RoVino Restaurant + Bar

We had the privilege of experiencing Rovino on an early Sunday evening between the lunch and dinner rush. We brought friends with us since we are ALWAYS confident that Chef Frank and Rose with not disappoint! It was delightful to have some time during the quiet "pause" around 5pm and then gradually watch the restaurant go into full bloom with people smiling about their food--including us! We love love love the stone fruit panzanella and the new roasted potato fresh vegetable salads. SO fresh and vibrant to highlight beautiful summer vegetables and fruits! And then it came. A surprise new creation by the genius himself Chef Frank. A homemade gnocchi dish that is literally beyond words. It left us all speechless because it was so incredibly good that we all just sat there with our jaws on the table! Fluffy pillowy gnocchi lightly seared in the pan surrounded by summer zucchini, corn, tomatoes, asparagus and onions sitting in a DECADENT osso buco reduction sauce that was one of the most delicious dishes we have ever had! How does he do it?!?! Each time we go (which is a lot) we end up having a new favorite dish! To top it off, he then graced us with a perfectly cooked scallop over romesco sauce that was the perfect finishing touch. Chef Frank is so talented and creative, but he comes out of the kitchen and will answer the phone or seat people if the host is busy, and he will check on customers personally. That is like a wonderful Italian home where food is the love language--and Chef Frank's food is most definitely his love language cooked completely with the customer's happiness as the goal. We absolutely love the entire EXPERIENCE at Rovino, and leave each time completely satisfied in every way, and thinking about how soon we will be coming back!

This was truly an amazing meal. The check was lovely and our food was OVER THE TOP good. My husband is an Italian food snob from Chicago. He said that was likely one of the best if not the best Italian food he's ever had! Thank you, we WILL be back when we are in San Diego next.

Outstanding dinner and drinks with food selections curated by Chef himself. Hand selected stone fruit panzanella salad with home grown tomatoes and fresh herbs, homemade off-menu gnocchi, the creamiest shrimp scampi, and rich bolognese. Just an amazing dinner and great experience. Could have hung out for hours longer.

Food was excellent. They prepared our food separately because of my wife's allergies. We will be back on our next trip.

Best gluten free pasta and gluten free flatbread ever. Was very happy!!! And the berry goat cheese salad was delicious.

Omggggg this spot was incredible! The flavors of everything was amazing. My husband and I shared the 1/2 chicken & veggies + sausage pasta. The veggies were to die for. Even our baby couldn’t get enough of the carrot. Great portion to share! The service was outstanding. 10/10 from the moment we sat down. The staff was so friendly, so attentive, had the biggest smiles. The ambiance was so great for everyone, you could see everyone so happy because of the staff. Our server Marco or Marcus (I am pretty sure that was his name) absolutely exceeded our visit. Literally couldn’t have had a better meal. So much flavor!!! It’s rare to rave about the vegetables but they were to die for. Such great flavor with the chicken & pasta! Will def be back!!!

Was walking through Little Italy with my family when we ran into the owner/chef, Frank. He asked us what we were looking for, and we told him we wanted good Seafood. He politely invited us to check out Rovino, his restaurant. The food was incredible! Frank treated us like his own family and even brought out an extra complimentary prosciutto dish, which was delicious.

Frank was extra kind to ask about allergies/dietary restrictions, and made sure to make certain dishes without tree nuts just for us. Overall, phenomenal food and even better service at a fair price. Would recommend to anyone looking for great Italian food in Little Italy.

Angie is the best!

Took my wife to this restaurant and drove from L.A. to eat there , food is GREAT , The service was is very good. The chef/Owner frank is very friendly and comes out to greet us. We will definitely be visiting this Restaurant again . Worth the money and the drive to Eat a Delicious Meal. I Highly Recommend this place if you take a drive to San Diego, you won't be disappointed.
