“In town from out of State and had lunch here yesterday. Didn't know Sizzler was still around. I will say, the place was modernized and had a decent menu selection. Great salad bar! Fish and chips were tasty. Steak and potato was decent.
We had a fabulous waitress, Chante. I am giving 4 stars across the board because: It was quietish (2p) the tables could have been cleared/wiped down better. When we sat, Chante immediately came to wipe down the table (something I felt a bisser should have done aftwr clearing the table). The manager, while very nice, also forgot to give me my tip money (not a huge deal, I went back to ask for it. But a tiny ding for that). Had a great time catching up with family and nobody rushed us out. Chante came to bring us hats for ice cream, which was a nice surprise. All in all, a nice place for a quick catch up and tasty bite to eat.
P.S. Maybe a little more attention to restrooms also.“

“We have been HUGE a huge fan of a local crawfish restaurant for as long as they have been open, and have gone frequently over the years. Recently we have been looking to try some of the other crawfish places around. Not only did the Boxing Crab have flavorful sauces to choose from, top quality freshness, the best cooked crawfish we have had in a restaurant, (even better than our regular spot), and their service was wonderful! We now have a new GoTo! We will recommend them again and again!“

“We sat at an outside table so I can't comment on what it would be like sitting inside. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we were there. We had not realized that the restaurant did not have a liquor license so we were initially disappointed about that. The menu had a good variety of crudo to choose from and our server was helpful in answering our questions. Everything we ordered was very good.“

“This is a great stop to make if you are looking for some awesome fish tacos. It is off the beaten path of downtown SD, but worth the trip. Very small seating area and you may have to wait, but worth it! Nice staff and service.“

“Whether you are a local or a San Diego visitor looking for a place that is nearby but free of the Gas Lamp or Little Italy crowds, try the Desmond. In the Kimpton hotel - but promise - it is not your typical hotel restaurant. Excellent and creative chef, interesting menu, reasonably priced, attentive and delightful staff. What more could you want?! We have been here a few times - and every time we come back to the Desmond, we leave saying, we need to visit more often. It's that good.“

“Amidst the vibrant pulse of downtown San Diego, WaterGrill at 615 J St stands as a beacon of culinary excellence and undeniable charm. On a recent evening, my plans shifted from Italian discontent to the familiar embrace of WaterGrill, a venue that never ceases to impress. The transition was seamless and steeped in relief as we were greeted with the warmest of welcomes and guided to a cozy booth tucked away in the back—a perfect setting for what was to unfold. The service, led by the incomparable Nesha, was nothing short of spectacular. Her effortless candor and keen attention to our dining experience crafted an atmosphere that felt both intimate and celebratory. As a seasoned mortgage broker, I've developed a keen eye for detail and an appreciation for seamless execution—qualities that WaterGrill embodies with finesse. The culinary journey was highlighted by the sublime Chilean Sea Bass and a perfectly seared Filet Mignon, each dish speaking volumes of the skill behind the scenes. The surprise dessert, a sweet gesture orchestrated with style by Nesha, was the cherry on top of an already delightful evening. WaterGrill is not just a restaurant; it’s a study in class, atmosphere, and the art of hospitality. For anyone looking to create core memories around fine dining, this establishment comes highly recommended. The dedication to excellence here mirrors the precision we prize in the mortgage industry, making every visit a reaffirmation of why WaterGrill is a staple in our culinary repertoire.“

“Great food, cooks are willing to fulfill your requests, waiter was new apparently, lacked a lot of follow up, had to
Repeatedly ask for or get updates on ordered food, wouldn’t come to pickup plates or trash, had to request three times to have dishes removed, other than that everything else was great!! Had them make “jalapeño poppers for me, ordered them 4 times!!“

“We walked into this restaurant around 6 pm on a Sunday. Didn't seem that busy, but that's hard to tell sometimes. When we walked in, the person running the desk just looked at us without saying anything. She wasn't otherwise occupied--just standing behind the desk waiting for people to come in. I said: "Hello. We're a party of 2." Her reply? "Do you have a reservation?" Her tone of voice was a bit condescending, as if we had some nerve to walk in without a reservation. When I told her we didn't, she said: "Well then you have to wait." I asked what the wait was and was told 10-15 minutes so they could get "caught up." Other guests received similar treatment. One guest noted several empty tables and suggested they increase staffing. She replied: "It's out of our control, sir." I think this person could benefit from coaching and training on being more hospitable. I noticed a few people walking out. For one, people who have reservations usually state that when they check-in. You don't have to grill people who did you the honor of choosing your restaurant. The greeter's first job is to make people feel welcome. They're the first point of contact and they set the tone for the restaurant. After we were seated, our dining experience turned around. The server, Carlos, was very friendly and efficient. He was also very knowledgeable about the menu and wines available. The food was delicious and presented well. It was also served hot. I'm glad we didn't walk out or let the sour greeting spoil our evening. I had to deduct a star for that. I should have deducted more than one, but the food was so good, they get four.“

“I just enjoyed the BEST LOBSTER ROLL on the Planet. Whenever my Daughter and Husband visit LA, they drive all the way to San Diego for Lobster West. Today was my FIRST visit and I TASTED why they drive hours to frequent LW. LEO was absolutely AWESOME with an ASTERISK and nailed everything from professional customer service, genuine demeanor and made my visit A PLUS from Food to conversation, interaction and atmosphere. Leo made every customer who entered feel like they were the only one and has his undivided attention to ensure they left LOOKING forward to returning. I don't often give 5 stars but LW and Leo was 5-Star Plus. Pastor WDB-St. Louis, Mo“

The Cinnamon Roll Pancakes at breakfast were the best pancakes I’ve ever had! Our server, Reyna, was very attentive, personable and added to the enjoyment of our dining experience. Sitting on the balcony overlooking the bay added even more enjoyment!“

“Everyone in our house used to like poke. After we found Poke Chop, we LOVE poke! They have so many options of fish and sauces and toppings. I’ve never found as big of a selection. My daughter would eat here every day if I’d let her. There aren’t many places in Hillcrest where a family of 3 can get dinner for around $30, and be totally stuffed, and not feel blah afterwards. The fish is always really fresh. The only thing that could make it better is if they added mango, mmmmm. We try to eat there as much as possible because it will be a very sad day if they close. (It’s a reality in the Hillcrest restaurant business ☹️).“

“Their Monday happy hour offers great value, with a menu featuring plenty of options that we thoroughly enjoyed. The calamari strips were a bit too oily for my preference, but still acceptable. The potato skins were delicious, and the onion rings were very tasty. The potato nachos were a delightful surprise. Overall, I would definitely recommend their happy hour; it was a pleasant experience.“

“We have enjoyed Anthony's Fish Grotto at all three of its previous locations. Anthony's Seaside was the only place we could get a shark steak -- that we knew of. This is the only remaining store. Sometimes, they have shark, but not always. Today, I had a Crab Louie. I loved it. My wife had a grilled ahi tuna steak with pineapple salsa. She loved it.“

“First of all, it is extremely difficult to make a reservation. ???
It took us TWO YEARS to finally dinning at this exquisite restaurant.??
I deeply appreciate this waitress to allow me to record this video. ❤️❤️❤️
The service is absolutely excellent! And it is not bad at all to enjoy your omakase on the patio. They have an under table heater so you won't feel cold.???
Parking is only street parking.
This humble looking Japanese restaurant is actually a Michelin One Star.
The only way to make a reservation is via their reservation partner. They will send you an email notification like two hours ahead of your reservation.
However, you have to really "fast hand" to confirm your reservation. If you are like a sloth, you will never be able to complete your reservation.???
And, they will charge a despite of $50/ person when the reservation is confirmed.“

“Makai Sushi offers a cozy, casual dining experience where the focus is clearly on the freshness of the ingredients. I tried their hapa roll, featuring Aji tuna and crab, and was impressed by how fresh everything tasted. The venue itself is small, with just four tables inside, but the patio provides a more spacious alternative. It’s a counter-service spot, so you order up front and they bring the food to your table—perfect for a relaxed meal. When I visited, the place wasn’t busy, allowing for quick service. A word of advice: the rolls are generous, and the large pieces make it a challenge to eat in one bite. I’m eager to return and explore their sushi burritos next time!“

“ABSOLUTELY LOVED!!!!! i went with my family looking for some good mexican seafood we came upon this food truck and WOW it was beyond our expectations, everything is very flavorful and FRESHLY MADE TOSTADAS. everything is made to order, by far the BEST mexican seafood ive ever had.“
“The location and set up of the restaurant is great. It is beautiful and set against the moored boats so you can't beat the ambience. The food was good but would not say it is the best in the area and the service was adequate. We were there on a Friday evening so it was crowded meaning that after we were seated, it took about 20 minutes to take our appetizer order. It is fairly expensive but an overall enjoyable experience.“

“Went for a quick dinner with some friends that live in Bonita and was pleasantly surprised. We had tacos and oysters that were delicious.
We also had margaritas too. The drink was a little small but I like my cocktails in pint glasses so it’s hard to measure up. The flavor was good so I didn’t care.
The oysters tasted fresh off the boat too!
Vegetarian options: Easy to identify
Parking: Easy access off Bonita Road“
