“Happy hour menu tonight and all was exceptional except the jamon croquettes. No flavor at all and they were out of caviar even though it was on the menu!!! Shame!!! However the service at the bar was exceptional! Friendly, professional and timely.“
“Very popular and well loved fine dining but casual Little Italy institution. Beautiful expansive horseshoe bar. Of the four of us, I was the only critic of the food. The ingredients are top-notch, but my salad was too acidic. My braised beef cheeks, a generous portion, were oddly crisped but tender on the inside. The broth was, surprise, acidic. Previously, I had the Branzino wrapped in spec (bacon), which was too salty in that it obliterated the taste of the branzino. Then again, everyone else enjoyed their meals.“
“Updating my review as I fondly remember my visit here more than a year ago. Best restaurant I've ever been to. Got a table by the kitchen and the chef working there was wonderful to talk to. Top notch service, amazing staff. I've never had a better culinary experience. Hope to return here soon.“
“The food at Nine-Ten is amazing. We had their sashimi to start and it was full of flavor and a lovely touch of acidity. We had the duck as an entree, which came with a pretty decent amount of meat, and asparagus and mushrooms on the side. I'm definitely not doing it justice in the description but it was delicious and filling. Not my favorite duck I've ever had but still tasted great. My favorite part was their half baked chocolate cake. It was the perfect cherry on top of a great meal.“
“Pricey. Exquisite atmosphere & delicious foods for dinner. Group of 13 of us booked the Captain’s Room which requires a $800 minimum. Popcorn was served while gathering our orders and it was a unique starter. 100% recommend the duck meatball ($19) and the Molten Chocolate Cake ($12)!“
“The food items were delicious, great selection of interesting dishes. The wine list was impressive (we’ve been to major wine areas all over the planet). However, what we were most impressed with was our server Olivia. She knew the menu items very well - could answer any and all questions that we had. She expressed herself very positively. Rather than ask “are you still working on that?”; she asked “are you still enjoying your meal?” Rather than reply to a thank you with “no problem” or “no worries”; Olivia replied with “my pleasure.” When we go back; we’ll make a point of asking for Olivia!!!“
“SoCalTasting's journey to Mr. A's Bar and Restaurant in Bankers Hill, San Diego was nothing short of extraordinary. With breathtaking water and downtown views and bay paronama, close-up airplane sightings, and the mesmerizing cityscape, it's a must-visit. Our experience was elevated to new heights with mezcal drinks adorned with burnt tobacco leaves, creating a flavor sensation like no other. An unforgettable fusion of views and tastes awaits! Service was fantastic! Definitely going back there soon!“
“Definitely reserve a table if you want to sit on the patio, though keep in mind that it still doesn't guarantee you a table next to the water. Still, the patio seating is beautiful during lunch time on a sunny day.We had forgotten to choose a protein for my salad so I requested salmon on the side after my salad came in. We didn't need to wait long to get it. Their drinks menu is great and they seem to be generous with their stiff drinks.“
“Whether you are popping in for a glass of wine before shopping at Sepulveda next door or having dinner of their wonderful specials that change daily (check Instagram), you will enjoy your experience at Juan Jasper. Lots of lively conversations between the staff and patrons (while still being attentive), varied and upbeat music playing just loud enough in the background, and a direct view of the kitchen makes for a wonderful atmosphere. A small act of consideration and respect by a customer is rewarded by the generous proprietor. This is what service and dining should be. You can see why folks happily wait to get a seat at this local gem. Cannot recommend enough: great for lunch and dinner.“
“Urban Plates is a fantastic dining option for families looking for a healthy and delicious meal. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to gather with loved ones. The menu offers a wide variety of healthy choices, from fresh salads to hearty grain bowls and flavorful proteins. Each dish is made with high-quality ingredients and expertly prepared, ensuring a satisfying and nutritious meal. And let's not forget about dessert - the options are just as delicious as the main courses. From decadent cakes to creamy puddings, there's something to satisfy every sweet tooth.Overall, Urban Plates is a must-visit for anyone looking for a wholesome and enjoyable dining experience. The food is top-notch, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the service is friendly. I can't wait to go back and try more of their delicious offerings.“
“The All American sliders and shrimp flat bread was spot on as usual but it was their draft beers that were not up to par tonight (not as cold as usual) due to them being slammed earlier leaving them with hot glasses. This is where 100% he saved the day. Zach our server on the fly suggested if he can turn these hot glasses into super cold glasses by super dropping the temperature by filling it up with lots of ice and water and then cleaning the cold glasses and topping it up with there tapped IPA immediately. It was effective and the beers were super drinkable again and delicious. Thank u Zach for being absolutely brilliant, entertaining and most of all taking care of your customers from the bottom of your heart!“
“Seasons 52 always goes above and beyond! We have never had a bad meal here! Our waitress was super helpful and knowledgeable about the menu! We loved the wine that she recommended so much that we ended up buying a bottle to take home with us! The lamb was incredible as well as the Filet & Lobster!“
“We stayed nearby Sunnyboy boy during our visit to San Diego and decided to give the place a try one day. Wish we came sooner because the food is delicious! The biscuits and gravy were good but I’d definitely get the fried chicken and biscuits! It does get busy around lunch time but it’s worth the quick wait. The staff is also very nice which is a huge plus!“
“I had a croissant, some French Toast, and a latte here. I really liked the French Toast! It was covered with pine nuts, and was drenched in syrup (which I was kinda surprised by, since I thought the pine not coating was going to prevent the today from soaking up the syrup). The nuts added some nice texture, and the syrup was a good amount of sweet. It was kinda hard to cut into, so I just kind of had to bite into the toast slices (maybe that's intended, though). The croissant and the latte were decent; nothing too eye opening for them but they I liked them a decent amount (I think the croissant is maybe good, with something else that is more savory than what I got). Overall, I liked what I got, and am happy to go again!“
“We stopped here for some after dinner drinks. What a great decision! We really enjoyed the ciders and the seltzers. Excited to try some of the best next time we come. There was trivia the night we were there and there are patio heaters to keep you warm in the evening. Would recommend for tourists and locals!“
“Del Mar has grown up!I lived in Del Mar in the 80s and 90s, to see Del Mar and what we called east Del Mar, north city west today, it's unrecognizable. The cute little beach village 92014 retains the same feel. East of the 5 is now a destination for the bougie trendy crowd. The shopping is fantastic, the theatre's top-notch the food and atmosphere is as good or better then the best zips in the state.Nicks fits in perfectly. The place is classy, clean, and delicious.Top this off with world-class service, and it is a must-visit.“
“There were no tables so we had to sit at the bar. Be sure to make reservations for a Saturday night. I ordered the Spicy burger and it tasted delicious. A little on the greasy side but still pretty good. Had to wipe my hands after each bite. There was a Serrano pepper in my burger which made it super spicy. The clam chowder was perfection. Service was wonderful. Definitely coming back.“
“TL;DR amazing rustic decor with equally amazing new American-style food to match I came here on a weekday to hang out with some friends and was recommended by the attendant in their adjoining coworking space that the chicken sandwiches were the choice to make and it definitely didn't disappoint. Keeping it short and simple, I rarely ever crave new American cuisine since it's a hit or miss and some are good but most are mediocre with a price tag that isn't palatable, however, Bivouac was a clear exception The chicken sandwich was great, it was juicy and tender on the inside with a nice crispy exterior. The bun was lightly toasted inside and the cheese paired with the arugula and pickled onions were a blissful pair. The pickled onions cut through the fattiness and the arugula added a nice slightly bitter flavor contrast that I enjoyed Food aside, the decor was also well aligned with there themed location next door, the seating we had was a swing in a c-shape and moved all the c-shaped bench together which added a bit of thrill. It felt similar to a childhood experience and felt like one of those swings you'd have in your grandparent's yard or something similar Overall the setting and food were something I would come back to, if the interior was the only hallmark of this place I would likely not come back but the food from everyone I was with seemed to suit their taste buds well and equally fill everyone up“
“Classic San Diego indoor-outdoor set up where you can't tell if your table is in the dining room or the patio. They kept the feel of the old dealership which was neat! Vegetable dishes were so fun and satisfying, especially when you wipe the plate with the sourdough. Roasted carrots were an explosion of flavors, as was the caulilini. Oreo beignets were a little on the undercooked side but a fun option. Mezcal drinks were also great!“
“I've been meaning to write this review but I keep forgetting. This was my first 3 star Michelin dining experience and I just want to say the service was absolutely impeccable. I was impressed from start to finish with the service. The restaurant can be quite drafty so I recommend dressing warm, but I think the server could tell I was a little cold so he brought heated pillows for me and switched it out throughout the entire dinner. It's the little extra touches that really elevates the dining experience for me. Onto the food though, we enjoyed majority of the dishes, there were a few misses but I thoroughly enjoyed mostly everything. Is it worth the price tag? I definitely think so. I can also see why it was awarded 3 stars. The wagyu dish was my favorite extra dish, I was not a fan of the extra truffle dish and that was probably my least favorite of the evening. Also just to note if you're dining at the late dinner service the street is quite dark and parking can be a tad confusing. When we walked up to the restaurant we weren't quite sure if we were at the right spot. But once you enter and see the hostess they'll guide you to the bar.“
“We needed a good brunch place to finish celebrations for our friend's birthday and BAR did not disappoint. We were so happy to have live jazz entertainment. The food was very good and we were treated to a glass of champagne to toast our friend. Small but sweet touches made this brunch memorable. Thank you BAR.“
“Don't eat for 2 days before heading there. Uber large portions of food on a platter. Superb taste all around! My favorite place for a nice hearty brunch‼️❤️Wheelchair accessibility: There is an access ramp. Place is ADA compliant.“
“Here in town for mine and my boyfriends anniversary and we randomly looked up bars near our hotel. This one popped up and we decided to go! Sooooo glad we went! The food was absolutely amazing!!!! Those ginger soy marinated wings were soooooo flavored omg. I wanted more and more haha! The service was amazing, if you don't sit at the bar top, you can order from a side window and I swear my drinks came out in less than 2 minutes and the whole place was packed! The guy working the window was extremely friendly and we felt welcome the second we walked in! Will DEFINITELY be back!“
“Me and my hubby have been driving by this place for a while and kept saying, we need to go there. We finally did it tonight and it was awesome! Angela was super friendly and made us feel welcomed. The food was amazing! We will definitely go back. It is a good place to unwind after a long day at work. We are happy it's close to our place. Please support local businesses, especially places like this one that care about the community“
“Host and server were very nice. Street parking only. Get there as early as you can as they fill up fast. Prices were a bit high as it is La Jolla after all. Outside you can smell the sea Lion waste. Food was ok. My fav was the jam for my toast.“
“We went for weekend brunch and since we had reservations, we were seated immediately.Pros: We had the wood fired cauliflower and chicken sandwich. The wood fired cauliflower was simply delicious with a burst of flavors (tangy, sweet with a little bit of spice). The portion size is particularly small for this dish but we were warned by the waitress beforehand so we knew what to expect. The chicken sandwich was nice and juicy.Cons: For a brunch place, the only coffee option they had was the drip coffee. So if you're looking for a nice cup of latte or espresso or cappuccino, you won't find it here.“
“"Wings were good." - from my 13 year old dining partner! We LOVE sandbar. We come here every time we stay on mission beach. It's a sports bar, downstairs can be kind of loud - but the tv's are great for march madness watching! We always start with the AMAZING pretzel bite appetizer. Always the best.Tonight I had a cobb salad. Got exactly what i expected & it was refreshing. The little dude ordered the wings and enjoyed the Spicy Garlic Ranch sauce. YUM. The only reason I took off one star was that I never got a water refill our whole meal. The upstairs is really our favorite part of the restaurant, but it was a little too cold to sit up there tonight!Great job and of course we will be back!Kid-friendliness: It's great! Kids are never questioned and the servers treat them like adults! Super appreciate that it's a bar, but also family friendly!“
“A couple days ago there was a post asking about the best eggs benedict in OB. A lot of people had recommended Surf Lodge and since I was unfamiliar with eggs benedict (and it is something I would not usually order), guess where I visited yesterday on my day off. ? I went to OB Surf Lodge and had to try their well talked about Crab & Bacon Benny which is seasoned crab cakes, sliced tomato, arugula, crumbled bacon, poached eggs & hollandaise served on rustic sourdough. I now see why it was well recommended as it was a happily delicious meal. Surf Lodge is also a great spot to just lounge and people watch while feeling the ocean breeze blowing through their spot. I got to talking with David the manager after I had already placed my order and he said he loves this meal and instead of it on sourdough toast he gets it on English muffins. I feel that’s a valuable pro insider tip and now can’t wait to try it again that way.“
“We had a client event here and everything was perfect starting with the initial coordination and planning with Mason until the very end of the reception. Mason was very open and flexible in meeting our needs and made the perfect food suggestions. The space is fantastic, all of our guests commented on what a great place it is. Very accommodating offering enough room to socialize and enjoy the food and drinks. The food was tasty and presented nicely and the drinks were carefully curated by experienced bartenders. Everyone working at Madam Bonnie’s were professional and truly understood good customer service. I can not express enough how much we appreciated Mason and his team’s help in making our client event a success.“
“First time visiting this place. It was a cute, cozy atmosphere. It feels like you're in someone's home. They have a full bar and food menu. I ordered the steak and fries and the BF ordered a burger. We started with their calamari and drinks. I have to say, everything was GOOD. Food was fresh and delicious. My bloody mary was really good and well put together. Service could have been better, but I don't regret trying this place.“
“It's a good time! Very entertaining and we laughed the whole time. We look forward to enjoying another Girls night out at Lips, sometime in the future. For everything included in the price, it was very reasonable. Next time we will be better prepared with entertainers tip money. Drinks are an extra cost but those of us who enjoy a drink or two did not mind.I highly recommend Lips for a very good time!“
“This diner/bar is a nice place to go to grab a quick bite at an affordable rate. They're open for breakfast. And it's so good. Service was fast and friendly. And the place looked decently clean. Tho it looks as if they have a closer or two that likes to cut corners, so be mindful. ;) expect to spend at least $10 - $15 for a meal and a drink.“
“Love coming here on an evening after work. A great place to have a killer cocktail or glass of wine. The place is so classy and when it is packed on a weekend brunch it is lively and fun! I’m always helped by Roberto the manager who is here to make sure the evening is smooth and comfortable. I came for dinner once with my partner during restaurant week and the food was gorgeous. I recommend!“
“4.5 out of 5I really wanted to give this place a full 5 stars. I'll start with why I couldn't and end with why you should come here anyway.Cons:I ordered from here twice, and both times I got the pesto chicken sandwich (YUM) with different sides. The first time I ordered the garlic Parmesan fries and I got so many! I was very happy with the portion. The second time I got grilled veggies for an extra $3 and while they were delicious, I got three cauliflower heads and four large slices of squash. After seeing the fries portion AND paying an extra $3 for grilled veggies, I was disappointed in the portion size. See photos. Also, I'm a ranch girl, and their homemade ranch is dying for more herbs.Pros:The food was great (except the ranch). I tried the brussel sprouts, chicken sandwich, Mac salad, Verde Cesar side salad, PB&J cheesecake, and the garlic Parmesan fries. I was very happy with the taste of all of the things I got!The service was great. They were fairly busy but both times I was there the food came out quickly and the people behind the counter were patient, friendly and helpful. During the dinner rush the server knew many people's names and showed they had a lot of regulars.Inside it's cozy and hard to feel out of place, even for someone like me just passing through. It's small inside but they have an outdoor seating area with pretty lights at night. I very much recommend this restaurant and am happy to give them my money!“
“This place is delicious! There was no wait time, which was surprising because it was Sunday noon. The place was very nice, the atmosphere and the vibes were great! The plates are individually designed, but you can definitely share them with your +1. I ordered the short ribs omelet, turkey Benedict, and Dutch pancake. And to drink a pitcher of Sandia Margarita. Everything was exquisite! 10 out of 10!!Oh! And the waiters... LOVED them!!!“
“A (literally) hidden gem. The restaurant rests beside a small pond, found only by following a trail from the parking lot. Sitting outside under a cozy heat lamp, my husband enjoyed trying several beers while I had a POG seltzer. The service was fantastic, and the food was the best we'd had in a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed the locally crafted sausages and the baked mac n cheese. I learned that the sauces and dressings are made in house. My husband had the ahi nachos - chips and sauces also made in house. We'll be coming back!“
“I attended a wonderful birthday dinner at the Parado. The outside patio was the perfect setting for our group of four. Our waiter Beto gave us excellent service. He was very knowledgeable about the menu items and gave us specific details about the ingredients. The beet salad on a bed of arugula was fresh and well presented. My sea bass was cooked to perfection, moist with a nice sear on top.The German chocolate cake and coffee topped off an enjoyable meal. The excellent service and courtesy from the Parado emplyees really set the bar high.“
“This locally sourced eatery is a terrific place and no doubt a hidden gem in San Diego.I stopped in for breakfast and ordered the breakfast sandwich, which came with three cage free eggs, sharp white cheddar, arugula, a chipotle aioli, on toasted brioche buns. You can add Nueske bacon to the sandwich for an extra fee.I loved that they used a soft scramble for their egg preparation. They did a great job on the eggs. They were light and fluffy. The eggs were very tasty, and the thick cut bacon was very flavorful and had a good chew. I loved that they took the time to toast the brioche buns. The aioli was tasty, the arugula peppery, and the white cheddar had a touch of sharpness.I had a cortado with my breakfast, and it was great. They offer a quality Italian roast. The cafe offers inside and outside seating. They also have grown many of the herbs they use on the premise. They offer great customer service.“
“The best place for breakfast on this side of the border! Authentic is here! Yes sir! Yes ma'am! Come through it's win, win ? win situation! No regrets except not finding this place sooner ??!Congratulations to the cook, the owner and everyone else that makes this place different! Great difference!“
“This is a go to favorite spot for my book club. The food here is always amazing and the atmosphere is lovely. The owner is a great person and helpful. This past year they were willing to host my book club even though they also had two other large parties (and it was raining). The service is always great and accommodating. The closed in patio is lovely and great for your pup. They are dog friendly! We will definitely be back and would recommend it to others.Parking: The lot in front is usually busy and full. The street spots are usually taken as well. If you go around to the back there is a paid lot with plenty of parking.“
“Be prepared- if you order the cheese board, it's a full meal! Absolutely delicious with fresh bread and fruit. I halved the burger with a friend, and it was outstanding as well. The cocktails are amazing and beautiful to look at. The service was fantastic. Highly, highly recommend! Would done again“
“Came here for lunch with a coworker and had their nachos and their fish and chips. I also ordered the chicken wings which were really good. The nachos were good and so were the toppings. The fish and chips were good and came with brussels sprouts that were pretty tasty. The staff is friendly here and the ambience is cute. Will definitely come back again to try more of their menu. Not to mention the prices were great too.“
“I usually 'yelp' when I'm upset...not this time though, it's 2 for 2 at this particular Phil's. Truth be told (have lived in San Diego now coming up on 40 yrs) I just started coming here when I had to go to a different pharmacy nearby. I can only say that both times were very close to a religious experience. I am a believer now! I plan to return on my "cheat day" and get a plate of beef ribs! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!“
“An awesome little gem nestled away at the One America Plaza trolley stop! The service was warm, friendly and upbeat. I felt so welcome. And the taco trio was outstanding -- I couldn't finish it (the little side of tortilla chips and salsa were delicious, too! I added avocado and it elevated already perfect tacos. I work nearby and this was my first time here. Will definitely be back!“
“This place is great! Only positive experiences the whole way through.Rooms: Feels like a bed and breakfastNearby activities: All the old town shops and restaurants.Walkability: Perfect for an old town visit and very close to the airport.Noteworthy details: Historical property, right in the middle of old town San Diego. There is even a shuttle from old town to the airport.“
“La Jolla has no shortage of fabulous brunch spots. Shorehouse is great because it's a casual spot with large portions and good eats. They have seating both inside and outside. They are able to accommodate large groups and you can join the waitlist online to better time your wait. I've always had great service at Shorehouse, so it's become a bit of a favorite in our rotation. They have savory and sweet breakfast items. I tend towards the savory, but my mother in law always gets the pancakes with the chantilly cream that is a great added touch!“
“Omg - such a cool Brunch spot! Please get the breakfast burrito. It was sooooo good! Staff is so friendly and helpful. It started to rain and no questions asked, they moved us immediately. Cool and hip ambiance. Would probably only recommend when the weather is good enough to go there!“
“It was my first time ever coming to this place and it was a really busy night, however the bartender Jason made us feel right at home he made time for us throughout the night even though he had a full plate the experience was lovely drinks food and laughs. Definitely coming again.“
“The food was fabulous. Would have liked to see a little more feta cheese on the brussel sprouts, that's just nitpicking. They were pushing staff to get their breaks out of the way before the dinner rush started (we got there a bit after 4:00), so our waiter took our order, then had to leave. Other people delivered the food, then disappeared as well, leaving us pretty much unattended. Turned out to be a non-issue, but someone should have come by the table one time while we were eating. We WILL be back.“
“Great Mapel is a great spot for breakfast, brunch or lunch! On a Saturday morning we had about 30 minutes before we could be seated, but the surrounding neighborhoods are super nice for a quick walk. The food presentation is immaculate, and it tastes as good as it looks! The atmosphere is very laid back, and the music was a vibe. Staff was super friendly too! A little pricey but worth every penny.Parking: Not a TON of spots, but usually just enough for a busy day.“
