Very suspicious activity at Onyx Room. The bartender was the only person who handled my credit cards, and shortly after, both of my cards had fraudulent charges. My friend had a fraudulent charge as well. After looking into it, I realized I’m not the only person this has happened to at this place. The bartender who took my card was a skinny white male with glasses, I strongly believe he may have something to do with the fraudulent activity because my card doesn’t even have visible numbers on it, meaning the card would normally need to be physically swiped or tapped to be used.
If this has happened to you too, I strongly encourage you to file a police report because this fraudulent activity needs to stop. Be very careful when opening a tab or handing over your card here, and make sure to monitor your bank account after visiting.

There’s TOO much space in the sections and they take up TOO much of the club. If people in those sections want personal space so bad, they should’ve stayed home instead of standing in a bubble looking at other people have fun. I’ve spent $6-10k in nyc on a section, but I wouldn’t here, there’s too much division and the bottles take too long to come out, they don’t even put a Red Bull and some juice down on the table just ICE and Fiji water. I met some nice people but also met a few egotistical “I’m a marine with a challenger” type men who want their ego continuously stroked or who are outright disrespectful. Like are you the princess or me? The Reggaeton floor needs more up to date music, but the crowd seems to like it and have adapted, out of towners will get bored quick. The main floor, music is ok…The owner is nice. Also please invest in wristbands or stamps, people step outside for many important reasons. If they need to go back in to get someone or something they left behind, it shouldn’t be difficult.

Just had my birthday celebration here at Onyx and ordered a VIP table. Amazing staff, dope music, everything was memorable! Giancarlo was very helpful and answered all of my questions when setting up a VIP table. Brielle was sooo sweet and very attentive! She made sure things was in place and was patient with me and my friends. Absolutely appreciate her service and the hard work she puts in 🩵 Thank you for a great night! Will definitely consider coming back for another night at Onyx 🍾🍾

if i could give a 0 star review i would. went with a friend who lives locally and the bouncer took my oregon license and told me it was fake, even though i needed my id to travel home. i was greeted with getting cursed at and he tried to bend and break MY REAL ID. HORRIBLE SERVICE AND STAFF. i do not tend to leave bad reviews because i know it affects businesses but if you are traveling in san diego STAY AWAY. they will try to break your ID if it is not from california. again, was cursed at and threatened by the bouncer over him not knowing what the updated “real” id’s look like in order to travel within the US.

Stopped by while I was in town for a different event, according to TikTok, Onyx is the place to be…however I’d rate my experience as average. To get in, there was no line when we arrived (just around 10pm- opening) and the security must have been on a power trip, they made my group and I walk through the sidewalk and form “a line” amongst ourselves before they would even talk to us… lol. Very odd, but I didn’t let that get to me and continued on, I can say the host or the gentleman that was toward the door where you can pay was SUPER nice and accommodating! He noticed my birthday had passed a few days prior and provided me with a sash and a free shot ticket- that was a nice touch!
Once we got inside, the music was Top 40 in both the upstairs and downstairs (there is a third floor but it is not open on Friday’s). Overall, it wasn’t busy so I didn’t wait for the bathroom but I could imagine that line gets crazy when it IS busy- for women there was only 3 stalls I believe in the downstairs (where my group was for most of the night). Overall, as I stated an average experience, would I go back? Not sure, perhaps not; as nothing was super alluring. (My points of comparison are other bars/clubs that we ventured to after checking out Onyx.)

Very disappointing and felt ripped off. Paid more than a thousand dollars upfront for bottle service plus 20% mandatory tip for literally the worst service I've ever had in a club.
Our server was absent the entire night and I had to actively search for the staff to ask them about our order (multiple times).
They finally delivered our second bottle after an hour and half of waiting; And then never saw our server again for the rest of the night.
The bottom floor was pretty much empty until midnight when they finally changed the DJ and the music got better.
Maybe this was just a bad night, but I don't feel like going back. Bottle service was definitely not worth it and service was horrible.

A ruined evening. It turned out that filming was prohibited inside. But there was no sign of this anywhere. I found out when a security guard snatched my phone in the most aggressive manner possible. He almost knocked me down. He was twice my size. When I tried to ask what happened, another one came up and just started yelling. If you want to spend money and get beaten, scared, and humiliated, this is the place for you.
