Open Bar is a dive bar with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly bartenders. Although it lacks some amenities, the bartenders make up for it with their quick service. There's usually a food truck on site, but no in-house food. The outdoor patio provides a refreshing spot to enjoy cheap drinks. It's a popular spot, especially on weekends during college sessions, with a lively vibe that changes depending on the music.

The owners have been the same awesome guys for over 18 years. Their vision of a great hangout place with cheap drinks and pool tables and darts and great music all 1/2 a block from the beach is a local icon for the Mission / Pacific Beach community. Sports fans from anywhere on the globe can go have drinks and catch up on even the most obscure event on one of their 24 big screen different channel monitors. The staff, including the best bartender Tim and the best security guard Isaiah, strive to create a chill vibe where locals and tourists can mingle and have fun. Visitors can enjoy the best peanuts and great beer prices, although the cashews may sometimes be a hit or miss.
