“Great spot for coffee and lunch. I know a lot of reviews say it's a great place to work from, I have to say I disagree. This is an awesome coffee shop and it has wifi, but it also plays screamo/hard rock music which isn't the most conducive for working and they only allow laptops at certain tables. Will definitely be back but sans laptop.“
“Wow. This place is so cute and beautiful. Fresh flowers everywhere, baked goods showing, great food. They have fresh muffins, breakfast and lunch options. Great prices. We had the La Mesa omelet or the one with bacon and avocado. Country Benedict, Greek salad with chicken, and the Spinach croissant.“
“A nice salty little tap room in a place we never would have found if our dog hadn't broken a $550 nail... The bartender was the pleasantly gruff you would want to expect at a wee neighborhood place. He definitely had me nailed just walking in for a Porter, the wartime chocolate, and a fine pick it was. As always in San Diego, a very IPA heavy menu (5 IPA, 3 cream, 2 sour) out of 16 taps, but the Kolsh was good as well. Atmosphere was very nice, for a cozy little place, especially for Canadian WWII buffs. If I am back this way, I will be back.“
“Love this place. I have gone a few times and each time has been a good experience. Went at night and they only had one server at the time and she was doing it all. Serving drinks and food. Props to her. Atmosphere is great. Drinks are affordable, and the food is good.“
“This restaurant is in downtown La Mesa seriously amazing. Probably the best burger I've ever had. I got to be the last burger before they sold out. it was so juicy but honestly this sauce they put on top has like southwest flavoring, and they have roasted poblano peppers on top of the burger. So much flavor but not falling apart. This place is clean, nice and the most accommodating staff. The owners were there and took care of us personally. It's definitely worth the line.“
“Decided to check this place out with a friend real fast, and we were satisfied. The games were half off. The staff guy was really sweet & fun and the music was really good. It's a small spot, but there are lots of drinks, so it's definitely worth checking out! The baja Blast Seltzer was one of my favorites !!!!“
“I loved their mocha! Great local coffee place and café. Lots of outdoor seating and parking. The staff was super friendly. Great experience! I will definitely be back. My only disappointment is that they do not have merch! Would have loved to get a fun T-shirt, hat or beanie. Coffee culture is a thing. Coffee lovers like to collect merch from memorable coffee houses in our travels. Hopefully next time I am in town, I will be able to pick up a fun T-shirt. ??☕️ ?“
“100% transparent review. Parkings a little tight Food is 100% worth every bite.(I got the biscuits and gravy plus) Service was great, the young man serving made returners feel like regulars. Will definitely bring my family back not only for the food but to also add a little color.“
“I'm a regular visitor, live in the neighborhood. There's something about this brewing, it has its own charm. They have sour and regular beers. Two separate warehouses. I prefer regular and there are lots to choose from. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday they have food track till 8 pm and live music on weekends. The atmosphere and people are very nice here. It feels like a family:). I recommend visiting this place on the weekend evening.“
“Second visit - glad we went back! Just as great as the first visit. Had a wonderful time last night during restaurant week. Excellent option!s! We chose the restaurant week menu - one veal, and upgraded one meal to try the seafood special - sea bass. Delicious. Rice ball appetizers and meatballs. The almond tort for dessert was amazing. Service was excellent even though restaurant was full. Food timing perfect and servers were friendly and fun.“
“I'm not sure if this place is run by a singular individual, but both times I've been a patron the man in the shack was lovely. Kind, patient, and makes a delicious drink. It's not the strongest coffee around, but an excellent option.“
“Going to this place is a must! Very friendly service and great environment. The owner is usually there to greet us every time we go there. The food is delicious and tastes fresh.I have tried many delicious plates but my favorite dish is menudo. I just love menudo and they make it very good.I would give this place 10 starts if I could.“
“Best pizza in East county. This is coming from someone who grew up in the Tri State area. I'm used to having some of the best pizza New York and New Jersey have to offer. This place would be comparable by far compared to every other pizza spot I been to in East county. We love coming here and my kids love it too.“
“Excellent flavor. Really fresh & Sweet fruit for a side was an outstanding surprise! The sandwich had ample turkey and the house salad dressing was a variation of a sweet Italian with a green twist. Salsa with the burrito had a robust chili flavor. Will be returning.“
“This place has great subs, especially the hot pastrami. The pizza is great too! The dough is so good, the sauce tastes great, fresh ingredients and they always use A LOT of cheese. Definitely one of my go-to spots for comfort food. I went for breakfast once and it was very good with big portions, Im just not a morning person. I typically call ahead and pick up, they get me in and out quick.“
“Hands down the best vegan bakery in town! The donuts are a taste sensation - delicious AF! From classic to creative, they nail it. A must-visit for vegans and donut lovers alike. Kudos to the bakers - you've created a plant-based paradise!“
“Delicious Vietnamese coffee. Plenty of parking, seating (mainly indoor), and delicious options. Quiet enough to study. Barista could use a refresher on customer service etiquette (no greeting. no smile). Desk/Window for pick up was small/cluttered (maybe it was a busy morning?).“
“This restaurant was a perfectly cozy place to bring our extended family (including two toddlers) to during the Thanksgiving weekend. Reservations were easy to make, the waiter was knowledgeable, prompt, and kind, and the food was delicious from appetizers to their spritzes and main course. Parking was easy, the restrooms were clean and we left happily full and well-served within 90 minutes, which is pretty awesome for a full restaurant!“
“The espresso was insanely sweet, rich, and ready almost before I finished asking for it. They also had vegan churro donuts that day.I don't know what the deal is with "Jennifer K" (reviewer below) but the baristas who were there when I went in were very kind and attentive.“
“We went to Smokey and the brisket on a Friday with my husband's family, we all have various wants and desires and Nicki handled all of our very different things with grace and professionalism. From our crying child about a cheese pizza to our grumbling bride working on her veil (at a BBQ place I know not the best idea but I was trying to get it done before Sunday) his family had flown in and were starving. She was fast and considerate to us and all around made that experience. Even joked with me about how a chicken sandwich without pickles was a crime against chicken sandwiches everywhere. She made our visit very pleasant. Nicki was the best!“
“Does and done to heaven. Their Thursday oyster happy hour special is delicious. Handcrafted cocktails will not disappoint. Service is ok as it is extremely busy during dinner. You don't get a ton of attention. However, I feel that the quality of the food makes up for it.“
“I really like this sandwich shop and love that I can get a small sandwich and soup and it'll can be stretched to two meals. The sandwiches are fresh, the breads, meats, and they are not shy with the veggies. They also have a great selection of soups that is hard to find these days. You can order ahead online or in-person- either works and the service is fast and friendly.“
“Late dinner, not real busy was nice, not loud, food was really good we really enjoyed it. Nice people, friendly.. food was warm and tasty. The hibiscus water was delicious and homemade, not too sweet. I'm definitely coming back.Parking: The lot is shared with 7-11. Wasn't busy when we went, but it may be busy depending on times and days.“
“Came here on a weekend afternoon to try some beers. There are picnic tables outside and they had a Mexican food cart in front of the brewery. This is a nice brewery tucked away in La Mesa. Unfortunately I didn’t care too much for the beer selection that they had, there was nothing that really well with me, but I really enjoyed the location and the staff were very friendly. I will pop in another time when the tops rotate to try out some more beers.“
“From the outside it looks a bit deceiving. Dark area but relatively safe. had been coming here for years and it's always been one of my favorite local dive bars until I moved on temporary assignment for a few years. Now that I'm back its still the same chill vibe, decent crowd and good spot to shoot a little pool and meet a friend or 2 for drinks. Has a patio as well as great service and food when they. are serving.“
“I had yogurt ice cream at The Yogurt Mill for the first time this past week and was very pleased with the atmosphere, customer service and what I ordered. I had the chocolate yogurt ice cream with milk chocolate chips in a medium size and it was perfect and delicious - and I am particular about what I like in yogurt ice cream because they are not all the same in quality. The owner of the business was very pleasant and helpful and the store was attractive and clean. We go to La Mesa's main street now and then and now I know where to go in the future for great yogurt ice cream there.“
“I've seen this place for yearssss and never thought to stop in, but my salon hosted a dinner here, and this place was a little vibe, kinda lowkey . The food was good with live music . Definitely gave a casino vibe with the decor, but it's definitely a cool little date spot with ya friends or man's “
“All of their food here is great is great at reasonable prices. I also shop here a lot for items I can't find at more mainstream grocery stores. All of their produce and frozen items are good and hard to find anywhere else. Lines are never long and everyone is helpful and nice.“
“Pictured: Satay Chicken, Panang Curry (with chicken), and Crispy Calamari.Service was great, only one person working for dinner doing to go’s and dine ins. Didn’t get her name but she was very friendly!Ambience was very cozy.Panang Curry was amazing!! I was asked for a spiciness level between 1-10 and I chose 6. It was spicier than I thought it would be but still great flavor. Crispy Calamari was good. Also comes with fried veggies. Satay Chicken was also good. Will be coming back!“
“Love love love!! This cafe is beautiful! The staff are super friendly, attentive and sweet! We had their caramel macchiato & pink rose waffles. Both were delicious and the waffles taste just as good as they look! We will definitely be back!!“
“I've been coming here for years. There are so many items on the menu that do NOT disappoint! The stuffed potato skin appetizers, the bread pudding dessert, the red cabbage, the boxtys, the mac n' cheese, ANYTHING with corned beef! I'm always so happy in my belly with Hooley's to eat. My experience with service and atmosphere has generally been a mixed bag. The quiet dining area is pretty boring, so I tend to prefer the bar area (still have regular tables, not strictly bar-seating) for smaller groups.Parking: The restaurant is very much situated within Grossmont Mall, so there is a lot of parking. It's far enough from the general shopping area that even during busy shopping times, I always get a spot close.“
“This is one of my favorite eateries! The menu has something for every budget, every taste bud, and every food restriction! They even have a gluten-free menu. There is a fresh market inside the redtaurant entrance that sells many of the condiments, seafood items, salads, etc. This is an excellent choice for tourists and neighborhood folks alike. They offer inside and outside seating. Note: You can see the restaurant sign from Highway 8; however, the restaurant itself can not be seen from the highway. It is down in a small valley adjacent to a man-made lake. Try it! You'll like it! ✔️??✅️“
“We love this place! It's a family owned business and the man who I believe is also an owner is really friendly. It's always really clean and the food/drinks are always fresh. I recommend the green juice! It's my favorite and good on its own or blended into a smoothie. My bf loves the horchata frapp.“
“Our server was The BEST! She was busy, but didn't rush through anything with us. Wish I remembered he name ... would love to give her a shout out to her supervisor.Dietary restrictions: Wish they had vegan cheese options.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly ... even to my husband who likes ordering from the kids menu.“
“This place is beautiful. It takes my back home (Guadalajara)The food is amazing, authentic, Mexican food. I always get upset when I go to taco shops and call that Mexican food!! This is for real!!!!They have a full top shelf bar, the bar is big and beautiful, the de or is breath taking.Thank you for bringing a little bit of home to San Diego!!Parking: You park on the streetKid-friendliness: They have a kids menu“
“Staff is always friendly and helpful! One of the better starbucks. It's the staff that makes the difference.I have found that there are two types of Starbucks, there are nice Starbucks with cheerful people and there are gloomy Starbucks with uppity people.“
“Not you typical taco. Not fried. You can get the basics bit the excel in thier specialty tacos. Everything is always fresh. Portions are decent. Excellent selection on the menu. Lots of beers to choose from. Very casual atmosphere. If you're in the village, give them a try for some quick tasty tacos.“
“The service here is always great, friendly staff. We've only ever tried the burgers and chili cheese dog. Would definitely recommend the burgers (any style) not as impressed with the chili cheese dog but I'd continue to return for everything else.Vegetarian options: Fried zucchini, onion rings type of optionsKid-friendliness: Kid menu with usual items i.e. burgers, hot dog, chicken strips“
“My latest visit to Curbside Eatery was nothing short of fantastic! As someone who was particularly keen on avoiding long waits, I was delighted with the prompt seating we received outdoors. The staff was incredibly attentive, ensuring we were comfortably settled without any delay. To top it off, despite the chilly evening, we were offered cozy blankets and had an outdoor heater close by, adding a touch of warmth to our dining experience—literally and figuratively! As always, the food was excellent. I had the fried shrimp with fries, which was cooked to perfection; crispy on the outside, yet succulent on the inside. It’s a dish I find myself returning to time and again, and it never disappoints.I highly recommend Curbside Eatery for anyone looking for a delightful meal with the added convenience of great outdoor accommodations. Their consistent service and delectable menu options make it a top choice every time. Five stars well deserved!“
“I like this coffee shop! High quality taste (always a good Turkish coffee ), lots of food options and even for bakery, nice decor, and most importantly great vibes. :) The staff are friendly and remember you & your orders, plus they are easy to communicate with & work fast. Definitely swing by if you’re visiting La Mesa…“
“I've been coming here since the 70's, nothing but great food, and the bakery is awesome as well. The owner's grandkids and regular employees are a pleasure to talk to while you wait. Check it out, for me the ride is from the southern burbs, it's worth it.“
“The big rolled tacos (with potato) come fully loaded and are a great healthy, hearty meal. Staff were awesome, outdoor seating was perfect for an early evening dinner.Kid-friendliness: Kid’s menu has the standard fare- quesadillas and chicken nuggets with fries.“
“We were visiting East County and I googled "Vegan Near Me," and El Veganito came up. Vegan Mexican Food! Amazing. It's just amazing food, in general. I got the California burrito, and it was delicious Mexican food and huge! One burrito was lunch and dinner. Just a note, the restaurant is in a food court and not visible from the road. I highly recommend El Veganito.Vegetarian options: All Vegan!“
