I LOVE acai bowls and was pleasantly surprised by Northside Shack's variety of toppings. The bowls are expensive, as many are these days, but the large ($17) was great to share between two people. You can have as many bases (acai, pitaya, or coconut) as you'd like with unlimited toppings. There are some additional toppings available for a cost, and adding peanut butter for $2 was very worthwhile. Peanut butter complements the fruit so well and there was plenty in the bowl. There was a bit of a wait as the bases may be blended fresh and it was busy on a weekend around noon. There aren't any tables but a few benches and chairs outside the shop. The North Park Mini Park is a couple blocks away if you're looking for a picnic table. They gave us a plate with our to-go packaged bowl which really helped catch the many toppings piled on top of the large bowl.

Walked in the doors as they were wide open and no indication that they may have been closed, didn't see the large doberman chained to something as it was behind something and laying down and it lunged at me barking and showing its teeth. I'm a dog person, 4 dogs at home and completely OK if it was calm and not in close proximity where it caught me completely off guard and nearly bit me. CLOSE THE DOORS IF YOU ARE CLOSED and ESPECIALLY if you have an aggressive dog at the very front of the shop where it could've bit anyone. Scary experience, hope no one goes through the same thing. Edit- You were closed yet had no sign or indication of it and a door wide open. Crazy to expect me to know you are closed under those circumstances. I don't have a problem with the dog, I have a problem with the irresponsibility of the owner. If you were concerned about safety in the area, close the doors with the dog being a second line of defense if something WERE to happen. "I have a big dog who will protect me against anyone no matter good or bad at the front, better be safe then sorry". Take boxes outside, close door, come back, close door, repeat? Not hard.

Best acai bowls in San Diego, i would even go as far as saying - best ever. Its a bit pricey but it worth it. I always opt for the 50/50 acai and piittaya with peanut butter and everything. Highly recommend calling ahead to

There is a tiny parking lot but I ended up finding street parking a short walk away. Parking is rough in north park. Ordering a bowl is pretty simple you choose a size, a base, toppings, and add ons. It is a bit pricey but they really are some of the best açaí bowls around. They pile on the toppings so it's like a fruit salad on top of your açaí bowl.

Very happy that my wife and I paid a visit to Northside Shack. Not your basic Jamba juice kind of place. The owner knows her stuff and has so many great fresh ideas for smoothies! The staff was very nice to us and our dogs so I will definitely be coming back. If you're thinking about stopping by, do yourself a favor and get the PB&J or the Vitamin C smoothie 10/10.

Hands down the best acai bowl I’ve had in San Diego. The coconut sorbet is absolutely divine and the best addition to an acai base! Northside Shack loads your bowl up with fruit and other fun toppings! We did not order ahead but our order took only 5-10 minutes to make even though they were quite busy. There’s not really any great place to sit and eat so I would definitely recommend taking your food to go!

Love the attentiveness of the staff, fresh and beautifully served. The one thing i'll mention - there's nowhere to really sit and eat this properly...

Much cheaper options available. I stopped going because I got smoothie that tasted way off. I chucked it but the taste lingered on my tongue for hours. Not worth going back, and there are plenty of better options to choose from moving forward.

-The bowls are overpriced and not justified.-The size differences are dramatic.-Giving me a plate because it's impossible to eat without dropping food could simply be solved by not over feeling the cup.-Bad business practices. Save money on the lid, plate, and plastic wrap by not over feeling it. Business saves money and charges less, less of an inconvenience for customers to eat. It's a win-win for everyone.Parking: Limited time parking paid parking
