We were there over a holiday weekend (and during World Cup games) - so it seemed like they were short-staffed, but that might be different on 'normal' weekends.“

“We had a great dining experience at Urban Plates in Long Beach. Mariana explained the menu choices in a very unrushed manner, and we decided on the steak. I ordered the Chimichurri grass-fed steak with balsamic brussel sprouts and herb-roasted potatoes. All of it was delicious ( and healthy too!). The deserts were absolutely killer too. We will definitely eat here again next time we're in Long Beach.“

“Very fun and lively atmosphere! The design is very well done. The food was great, I personally loved the oysters as they were served differently than I have experienced. The jalapeño Caesar salad was also amazing! Had a kick! Main dishes I enjoyed were the burger, and the chicken, very good and flavorful. Very fun and different cocktails to choose from along with fun zero proof options which is great if you do not drink alcohol. Service was spectacular, very kind, professional and knowledgeable about the menu. We will be coming back!“

“I attended Juniper & Ivy for a small post-wedding reception. The space was nice and sectioned off from the rest of the restaurant, although it was loud at times because it’s separated by a curtain. It did still feel private, which was great. Although I was the photographer at this wedding, the staff was still super nice and was able to get me a vegetarian meal. They also let the couple bring in their own cakes, which was great! I’d recommend this spot for a smaller reception for sure.“

“Such a great dining experience in the heart of Balboa Park.

Emiliano was our waiter and absolutely made the experience. We let him help guide us through the menu, and he did not disappoint.

We started with the pear and beet salad and masa-fried squash blossoms, then worked our way through the Vietnamese pork meatballs and lamb seekh, and finished with the Wagyu burger. Every dish brought something completely different to the table, which made sharing everything even more fun.

The food was beautifully presented, full of flavor, and just adventurous enough without trying too hard. Add the atmosphere of being right in the heart of Balboa Park, and it made for such a memorable meal.

Definitely ask for Emiliano and let him help you choose you won't be disappointed.“

“We have been coming here for the last 3 years since we moved to SD and it's time i leave the review they deserve! They have always given us great service even while having a 1 year old. “We are staying nearby and stopped here for breakfast on a recommendation. It was a good choice. We tried the Beachside Burritos with beef. Very good food! The atmosphere was pretty good. Had a view of the ocean while eating. The servers were all friendly but there was a very long delay in our order being served. They made it right immediately but they would’ve known earlier if they stopped by to check on us just a bit more frequently. I don’t have a strong complaint. It just kept it from being a 5-star review this time.“

“My wife and I went to this cozy place for dinner based on a recommendation. GOOD CALL! Our server was pleasant and checked in on us to make sure we were happy. The food was delivered fast and hot. We shared the 16 oz. T-bone steak. It came out pre cut, ready to share. We also ordered a wonderfully great big salad and a wonderful empanada with beef. The empanada was pleasantly spicy, but not overly. The steak came with lovely potatoes. We also ordered a side of broccolini. I’m not a big veg guy, but I have to say the broccolini was delicious. All said the meal wasn’t the cheapest, but was worth every bite.“

Lara was gracious enough to let me host my journal club in her space and everyone loved it! The food and drinks were delicious and it was the perfect ambiance for a Camp themed event! Cannot speak enough about how much I loved hosting here!“
