We had just come from Nighthawk, where we sat at the bar for about 20 minutes without being acknowledged by any of the three bartenders working. The difference when we arrived here was night and day.

“I recently visited Babcock & Story Bar at the iconic Hotel del Coronado, and it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. “Y’all. When I tell you this place is superb, I mean it. My partner and I were celebrating our 3 year anniversary and I wanted to surprise him with a unique experience. When I came across Youngblood, I immediately booked it. You should too!

From start to finish, the time we spent was curated specifically for us. Our menus had a personalization on it that we could take home! The atmosphere is unlike any other- truly a breathtaking maximalist space that felt like a retreat from the streets. The service here was impeccable, with everyone being incredibly kind, educated on mixology, and willing to converse with you. We’ve had a few number of bad experiences elsewhere and last night reminded us what great service looks (and feels) like.

We had some of the best drinks we’ve had in quite some time. The 3 course cocktail tasting menu was fantastic, we loved being able to try new things. Hearing the lore and history behind unique liquors, bitters, and the ingredients was really cool. Dealers choice was amazing, and the dessert cocktail is something we’re still talking about today. They even gave us espresso martini shots with our anniversary printed on it as a treat. How sweet!

Last night we decided to come back for dinner to celebrate our anniversary and it was the best decision we made! We sat on the patio facing the bay at sunset. I'm a speakeasy veteran with a coast to coast cocktail sipping resume that spans from SF to Boston and New Orleans to Chicago, and this spot has definitely landed in my top ten. The atmosphere, the staff, the tunes, and the drinks are all so special and perfectly curated for maximum delight. Every aspect of CMB is comfortable and balanced, and so very easy to enjoy. They found a great groove and kept it going.“

“I absolutely loved our experience at Botanica! Emmi was our waitress, and she made the entire evening feel warm, fun, and genuinely enjoyable. Jacob, the bartender, was also amazing — he makes some of the best cocktails! I had the Espresso Martini, which you can see in the photos, and it was delicious.

The only downside was our initial greeting from the hostess. Unfortunately, she came across as unfriendly and unwelcoming, which made for a disappointing first impression. Since she appears to work Friday and Saturday nights, just be prepared that your experience at the front may not reflect the atmosphere you’ll receive once you’re inside.

Thankfully, Emmi and Jacob completely turned the experience around and made the rest of our night absolutely wonderful. Botanica itself is such a great vibe, and because of them, I would definitely come back.“

Cocktails were decent (solid at best), but food has been inedible or forcibly eaten as we just want to leave and don't want to ask them to remake it. The beef was cold and the potato was the worst latke I've ever eaten. The surprise guava on the creme brulee was tough and similarly inedible. Will stop at in n out for a half decent meal on the way home.“

“I came here on a Tuesday around 5 PM, just as they were opening. They have patio seating right next to the bar as well as a really cute indoor seating area if you prefer to escape the heat.

The bartender was fantastic. She was friendly and on top of it. She appeared to be the only one working, yet there were already eight or nine people on the patio. Even so, she stayed on top of everything, and we never had to wait to place an order or receive our drinks.

I ordered:

• Static Age: This refreshing green cocktail is served in a tall Collins glass and is made with vodka, matcha green tea, vanilla, yuzu, and seltzer. It wasn’t overly liquor-forward, making it light and perfect for a warm afternoon.

• MM..Food?: Served in a cocktail glass, this drink features masala chai rye whiskey, vanilla honey, ginger bitters, lemon, and egg white. While the flavor combination sounded interesting, it ended up being just okay. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t really stand out and wasn’t my favorite of the two.

•Espresso Martini: this was also enjoyable and not too sweet.

Overall, this is a fun spot with a great atmosphere. The courtyard has plenty of energy, live musicians performing, and several restaurants surrounding the area, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a drink. Although none of the cocktails I tried really stood out or have me rushing back for more, it’s a nice spot to stop by.“
