Popular spot in Little Italy with other locations. Has a number of vegan options, visited multiple times and had the waffles as well as the avocado toast. Toast was on the small side for the price. Also offers a number of vegan baked good such as cookies and muffins which were excellent! Updated from previous review on 2025-05-10
I had the best thing I've eaten in Little Italy yet: their Chicken Caesar Wrap. Amazing.

I had initially set my sights on Morning Glory Restaurant, drawn by its favorable Google reviews. However, upon arriving, I was met with an hour-long wait—far too steep a price for my patience, despite the praise.
Fortunately, fate led me across the street to Parakeet Cafe. What a delightful surprise it turned out to be! The food was not only healthy but bursting with flavor, crafted from impeccably fresh ingredients. We savored the avocado toast and the yogurt bowl, both of which exceeded all expectations. What began as a spontaneous detour transformed into a genuinely rewarding culinary experience.

Baked goods were unexpectedly dense (blueberry lemon scone and a muffin), perhaps because they were gluten free? Americano flavour was balanced (not overly roasted and some fruit notes). Coconut yogurt bowl was yummy though could do better with less raisins and less fruit preserve. Completely overpriced steamed oat milk for my kid - $7 for 8 oz! The charge: $4 for the milk (high for 8 oz), $1 to make it oat and $1 to add vanilla (not uncommon, I admit) but then $1 to steam the milk!

After waiting 30 mins for my $23 burger when it was an empty restaurant, I asked if I was going to get my food and it was brought immediately but it was cold, had probably been sitting there. I did. I did get a refund and they still offered to replace it. the flavor was good.
In a city full of excellent coffee shops this is not one worth visiting. Service to just get a to go coffee was extremely slow, and more importantly the espresso quality is way below average.

Good place for some tea. Music is good too. The wall art makes good discussions as well.

Sick of this place screwing up my order - the price point on most items is already ridiculous, but then they can’t even send me the correct $9 croissant?? No more parakeet for me, spent enough $$.
I’ve dined in and have taken out food here for both lunch and dinner several times.
Food is always fairly average with the exception being their burger which is as they advertise! Chicken soup is also notable but pricey for what is given.
They have lots of indoor and outdoor seating, service is fairly quick and it’s a pretty easy process to pop in and order food to go.
All in all, if you’re looking for something a little healthier in the area and different then absolutely worth checking out Parakeet.

I recently visited this cafe and had a wonderful experience! The food was pretty good, but the Veg Burrito was definitely a standout - it's a must-try for anyone looking for a delicious vegetarian option.
The drinks menu was also impressive, with a great selection of fresh juices that were expertly prepared. I was particularly impressed by the quality of the ingredients used.
One thing that really stood out to me was the lack of wait time - we were seated and served promptly, which was a nice surprise.
If I have one suggestion for improvement, it would be to speed up the service just a bit. While our server was friendly and attentive, there were a few moments where we had to wait for our orders to be taken or for our food to arrive.
Overall, however, I would highly recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a tasty meal in a welcoming atmosphere.

I recently heard of Parakeet Café from two podcasters that I listen to and happened to be in town so decided to try it on a Sunday morning. We arrived at 0830 before it was too busy. You order at the register and then find a seat. That was, initially, not understood because we grabbed a table and didn’t know that no one would take our order. I ordered a turmeric latte (that was a little too sweet for me) and the French Omelette Sandwich. That was tasty. It’s a nice spot that wasn’t too crowded for a Sunday morning.
