“Oh, yeah. A Valentine's dinner every gal would love, JIB. My husband and I have been together for 36 years, so there's no pomp and circumstance with holidays anymore. We enjoyed our time together on this trip and food was fast and yummy.“
“Everyone here is so nice. I order for takeout and change my mind later. The lady was so nice to get me a table. The service at the table was great they pick my empty plate right away. What it looks to be the manager gave me a free flan to taste.“
“LOVE this restaurant!! Great food served by an excellent crew. Had dinner here one night, back for lunch the next day. Out of town tourists that wished we were local.Parking: Maybe quick free parking at the bank. Street parking was difficult.“
“Good vegan burritos and tacos ? The hot habenaro and Chipotle hot sauce were tasty. I would go back. The restaurant is bigger than I expected and dog friendly. The staff was friendly and lively. Helped us navigate the choices on their menu since it was our first visit, thanks.“
“Our party of 4 went on a Thursday night and we were seated right away. There were seats at the bar and 2-4 person high and low tables. Because it’s in Hillcrest, we had a rough time looking for street parking- ended up finding a spot a couple blocks down.We ordered from the Specialty Tacos list: Steak and Bones, Bad to the Bone, and El Presidente. The tacos were surprisingly large!*Steak and Bones: full sized grilled rib eye tender steak slabbed on a corn tortilla— definitely can’t eat it like a normal taco*Bad to the Bone: fall-off-the-bone beef rib on a corn tortilla*El Presidente: 3 large pieces of garlic shrimp on a corn tortilla— so good!We also ordered the *Steak and Bone Fries and the *Steak and Bone Nachos. These 2 were just okay for us. The nachos were crunchy but these were smaller portions served on big plates which made it look underwhelming. Our server was attentive and service was pretty quick, considering how large the meats were.I’d come back for their Specialty tacos!Parking: Paid street parking only (free after a certain time). Difficult to find a spot especially during night time.“
“INCREDIBLE, authentic, all-vegan Mexican food, tucked inside the Grossmont food court. Don’t let the location dissuade you — this is one of the best vegan spots in all of San Diego. The flavors and textures are on point and you can tell every dish is hecho con amor. Large portions and great customer service, too!Vegetarian options: All vegan!“
“The food here absolutely amazing! The quality and amount of food you get is so worth it. The salsa absolutely 10/10 the breakfast burritos 11/10. Not only that the customer service tops the whole experience off everyone was so kind. If you're in the area make sure you stop in you won't regret it.“
“I think daily about this place, I visited it over a year ago now, while on my study abroad year at ASU, me and my mates, all slightly hungover from a night of cutting shapes out in PB, were looking for a place to eat, and there it was… A quiet yet vibrant spot, sat peacefully in chaotic concrete jungle of San Diego downtown. I went up to the counter, not expecting miracles, just simple something to tie us over till the evening. I ordered the Surf and Turf Burrito. The tortilla toasted to perfecting, the shrimp bursting with flavour and juices, so fresh you could tell it had been swimming the ocean floor that morning, the steak perfectly tender. The freshness of the guacamole, the perfect balance that brought such freshness and overall complexity to the meal…. The perfect bite. I savoured every moment like it was my final day on death row. It’s been over a year and I still think about it daily… one day I will tell my kids about this place, one day I will take them.“
“Had my daughter’s 18th birthday. I booked Thomas and I couldn’t be more happier with my decision. The food was amazingly delicious. The homemade tortillas was the reason I booked him but the rest of the food was so delicious. My guests kept stalking about how good everything was, and even asked for his card. He came with all the trimmings and I didn’t have to do anything.Thomas and his wife Maria were there in time and very professional.I can’t wait to book him for my next party.Thank you Thomas from a very happy customer!“
“Great place especially if you are craving seafood. If it's not on the menu ask if they have the macadamia nut encrusted Halibut. Doesn't get much better than that. And for dessert try the Creme Brulee.Parking: If the top lot is full there is parking down below try the restaurant.“
“Al Pastor Town truely lives up to their name as they offer 5 unique types of Al pastor meats and more. I was there when they opened at noon and got the Al Pastor Roio Burrito.Service was pretty slow but the staff were great. Eventually, I got the burrito and took the most blissful first bite. The burrito was packed with meat where every bite caused juices to come gushing out and cover every taste bud. Just when I thought it couldn't get better, I tried using their 2 sauces: salsa verde (not very spicy) and what I think is mango habanero (spicier). The owner really played matchmaker because the burrito and the sauces was a complete match. 5/5 I'll need to come back and try the rest of the flavors.Atmosphere was great imo but is not for everybody. The place is inside a mart and is not really a place to sit down and dine.“
“Local food truck doing it right! This place is a gem. Been there about 7 or 8 times and it's always a good time. Usually get the fish tacos or the birria ramen, and take it.next.door to the Whistle Stop to have a beer while I'm eating. All the locals in South Park love this place and it's for good reason.“
“Located on Logan Avenue in the Barrio Logan neighborhood of San Diego, this small restaurant offers delicious, authentic tacos. We enjoyed the swordfish tacos and coconut battered shrimp tacos. We also enjoyed the Coco Pudding with fresh berries We were disappointed that they did not offer to go options because we wanted to take our food to watch the sunset. They were out of a couple options we wanted to try. We arrived at 6:30ish p.m. and found a parking spot in front of the restaurant.“
“Nates is great. There is normally live music, so be prepared if you plan to sit outside. I find the older I get, the more I want to tell people to turn things down. My 10th grade English teacher used to say "decibels" when we got too loud. I hear her voice in my head so much now. If you're old and ornery like me, it is much quieter inside. There is a decent amount of seating inside or out, so you should have options.I mostly get the French toast plate. I always have leftovers. I've tried a few of the ornery dishes and have yet to complain about anything. The bathrooms always seem tended to. The staff is nice. I enjoy talking with them while I pretend to be confused about what I'm going to order. You know how we attempt to try and expand ourselves. Try something new. I know I'm going to land right back at the French toast, but I make the effort. There is a garden store attached. There are a few animals, goats, Turtles, tortoises and such. There are also plants and flowers. It's nice to walk through after eating. Pretty ambiance to enjoy after eating. You can get a little walk in.“
“We moved in the neighborhood recently and decided to give this a try. The service was quick and very friendly. The food was even more amazing. We tried the torta and quesabirria and were amazed at the quality. Some of the best in SD. Will definitely come back.“
“Reliably the best tacos I've ever had in the US! Their Al Pastor tacos are delicious. My usual order is a Baja, a Pollo and an Al Pastor taco. Their chips are also made in house and very good.Neighborhood parking nearby is not too hard to find. At busy times it may be hard to get a table.“
“As a Moroccan who lived most of her life in Morocco and the rest in baja cali. I love to come to this place and eat their food. It really makes me feel home and I love the taste and every bite of their food especially the hot Moroccan tea. I highly recommend this “
“We stopped in to rest our feet and have a drink. Decided to order nachos. The nachos and salsa were okay but there was so little guacamole we couldn't find it. The waitress was wonderful and brought us a huge comp'd side of guacamole. It was very disappointing. Lumpy, mashed avocados - no other flavors. Oh well. We still enjoyed our time there and on another visit we would try something else.“
“This place came recommended, and well, it didn't disappoint, although it didn't wow me either. Perhaps I wasn't in a mood, but I rate it 7. There are 3 locations, and we went to the 2nd location on Main Street. Portions were good, tad too expensive for the quality of food. All in all, it was ok.“
“This place is delicious!!! I was impressed with the service and quality of the food! Tacos El Gordo and Ahumaderas is a 1 out of 5 compared to this place! I didn’t even know this place existed until family members came from out of state and we looked for a good taco place. Their carne asada and adobada is DELICIOUS! The agua frescas are so good and the churros yum yum yum! You must try!“
“If you're like me, from somewhere else and you are looking for the perfect taco experience, look no further. This isn't my first time, and this time, I sorted it sorted by actual customers. I walked in because the group of ten dudes looked local and it seemed to be their spot.I ordered three tacos al pastor. The nice young lady behind the counter asked if I wanted to mix it up and suggested the asada. I decided to take the suggestion and made it four tacos instead. What came out, and quickly at that, was beyond my wildest street taco dreams. The recommended beef was the most flavorful taco meat I have ever had.It was less than $20 and the four tacos were almost too stuffed with meat, it was held in by a wrapper I had never seen before, but there were no complaints from me.I felt like I picked the best place.“
“These are some damn good tacos! I got the pollo and al pastor, and the al pastor was better. Both were excellent but the pork had a better flavor than the chicken. I'm normally a pretty picky eater but the whole bite was great and worked extremely well together.“
“The Quesabirria & consume is FANTASTIC, and it was $4 cheaper than other places. The reviews did not lie about how flavorful the food is. Best taco truck meal I’ve ever had & I’ve had nothing but good experiences at food trucks.“
“This place is authentic, delicious, fast, and affordable. Everything you could ever want in your neighborhood Mexican place, and much better than some over hyped places like tacos El Gordo or Oscars. The location is a bit sketchy, but like come on... Isn't that where the best Mexican food is? And like when I'm done eating, you can feel it on the way out the next day if you know what I mean, but that only adds to the excellence that is Humerto's! But actually though, I wouldn't overdo it on their salsa as it can be quite spicy.Overall, I'd absolutely recommend this as a go to quick take out place for authentic and cheap Mexican food!“
“The adobada is a must try when you're here! I got one but I suspect I should have gotten two... and maybe the adobada fries. I will be back! It's a bit confusing for your first time, but the security guards are great at directing people into the respective meat lines to order. If possible, I would also ask for extra onions and cilantro since they seem to skimp on this a bit. Ambience: I can see how it gets busy in here, by the time I was done with both meat lines I was able to snag a seat by the window counter. Everyone I interacted with who worked there was friendly, patient and helpful.“
“I love this place. Their rolled tacos is delicious and made with fresh ingredients. The worker Carlos is so nice and friendly and always answer any questions. And I love that this place is all gluten free so my husband doesn't have to worry about cross contamination. This place is amazing!!!“
“I adore this quaint shop – every dish I've tried here has been delightful, and the service is impressively swift. The owner, who is exceptionally kind, guided me through the vegetarian options, which include Chile relleno, bean and cheese enchilada, potato tacos, and a veggie burrito. For those with wheelchair accessibility concerns, it's worth noting that the shop is conveniently located near the train station, with no step up or down.“
“Ordered the Wet Birria Tacos with everything on it and despite the sizes of them being small (see lime for scale), they pack a punch for flavor so get extra! The service was speedy, and they were super gracious with explaining how they work. Their being Zabiha halal (view their instagram) is a great way for everyone to eat and I can't wait to see what else they do with their food.“
“I ordered the asada tacos and asada chips from Door Dash. Let me tell you, the food is super tasty. The tacos were packed with meat and there was more meat than chips in the asada chips. They chopped up the asada for the chips making it easier to eat. This is a hidden gem for sure! Hands down the closest I've gotten to tacos in TJ. 10 out of 10!!!!!“
“The tortillas were fresh and homemade the ladies were making them at the counter as you're walking in. The meat in the tacos was good, except for the barria & quesabirria which were very chewy. The quesabirria was quite greasy and not crispy at all on the outside. The carne asada burrito was fresh and full of flavor .“
“This place is located in the historic Golden Hill in a small shopping center off 25th street.I ordered for takeout. I was in the mood for a breakfast burrito and heard they were good here. And they are soooo good! I ordered the bacon breakfast burrito and added potatoes. What I liked even more was the red salsa. It has a good kick and the flavor compliments it just as much. The food here is worth the try! There are some booths inside where you can dine in, it's not much to look at but their food is good. You can always head to the end of 25th and eat at the park for a nice outdoor treat.Coming from a Golden Hill local.Parking: There is a parking lot but due to the laundromat congestion of people it can be rough to find parking. There is street parking as well. Also beware the parking spots are tiny and the lot itself is tight“
“Went here for a weekend night and the service was very fast! I went in with a party of four and we got out orders relatively quick and the staff were very nice and helpful. I tried their battered shrimp tacos and it was delicious. It is a must pair with their in-house sauces. There is limited seats inside but they offer outdoor seating. The ambiance inside was nice, it was rustic with string lights inside. The prices were affordable and fair as the taco is a big size. Paid around $32 for 4 battered fish and 4 battered shrimp tacos. I would recommend this location if you are craving tacos in SD!“
“I don’t know who gave this place lower than 5 stars but it couldn’t have been because of the food. It’s THE best taco joint I’ve ever been to. And for someone raised in AZ and then spent about 4 years in both SoCal and NorCal, I know what I’m talking about. I had three tacos and chips and salsa. It was almost more than I could eat and I was hungry! Here are the biggest things for me other than the taste of the meats. They literally have (at least) six different salsas. The two brought out with the chips were a green one with cilantro and chunks of avocado. Not spicy enough for me but loved the make up. The other red one is probably in my top 3 salsas ever. The right amount of spice (I like spicy) with great taste and garlic! The other four salsas were decent that came out with the tacos, but for me, the fact that they have six salsas to choose from. Are you kidding me? Great job on whom ever came up with this! Knocked it out of the park. Oh, and btw, Cali beats AZ in overall Mexican food. Just sayin…“
“They are right outside a liquor store in a parking lot, which I love. Honestly, when I saw that, I knew I had to try them. They are open everyday starting at 5pm. They have a large variety of food options. We tried the asada and adobada. Probably the best weve had so far. It's very difficult to find good authentic tasting tacos in the U.S. in my opinion. These were so good that we're going to come back. They are family run and they are very nice.“
“This is definitely a hidden gem of La mesa. Breakfast burritos are delicious and not greasy. They are so stingy though on hot sauce. Which doesn’t make sense because if you die there, you get access to the entire bottle. But they do not give more than four tiny hot sauces for 1 burrito. One of the tiny hot sauce containers is enough for two bites of a burrito.“
“Was looking to grab some quick takeout mexican and came across this spot right off the 163 and gennesse. Its a food truck semi permanently parked on the American legion parking lot on the corner. Menu is limited, even more so when they told me thier fryer was down. So I ordered 2 tacos and the quesadilla. Total with tax and tip was $20. This better be some dam goood birria for that price. Took a seat while waiting for my food, they have a few bar tops with high chairs scattered under a pop up awning as well as a 2 tables with 4 chairs set up. Not too long later they brought out my food telling me that the hot sauce was also in there. Got home and opened up the bag and was immediately disappointed in the portion sizes. Even the hot sauce they included was underwhelming. It was first time I had gotten hot sauce in baggies like I was buying some drugs. Reminded me of baggies of crack you see on tv and in movies being sold o the streets. Pretty funny until you realize this is no where near enough sauce for a meal. I first tried the taco, with the red hot sauce. The taco was good, good tasting birria and fresh onions and cilantro, and a nice tasting tortilla. The hot sauce didn't even last a single taco. Up next is the quesadilla. This was the highlight of my meal. Cheesy meaty goodness, this was worth the $10 price tag. Plenty of cheese, plenty of meat, great flavor. Overall good food but the portion size is a little off for the price. Definitely ask for more hot sauce. 2 dime bags isn't enough.“
“Oh my goodness... It is not fair that I didn't have money to buy more. This was legitimately the best taco I've ever had. I want another one! Or three! Or maybe five! I definitely want more. I gotta make sure to hold on to $21 for their combo next week.“
“Chefs kiss!!! Hot and delicious every single time. The Food, the service and of course the salsa are ALL SO GREAT!!! The restaurant has a place to wash hands as well. I have brought any kids here for years- they love it as well. I'll keep coming back for many years to come. Gracias El Puerto!!!!“
“I love this place. My boyfriend and I live down the street and go at least monthly, sometimes even more. Their potato tacos are chefs kiss. Their jalapeño salsa is also amazing. We never have to wait long and the young cashier is always so friendly when we go in. Their prices are also super affordable! We love this place.“
“Superb fish tacos with consomé broth. Fish was breaded but I could still taste the fish freshness. The chipotle sauce with red pickled onions complemented the taco flavor exquisitely. The restvof my party had birria and shrimp tacos and they were as pleased as me. I didn't get pictures of those though. Size wise, the tacos are good decent size. A bit bigger than average“
“No atmosphere, but that’s not what this place is about. Just a great hole in the wall with good, tasty Mexican food. For vegetarians you can build a burrito to your specifications and they do one dish which is all vegetarian (don’t know what it’s called but it’s tasty). Give it a shot, just be aware of the surroundings. It’s all in and out there.Vegetarian options: Only a few vegetarian options, mainly by you specifying what you want and build your own. Otherwise only 1 actual veggie dish.Parking: Always some parking spots.“
“FIRE CARNITAS! The carne asada burrito was amazing too. I def need to come back for a carnitas burrito though. The chef gave me a carnitas taco while waiting for my carne burritos, and literally made me want to change my mind. But, Ill have to come back and get it next time...“
“Great place to get some tacos! Around $4 tacos of any kind of meat but are small like street tacos. Where theyblack in portion they make up in taste. I had the Pastor, Birria and Tripas and all were so so delicious. Highly recommend if your craving some authentic tacos.“
“It is a different concept from the food truck because it has tables with shade and covers in case it is windy so you can enjoy your food in a very pleasant way with a very affordable price and a really wide variety of dishes, mainly seafood, although they also sell meat and Birria, which is a typical Mexican dish, prices range from $3.50 to seafood dishes of more than $80 for several people. The shrimp burrito is very tasty and I highly recommend it, and the staff is very friendly.“
“Very nice place, recommended without a doubt, starting with the small but comfortable place, very clean, the service provided very well, a very extensive complete menu, shrimp tacos and chilled octopus, I recommend it! A variety of drinks from sodas to beer, a place to go alone as a couple or as a family!VERY FAST FOOD DELIVERY!Wheelchair accessibility: A place suitable for people in wheelchairs, children and seniors!“
“I booked Tacos El Gabacho for my wifes 40th birthday. This family owned business exceeded my expectations. Food was ready on time. They greeted and treated us like family.Details of booking:30 personnel2 hours of serving1-2hrs of prep and same for breakdown. We loved their food and service. We plan on booking for future events.“
“The customer service is excellent here and the food is always fresh to order. I really like that this place has a lot of food options to choose from. The store is nice, cozy and clean. Also there's lots of parking spots near the store if you're planning to drive here.“
“Went in for a quick bite, the man working was super kind and helpful! Took a bite of what was the best carne asada quesadilla I've ever had, the meat was cooked fresh. The tables were all very clean and the place in general looked very clean and tidy. He cleaned the grill after cooking my quesadilla so that was extremely reassuring. All in all 20/10 I'll definitely be back! (The food is also very cheap or what I consider cheap for SD)“
“Great music and even better food. The Adobada is fantastic and they run a deal on Mondays for it. The carne asada was also very good. Taco Machin is the local favorite. They are hand making the tortillas and chips. Everything is wonderful. This place is “
