“Finding a restaurant that pleases everyone in the family can be a challenge, but this place knocked it out of the park for my wife, daughter, and me. From the warm, attentive service to the generous, perfectly sized portions, everything was dialed in from start to finish.
The food and drinks completely stole the show:
* Fish Tacos: Absolutely spot-on. Instead of heavy batter overpowering the taco, they let the fish take center stage—light, fresh, and perfectly seasoned.
* Caldo de 7 Mares: Rich, comforting, and packed with tender seafood in an authentic, deeply flavorful broth.
* Rice & Beans: Far from an afterthought—flavorful, fresh, and the perfect complement to the mains.
* Aguas Frescas: Incredibly refreshing. We tried the Mango, Cucumber, and Jamaica, and each one hit that rare sweet spot—not overly sugary and not too tart.
Our palates left very happy, and we are already looking forward to our next visit. A standout spot for fresh, honest seafood and fantastic drinks done right. Highly recommended!“

On top of the amazing food, the service is outstanding—the staff is attentive, friendly, and makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.

“A surprisingly pleasant experience. This was a Sunday night around 8:45 pm. First time here and ordered the basic SD local order of carne asada fries. I ordered in, instead of to-go and it was a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Service was prompt and friendly. Ranchera music playing in the background and a few other patrons enjoying their meals. They clearly take the proper time and care to cook their meat because my asada came out incredibly juicy! My fries were perfectly cooked, not a single one undercooked. Their salsas are fantastic, with a good amount of heat with each flavor. Prices are about the average for San Diego, and well worth the price! I intend to come back and try out more of the menu.“

Adobada, fish, and shrimp tacos are amazing! They have a Taco Tuesday deal where it's 2 for $4-5 for adobada tacos, and the fish / shrimp tacos were $1.75-$2.25

The quality + size of these tacos in this economy help me keep going at my job. I try to come as often as I can. I look forward to this every week. Highly recommended! Amazing salsa, pickled onions, single cup of soup, and beans are complimentary.

The taco chef and owner are incredibly kind and hospitable even though my husband and I don't speak Spanish. They're always patient and considerate with us as well.

“This is a great stop to make if you are looking for some awesome fish tacos. It is off the beaten path of downtown SD, but worth the trip. Very small seating area and you may have to wait, but worth it! Nice staff and service.“

“Came in solo around 6:30pm and was able to grab a seat at the bar. They have a rotational menu based on locally sourced ingredient availability. Ordered the daily oysters (which were fantastic) and the grilled sea bass.

The service here is probably some of the most friendly/best I’ve experienced before. My sea bass was undercooked & the bartender went to check with the chef. She confirmed that was the case and asked to make sure I’d like them to remake it. While waiting, the hostess also came over to apologize and checked in to see if I needed anything else. The new fish came back much better, however I felt like the sauce was a little too salty and acidic to my taste (both times). Based on my experience I feel like they are the type of business to make things right if you are not satisfied

Looking at other reviews I think this would be a great place for drinks & apps.

“I would recomend to come here for a view, ambience, and meet up. For food, it’s okay but not special considering their price point. Fresh catch halibut might not fresh at all cos it’s a bit fishy and it’s over cooked and it’s pricey for its quality. Lobster was better tho, juicy and fresh. The rest were so so. Calamary was plain and not crunchy on the outside and not hot when served. Clam chowder, well … just ok and too much potato in it. Battered fish and shrimp were slightly better if you eat it with avocado ranch. I loved the place, the pond was beautiful, and friendly staffs.“

“One of the best restaurants I’ve been to! We loved everything we tried on the menu, and were sad to hear it’s being discontinued for a new spring menu—especially the filet mignon, which was incredibly tasty.
They put a lot of care into their dishes, which really matters to me. Everything feels thoughtfully prepared— like home-cooked food, but elevated to another level. Portions are on the smaller side, but the quality makes up for it.

“Stopped by Ferchaladas Birria & Mariscos and really enjoyed it. We tried the birria tacos and the octopus. The birria tacos were really good, but the octopus was definitely my favorite. It was cooked perfectly and full of flavor.

The place has a great local vibe, and the food was fresh and came out quickly. Just a heads up, they only accept cash or Venmo, so come prepared. Parking can be a little difficult depending on the time of day, but it's definitely worth it once you try the food.

“We have been HUGE a huge fan of a local crawfish restaurant for as long as they have been open, and have gone frequently over the years. Recently we have been looking to try some of the other crawfish places around. Not only did the Boxing Crab have flavorful sauces to choose from, top quality freshness, the best cooked crawfish we have had in a restaurant, (even better than our regular spot), and their service was wonderful! We now have a new GoTo! We will recommend them again and again!“

“This place is the best! We’re from Colorado and we found this place three years ago when we were visiting. We’ve dreamt about their fish and shrimp tacos ever since, so we make it a point to stop by whenever we’re in San Diego. This last trip was no different. We even went twice this year because they recommended their garlic and butter fish and shrimp tacos and they’re to die for (along with everything else we’ve had). While they do have outdoor seating available, we ate in our car because we had our pup with us. When we went back, they even said they remembered us. “My family and I recently visited Joe's Crab Shack and had such an amazing experience! The Chef’s Choice Crab Boil is our absolute favorite, especially with the mild hot sauce. It has this perfect tangy flavor without being overly salty or spicy like some other crab boils, and the portion size is generous and super satisfying.
Their iced teas are also incredible, my personal favorite is the guava. So refreshing! Everything we tried just hit the spot.
I love this place because it really works for any mood or season (warm, comforting dishes for colder days, and lighter, filling options when it’s hot out). And if you’re into drinks, their tropical cocktails are absolutely refreshing.
The wait staff was on point, friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. It also looks like such a fun place to host a party.
