Quite frankly this was a below average experience. The service was fine but the food was really unacceptable. I ordered the Cioppini which had more tomato than seafood, and was tasteless. My husband had the breaded chicken which was very dry. Both platters had no appeal when brought to the table. One had the impression the plates were just slapped together without much thought for presentation. We would not go back here.

The food is so delicious! Fresh vegetables, creative dishes, beautiful presentation. This visit I had the “Salmone alla Puttanesca” . The fish was juicy and flaky. The sauce tingled my taste buds. Yes you can taste the passion!

As always we love our favorite restaurant in La Jolla!! Piazza 1909 always provides us with amazingly delicious food but most of all the incredible staff who always go the extra mike to make us feel special!! Thanks to Ren, our fabulous server and everyone else who helps to make this restaurant our favorite!!

Really nice place. Great ambiance. Wait staff was great. But food was just fine for the price. And I'm generally more about tastiness than anything else.

So excited to find a place with gluten free pizza, pasta, bread, calamari and fried artichokes!! Food was great, really enjoyed the gluten free sausage and pesto pizza. I do wish we had sat on the main patio though, and not the side patio, for a little bit more ambiance.

Charming neighborhood Italian restaurant that takes great pride in its food and atmosphere. Service was a bit slow and disjointed as it was quite busy and perhaps they were short-staffed. But all in all a very pleasant evening.

Could have been outstanding if the spaghetti hadn't left a chalky taste and feel. Simply too Al dente.

Service was great. Food was fine, average. Cute place but was surprised to see the ratings so high.

Great experience! We had dinner with our adult kids and our 10 month old granddaughter a few days ago on the front patio of the restaurant. It was such a nice experience! Our waiter was attentive and helpful. The food came at a very nice pace. We were all happy with our food. I had the special which was a sea bass with mashed potatoes and broccolini. Would definitely come back!

Black ink spaghetti with seafood was excellent. It was one of the best red sauces I've had.

I am always longing for those special dinners. They always have a great theme and the cuisine and wine pairing are top notch! Thanks to chef Stefano (chef), Roberta (manager), Petra (wine expert) and the whole team for making those happen. It's a little louder than usual, with communal table seating, but also way more festive! Grazie a tutti!

Always a great choice for ambiance and a more authentic type of Italian cuisine than other Italian restaurants. Food was great, however the menu prices have jumped quite a bit over the last year and a half. That combined with the added "convenience charges" restaurants started adding after covid, it makes the bill pretty significant. Dinner for four people..no alcoholic beverages, with one appetizer, one couple splitting a salad and splitting a main, one person ordering a pizza from the happy hour menu, one person ordering a main from the regular menu ...came to $225! Can only imagine how much with alcohol and four regular entrees. Good service as always

Our favorite Italian restaurant in San Diego. Always a very good meal. Never a dish that disappoints. Servers are busy, but attentive enough. The outside seating (with roof) is very nice and makes for a great ambiance.

We met one of your servers, Giuseppe, in Coronado and when he heard we were staying in La Jolla he recommended we try Piazza 1909. We were seated at his station on the side patio, which was very nice and quiet. Giuseppe greater us warmly and guided us with food choices. Everything was delicious. I love the fact that there are 3 patios to choose from.
