came out with the tacos, but for me, the fact that they have six salsas to choose from. Are you kidding me? Great job on whom ever came up with this! Knocked it out of the park. Oh, and btw, Cali beats AZ in overall Mexican food. Just sayin…“
“Societe has amazing beers, great vibes, and staff is incredibly friendly! Was celebrating a friend's birthday and sat outside on the cool patio! It was a perfect spot for conversations and enjoying Old Town. The BEST PART - I found plenty of parking around the brewery!!! Artwork in the building is AWESOME. Chris was extremely attentive and insightful about ordering the right beers! You gotta go! Cheers!“
“Great food overall! Everything was booooomb. I don't remember my full order but I would recommend the shrimp tacos for sure plus the chorizo and poblano. The asada taco was a little too basic for me but I can't say I didn't enjoy it.“
“We are from out of town. I really enjoyed the atmosphere with the Luchador artwork and the festive colors and portraits. There is a large mirror ball on the ceiling and I bet there are some really good vibrations in the place late, late in the night. The service was stunningly fast. The sauces were lively, about 4 or 5 choices but that is about right. I am guessing they are house made and had very fresh ingredients.Extremely friendly and quick service.I had like the pineapple and seafood birria burrito and it tasted fresh. I loved the burrito tortilla. It was flour and beautifully toasted. So the burrito was good, just probably not the right choice for me. I was stretching my tastes and ordered it on kind of an impulse. My wife ordered the birria tacos which are pictured. Not a very good photo but you can also see some of the sauces, too. The birria tacos were very delicious on my Northern MN taste buds. We tried all of the sauces and none of them were "too spicy" for me, but my wife needed to take a break for a minute once or twice. But they certainly aren't just pointlessly spicy. These are obviously carefully considered recipes that balance heat with texture and a variety of elements. I am not a foodie so I don't know how to say that better. They clearly take pride in their recipes and the work that goes into preparing them.I would recommend it for someone who wants a unique experience with tasty food and a vibrant atmosphere. But the atmosphere is where this place really stands out. It is obvious to me that this was as much a tribute to the spirit and energy of luchador fighter entertainers as it is sort of a curated museum dedicated to preserving some of the portraits and news clippings from various generations. I am not a luchador fan, but this place made me feel like maybe I should be. And for a true fan I would say it is worth a pilgrimage.“
“I bought 3 tacos; don't really remember what I ordered. They were around 6$ a taco which might seem expensive at first, but for the size you get, it's worth it. It was flavorful and delicious. It satisfied my craving for a late night taco run.“
“Oh my goodness... It is not fair that I didn't have money to buy more. This was legitimately the best taco I've ever had. I want another one! Or three! Or maybe five! I definitely want more. I gotta make sure to hold on to $21 for their combo next week.“
“**February 2024: Sunday Afternoon** My friend and I were on the hunt for some delicious Mexican food as one of my favorite trucks was no longer around. Given the high reviews I had high hopes that this would be a good replacement and I can confidently say yes! The truck is located in the same parking lot as a gas station and there's a tent covering a small seating area in front of the truck. It's a very casual setting, but perfect to My friend and I contemplating on a number of items, and ate the following. Shrimp/Octopus Ceviche ($21 - big sharing plate/ ideal of 2 people): This was a fantastic, refreshing, and generous item to share. My friend and I were only able to eat half of it (We took the remainder home to eat for dinner). The chef asked if we wanted the shrimp prepared in lime or boiled and we selected the former - IMHO it's definitely the way to go. The dish comes with a half avocado, limes, cucumber, onions, tomatoes etc as well as firm tostados to scoop up the ceviche to enjoy. Octopus Taco ($8): Regular. I want to say it was prepared with a garlic sauce and I really liked this octopus. It had a nice firm texture that wasn't rubbery, and worked well with all the taco ingredients. Soup: The owner gave out a complimentary seafood soup while we waited for our items. It came out pippin hot and was very flavorful It has a little bit of a kick, but that didn't stop my friend from devouring it. Summary: Overall I really enjoyed my experience here and would be happy to come back and try more!“
“Love their self order kioskWas able to order right away. Very little wait.Order was ready in about 15 minutesGreat shrimp ?One was too burned but that’s okNice staff. Clean place! The gentleman made sure every body was served quickly. He was on top of his game“
“This is such a cool place and offers a very authentic feel. The seating downstairs is so cool and pet friendly. There are plants everywhere and they have heaters for colder days. It’s mostly covered so you are safe in the rain. The food was delicious and the happy hour made everything even more affordable. We got nachos and tacos and it was all perfect. We will for sure be going back the next time we are in Del Mar.Vegetarian options: The wonderful thing about Mexican food is that it’s very easy to turn into vegetarian or vegan.Parking: It was a little busy so we had to drive around a little to find parking. I imagine during busy season it’s very difficult to find parking but it’s very walkable.“
“Wanted some fish tacos while in SD. Made a quick trip to the taco club and was not dissappointed. We got 3 grilled fish tacos, and 1 spicy shrimp taco with everything. Very good and quick service. Grabbed a beer at the bar next door, and enjoy sitting out front eating. Worth a shot if your in the area.“
“I recently dined at Areli’s Taco Shop in PB and was thoroughly impressed! The mini tacos and nachos were incredibly delicious, bursting with flavor in every bite. Not only were the dishes superb, but the owners also exuded warmth and generosity, providing ample portions that left me completely satisfied. I highly recommend Areli’s Taco Shop for anyone craving authentic Mexican cuisine served with a side of hospitality.“
“One of the best OG taco shops in San Diego! They make great breakfast and California burritos. The employees are always friendly. And the food is always fresh. Whether you're hung over or looking for a good taco shop, this is the spot for you.“
“Amazing food, everything you order tastes delicious and most importantly, they are very affordable. That's my go-to spot any time of day for soups, burritos, tacos or pretty much anything in the menu. The chicken quesadilla is bomb and if you pre-order, they usually only take 10-mins to get it done and ready for you to pick up. Thumbs up for real.“
“This review is based solely on the experience, food taste and customer service. Bare with me for a thorough review which will most likely convince some. First off, when entering Los Panchos we were kindly greeted by the cashier worker named Teresa who had a warm smile and radiant energy. When looking at the menu we were a bit taken back with all the options they had yet happy that they had plenty of variety. We asked Teresa a few questions about some of their menu items and she was very helpful and informative in answering. My husband ordered himself a Caldo de 7 mares ( 7 seafood soup) and a 3 "mini" tacos plate which came with TJ style tacos of asada, adobada and cabeza. I had their 5 crunchy rolled taquitos and chose the fish taquitos and also for 2 "mini" tacos or asada and adobada. My daughter got the Carne Asada fries, my youngest got the kids bean and cheese burrito plate with a side of french fries. And we ordered our baby the kids chicken taco with rice and beans. A lot of food. Yes but oh so worth it!!!!! Teresa gave us little cups of bean soup with tortilla chips as a starter? Now starting with my husbands order, the 3 "mini" tacos are about the size of a big palm, double tortilla, loaded to the brim with delicious, well seasoned meat, and guacamole! You can literally make 2 tacos out of 1, and his plate came with 3. Pictures are inserted for reference and deliciousness. But the star here is truly the Caldo de 7 mares!!! It left us in awe at how delicious, fresh and authentic it tasted. The soup had a variety of different seafood like jaiba, fish, shrimp, clams, octupus, crab leg and I know there was more. My husband literally said it tasted as good as his parents home state of Chapala, Jalisco Mexico and that's big coming from him?? I wished I had ordered myself a bowl of that! It literally left our taste buds in heaven. Now my order was good, the taquitos of fish had a nice crunch along with a white mayo sauce and loaded with cabbage and pico slaw. Very tasty for seafood lovers. And portions are huge?? Same for my "mini" tacos, very delicious and well seasoned meat. Now my daughters order of the asada fries were a show stopper, the french fries OMG where nice, hot and crispy!!! You don't find places who have fries like that anymore, but these fries were topped with a cheese sauce, guacamole, onions, tomatoes, sour cream and meat! They were astounding. Getting a bite of everything incorporated was like a bang or so many delightful flavors all at once!!! My youngest is a super picky eater and she loved her little bean a cheese burrito but she couldn't stop raving about the fries!? My baby's chicken taco was super moist, well seasoned and big as well. Which is a plus because it serves as lunch and dinner? Rice and beans were good as well, I could tell since my baby kept asking for more. All in all this place is amazing! The food, service and atmosphere are incredible! I hope the owner takes great pride in knowing his cooks have golden hands that make wonderful authentic mexican food, and his front staff Teresa and another young gal are very welcoming and kind. I'd give them a raise if they were my workers cause you don't find staff like this anymore. Eating here honestly felt like home away from home. I recommend anyone to try this place out. There is something for everyone! You will not regret it! Thank you Los Panchos Tacos???“
“The bacon breakfast burrito is incredible. The salsa they put on it (and all their burritos) is LEAGUES BEYOND what other taco places in this area put inside the burrito. Don’t get me wrong - La Jolla taco places are all good. But Raymundo’s is criminally slept on, given that they have the best burritos, with REAL fillings.“
