I used to come here frequently with family or friends. Sadly the service has gone down. Case in point: we were a group of five and celebrating my birthday. When the food arrived, they had forgotten my order, and it took 15 minutes to rectify this mistake. At the time I brushed it off as a one-off. When it happened again several months later with another member of my family, I realized that it was no longer my happy place. I now frequent one of their “sister” restaurants (Sukho Thai Extraordinaire) on Adams Avenue or Plumeria in Encinitas instead.

Plumeria’s menu is chock full of vegan and vegetarian options (I loved the crispy “duck.”) Four of us had no sooner ordered our dinners, when our food arrived. Every one loved their dishes so much, we ordered it again for takeout the following night. The vibe of the restaurant was great and the staff were very friendly. We can’t say enough good things about Plumeria!

The Crispy Tofu Tamarind was perfectly crispy and juicy, the sauce was just the right mix of sweet and sour. The Thai samosas were also delicious.

Lighter Thai vegetarian restaurant with many mock meat options.

The duck noodle soup was excellent. The mock duck was crispy with a pleasant texture. The herb soup base was tasty (great for a cooler evening) and complemented by fresh vegetables, soft noodles, and a lime sauce.

The brown rice and steamed tofu were great options with Plumeria’s Mixed Fiber Plate. This was a moderate and healthy option - not too light or heavy.

The fried rice noodles were wide and soft. The sauce was flavorful and not overwhelming.

The yellow curry had a thinner sauce (almost a buttery component on first taste) with crisp carrots and potatoes. In comparison, the pumpkin curry had a robust flavor and body, which was a popular dish (recommended!).

Overall, the steamed tofu and mock duck were good options for our group. The mock beef was not as popular due to the texture.

A spice level of 2-3 out of 10 was true to the scale and worked for the kids in the group.

Have been going here for years and in all that time have not found better Thai food in any city. The larb with crispy duck is my favorite. Staff is very nice and accommodating and always so welcoming. Love bringing family here when they’re in town as they easily sit parties of 8 without issue.

Overall pleasant experience here and would recommend trying if you’re craving vegetarian options. The pad Thai was good but the noodles were a little overcooked texture. The Khao soi broth was very good as well. Service was fast and parking in the area can be tough. Also restroom was out of service that day.

We did take out. Ordered papaya salad, cheese wonton, spicy noodle, beef fried rice and chicken satay. The papaya salad was warm and it’s supposed to be cold or room temperature. Doesn’t taste like papaya salad. I’ve eaten papaya salad before and made papaya salad before and this one doesn’t taste like it at all. The spicy noodle is not spicy at all. They should change the name. The beef fried rice taste like any other fried rice. Nothing special. The chicken satay is small portion. Out of all that we ordered, I gotta say the best one is the cheese wonton.

“Meat “ dishes have the right texture and taste delicious. Curries and spices are wonderful. Veggies are fresh. Best vegan in San Diego.

I have dined at Plumeria many times and never had an issue with the service. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was disappointing. From the moment we were seated, the server/host seemed to have an attitude… he was very short and cold with his communication. It wasn’t just a momentary vibe either because the energy stayed that way throughout the the visit, which honestly put a damper on the ambiance of the restaurant.

After we placed our order, an item came out that was not part of our order. When I politely brought it up, the server snapped back, insisting I had ordered what he brought out. I let him know that it was the wrong order and again he stated that’s what I ordered with a big attitude. Frankly, I think I’d know what I ordered! Especially because that item was for my Dad, who is vegan and follows a strict diet and this is what he gets all the time at a restaurant with this cuisine. I can and have understood when a mistake happens at restaurants, but the action of how the plate was taken off the table along with the dismissiveness and attitude felt really unnecessary and unprofessional. I won’t be going back there thanks to him. There are so many restaurants to enjoy in San Diego, I’d rather give my business to who actually cares and treats their customers with courtesy.
