“The food is as good as it looks! I couldn’t believe it when my parents asked me if I wanted to go to a Revolutionary War tavern replica & museum near the beach in northern San Diego. Like, huh? But the building reminded me of growing up on the east coast, and the museum reminded me of how lucky we are to have this country & those who fought for it. I loved the cozy interior with brick and wood. My parents are regulars, so they know the server, and he was super nice. They have a great Old Fashioned, and we all got the Seafood Trio (mine with double cod). The fingerling potatoes were to die for. It was all delicious. Amazing Caesar salad, too. Definitely had leftovers. Excited to go back for their happy hour. Can’t wait to try wagyu sliders, mussels, and clam chowder. Seriously, it all sounds good. Definitely worth a trip! And you’ll be back to try it all 😁“

“My wife and I dined here tonight for our 5 year anniversary. The staff is super nice and the service is amazing. The walkways are a little tight it feels a bit packed in - but they are trying to optimize for seating space and comfort. Our server was John he has worked at the resturante for over 20 years. He was really funny he told us a joke that make me laugh really hard. He said you know the 3 rings of marriage don't you? The engagement 'ring'. The wedding 'ring'. And finally the suffe-'ring'! Haha. The owner came by and said watch this place is going to be packed. He said I wish Monday was a Sunday so we could be packed again. The food was great the service was top notch. Trust me my wife is super picky. Not a cheap dinner out. In terms of a special dinner - or celebrating something nice you will be pleased with the result and price. Again my wife is extremely picky (tries to be GF) and she was very happy (she said it feels like we are on one of great cruise trip dinners with celebrity! that's a very high compliment for her - very rare - she loves a good cruising experience!). We will be coming back again. Thank you Pamplemousse Grill for making my wife happy!

“Amazing food!!! We got a few things on the menu today. We got the firebird , cali dip , kids meal chicken nuggets . Let’s start with the firebird .. amazing sweet and spicy taste with big nice pickles to maintain the heat overall recommend this sandwich . The Cali Dip was delicious sweet and so much flavor I’d have to say one of the best “Tortas” I ever ate . The fries are the best !!! Sauces are so yummy. Everything was about $47 but SO WORTH IT!“

There are too many new fast-food burger places opening around here and we need an alternative (if you want a burger Habit Burger or Shake Shack are great). “The food here is always good. I don't think anything on the menu has ever disappointed. Beer is also good, Karl Strauss makes a good brew. The mac n' cheese is always surprisingly good, as are their burgers. The atmosphere of the old sushi place makes for a calming meal, and the koi pond is always fun to check out while walking in.

Also I'm often amazed at how long this place has been here. I'm pretty sure I came often in the 1900s...“

“It’s our annual place to be every August for the last 17 years: celebrating 50 years of marriage! The food, service and atmosphere right on the beach is heavenly. “Amazing view, but the place was so incredibly loud inside. Luckily, they also have a self service deck on the side of the restaurant and my party just moved out there. I got the happy hour burger and Mac and cheese. Unfortunately, the burger was very salty and the Mac and cheese didn’t really have much cheese on it. Someone else in my party got the fish sandwich and it was amazing!

Went back for happy hour and got the fish sandwich, unfortunately there really wasn’t much fish at all in my sandwich, this photo was only after a couple of bites. However, the sandwich was really yummy. I also tried the bean dip, it was ok, pretty lemony and not really my thing. They also only gave 3 tiny slices of bread and a couple of chips to eat the dip, which was not enough to eat the dip. I also got the fries and they were amazing. Overall, I really like this place, I just wish they were a little bit more consistent.“

“Yesterday's early lunch at the Public House was idyllic. This spot never disappoints, in fact, with each visit I am more enchanted. The food was great. “Great venue and Great service“

“We frequent here regularly when in San Diego and I would say our recent experience was subpar compared to our normal experience. It was Labor Day weekend so perhaps they were more slammed than normal but the service was inconsistent. We went for long stretches without seeing our waitress but when we did see her service was good. My biggest complaints were with the location of our table and the food expo. Our food was not all brought out at once we received two items then 5 minutes later two more items and then another 5 minutes before our last items. It wouldn't have been as big of a deal if one of the last items they sent was plain noodles for my toddler. Probably the fastest and easiest item and the thing we needed first. Plus when the food runners dropped off food they just dropped and ran. Usually they ask if we need anything (which we did) but we didn't even have a chance to ask. The biggest issue was our table. There were quite literally flies everywhere that kept landing on our food. I had specifically requested an indoor table when I reserved but seeing as they were busy I didn't want to be annoying. However the amount of flies made it impossible to eat. I finally had to ask if they had a fan fly which should have been offered right away. Also there were multiple ants crawling on the table and on my daughter's high chair which is especially concerning when they were crawling on my toddlers food. We made the best of it but I would refuse to sit outside again. It was louder outside with a few big parties and definitely warmer. Our total bill for 4 adults 2 kids with 4 alcohol beverages and one dessert was about $240“

“Nine of us had lunch here on a busy Saturday-glad we had reservations! The waitress did a fabulous job taking care of us and all our many requests. The food was excellent as well-the only exception might be the funfetti pancakes, which were a little sweet. My one BIG complaint was the LOUD MUSIC, especially the THUMPING BASS. I asked several times if they could turn down the volume, but no luck. I want to preserve my hearing, and for that reason I will not dine here again.“

“Delicious food and drink! I’m from out of town but visit San Diego regularly. I always look forward to eating at Karl Strauss Brewing Co. One of my favorite meals is the black bean burger. It’s so delicious - tastes as good as a regular burger to me. So much flavor. The service is great and employees are friendly. I’m usually by myself so I eat at the bar and they sometimes offer samples of beers that compliment my meal. Looking forward to my next visit! 😋“
