They used to be a delicious place Today I received a vegan quesadilla virtually uncooked thrown in a microwave with very little cheese. My husband ordered a couple of beef tacos and the meat was old and once again was microwaved. It really makes us sad because it used to be one of our favorites. Menu vastly changed, must be new owners?

I have been a customer for over 10 years. They recently changed their menu. Their service has gone downhill. It's such a shame, I used to eat here at least once a month. I've been here 3 times since the changes were made and I can't get used it to. I don't think I'll be back for a long time.

My family has been eating at Ranchos for over 30 years. We used to drive down to OB 3 x a week to eat there. It was the perfect place for authentic Mexican food with a ton of vegetarian options. When they opened another location in North Park years ago we were thrilled. They recently made some changes after all these years. They freshened up the decor, updated their POS system and changed up the menu. It was still the the same delicious food but with a fresh new vibe. My only complaint is the portions are a bit smaller but the worst part is they reduced the rice & bean sides so much you barely get a few bites of each. Rice & beans are like chips and salsa they are staple when eating Mexican food. You need enough to have with each bite of food. Plus rice & beans are CHEAP. There is no excuse for skimping on these inexpensive but necessary part of a Mexican dish!

I picked this place when I wanted some Mexican food. When I entered the restaurant, I had a warm welcome from their staff, who also helped me find a table. I ordered a Tofu & Black Bean Torta and a vegan Black Bean Tacos. Once the staff took the order, I received some chips and salsa. Oh my, I loved the appetizing snack! The salsa was fresh and had a good spice level to it. Just as I emptied the chips, the order reached my table. The tacos were delicious! The vegan cheese added a nice flavor to the black beans and the veggies. The Torta with tofu, black beans, and veggies was another treat! The only issue was I could hardly finish it because the Torta was huge! The service from the staff was excellent! She was quick and took a moment to assure me the order was how I wanted it. They have an extensive menu with tons of vegetarian and vegan options. You can customize them as well! The ambiance was another thing I liked about the restaurant. It had decor that made me feel like I was in Mexico. Overall, I had a pleasant dining experience at Ranchos Cocina. I'd love to dine here again during my next visit to San Diego.

Some inspired, creative dishes, and so delicious! This was the best dining experience during our week in San Diego. We had a shiitake & poblano quesadilla, tempeh battered like a fish in a taco, and more. Their 2 wonderful hot sauces are clearly homemade, distinctive, and delicious. Oh, and the chips have a wonderful corn flavor like a Frito but fresh and clean. And the enchilada tortillas have a different distinctive corn flavor! 6 out of 5 stars for flavor!

Very disappointed with this place. The food was bland and the beer warm. There was a plant right in my back and the tiniest table I have ever sat at . There are tons of crosses all over the walls. It is just very odd.

I've been coming to this restaurant for over a decade with my family, and it's sadly just going down hill. I want to preface this by saying I've NEVER brought any issues to this restaurant. Even when they have messed my past orders up, I have just let it go and never once complained. Today, after not eating for almost 6 hours, I placed a takeout order with Ranchos. They apparently have a new menu, and when I tried calling to confirm, the hostess just directed me to their online system again, so I was forced to use it and got absolutely WORKED. I thought I was ordering a carne asada plate with rice + beans + guac. The order was NOT what I wanted or what I'm used to from past orders, and when I called up to let them know what happened, they chose to argue with me for 8 minutes rather than just remake my order and make things right for a long time customer. I also tipped them almost $6 for a takeout order, which made this even more infuriating. I am extremely disappointed with how they chose to handle this situation, and now have to take a $32 loss and cook myself dinner at 10pm. I definitely won't be returning.

I was so pleasantly surprised by the delicious food here and even more surprised that they weren't busier. The inside of the restaurant was super cute and the Trio Enchiladas were just what I needed on a chilly San Diego day. The service was quick and efficient! I'll definitely be back!

What a great find! I'm here in business and have no familiarity with San Diego. I wanted to take my nephew (hungry student) to someplace for Mexican but I am new to being vegan. This was amazing! You can eat vegan or omnivore and you are essentially getting the same menu.I had the mole vegan chicken. It's a smaller plate but totally filling.

Awesome! Charming place to sit down and eat some high quality food and drinks. Good margaritas and vegan horchata, everyone in our party enjoyed their food. The tres beef enchiladas are probably the best I’ve ever had!

And oldie and a goodie. Been going to ranchos for a super long time and it had been a few years but recently went. My gf and I got the queso n chips and salsa. Love that the salsa has a kick. I ordered 2 carne asada Tj tacos they were perfect. Not heavy. Light and fresh with perfect garnish in top. I love the spicy salsas to add. The pink one is spicy but so good. My gf a vegetarian had rolled potato tacos and was super stoked on them. They also have really good coffee with spices. Will be back for suuuuuree. Already telling my friends to run not walk.
