“I live out east nowadays, but I visit my hometown in La Mesa yearly. Came to Curbside for the first time last year, and just now went back again. I wish we had food like this around here when I was growing up!! My gosh, the short rib beef is incredible. Had it on a salad last time, and just now had the short rib taco along with an equally impressive fish taco. I got a few bites of the beef kebab too, and it was just as top-notch! Great seating options with a view of La Mesa Blvd. Good beer list too. And wonderful staff. I wish I had more time to try more of the menu—but I’ll be back every time I’m in San Diego down the line. “We had a great dining experience at Urban Plates in Long Beach. Mariana explained the menu choices in a very unrushed manner, and we decided on the steak. I ordered the Chimichurri grass-fed steak with balsamic brussel sprouts and herb-roasted potatoes. All of it was delicious ( and healthy too!). The deserts were absolutely killer too. We will definitely eat here again next time we're in Long Beach.“

“Such a great dining experience in the heart of Balboa Park.

Emiliano was our waiter and absolutely made the experience. We let him help guide us through the menu, and he did not disappoint.

We started with the pear and beet salad and masa-fried squash blossoms, then worked our way through the Vietnamese pork meatballs and lamb seekh, and finished with the Wagyu burger. Every dish brought something completely different to the table, which made sharing everything even more fun.

The food was beautifully presented, full of flavor, and just adventurous enough without trying too hard. Add the atmosphere of being right in the heart of Balboa Park, and it made for such a memorable meal.

Definitely ask for Emiliano and let him help you choose you won't be disappointed.“

“We have been coming here for the last 3 years since we moved to SD and it's time i leave the review they deserve! They have always given us great service even while having a 1 year old. “My wife and I went to this cozy place for dinner based on a recommendation. GOOD CALL! Our server was pleasant and checked in on us to make sure we were happy. The food was delivered fast and hot. We shared the 16 oz. T-bone steak. It came out pre cut, ready to share. We also ordered a wonderfully great big salad and a wonderful empanada with beef. The empanada was pleasantly spicy, but not overly. The steak came with lovely potatoes. We also ordered a side of broccolini. I’m not a big veg guy, but I have to say the broccolini was delicious. All said the meal wasn’t the cheapest, but was worth every bite.“

Love the brisket and tri-tip, and the cornbread is always great! If you want good BBQ in east county this is our favorite!! (Was a little warm inside, even the server was sweating but it was an extremely hot day and better than outside!)“

“Bivouac Adventure Lodge is such a gorgeous space! Every little detail is extremely intentional and you can tell so much thought and love has gone into curating the space. Lara was gracious enough to let me host my journal club in her space and everyone loved it! The food and drinks were delicious and it was the perfect ambiance for a Camp themed event! Cannot speak enough about how much I loved hosting here!“

“Stayed for a week at Hotel Republic. Trade restaurant is right next to the reception area inside the hotel. The hotel charges a daily 25$ fee and one of the perks from that is you can eat either at this restaurant or Topside on the floor above, with 25$ daily refund, even the morning you checkout - just need to charge it to your room. I was always having proper meals outside, but showed up 4 times during my stay here just to get something extra. Really liked their soup of the day - it was creamy potato the night I went. The steak fries plate is very oily and a huge size too. The breakfast burrito was okay. The hummus was really good. The staff are all very friendly.“

“Juan Jasper Kitchen & Wine is an absolute little gem that delivers an incredible dining experience from start to finish. Everything we ordered was perfectly cooked, showcasing wonderful attention to detail, and the daily special was an absolute standout.

The staff is genuinely friendly and attentive, making you feel instantly welcome, and while the restaurant is small, it's very clean and cozy. Parking in the area is surprisingly easy, which takes away any pre-dinner stress.

The only drawback was our seating outside the rail, which put us right on the sidewalk where a particular passerby kept pacing back and forth, and we had to deal with quite a few flies during our meal. However, neither of those things is the fault of the restaurant and it certainly didn't overshadow how fantastic the food and service were. I highly recommend them!

“A fun place to visit before Padres games, or if you're interested in visiting a local distillery. Storyhouse distills Boubon, Rye,
Vodca, & Tequila, and mixes numerous drinks at the bar. We also had Blackened Fish Tacos & Wings which were good. They do have a decent menu which includes burgers, fries, pizza, etc. Recommended.“
