I grew up with the Chicken Pie Shop, since they moved from the previous location, and the food and service has been great every single time! The prices have adjusted with the times but you still get a great deal for all that comes with the pie dinner! Always a winner!! Perfect comfort food. If you know, you know.

We go to the chicken pie shop at least once a month or more.on our first visit 6 months ago one of the waitresses was kind enough to tell us that most seniors split the dinner as it is enough food for 2. She was so right so we continued to do that. Today when we did that the portions were so small the really wasn't enough to split As the portions were extremely small and for the first time it came out a very small plate and I had to try to split it between the 2 of us.. There really wasn't enough so I gave him everything except a coleslaw. In the past 5 is the waitress was nice enough to give us 2 rolls today we got one so I let my father have it.. I came home an hour later and had to eat because I was still so hungry as this is the first time that the portions were small.. I will never do that again as I don't know whether this was normal now that you're cutting portion size.. We will no longer be getting the dinner special we will just be getting the la carte as now I see it's not enough to split. We didn't go last month because I was in too much pain after surgery so I don't know whether this is your new policy but when you say you're going to split they pay should let you know now that the portions are smaller and there's not enough to do so.. It was just nice to have an extra roll even if we would have had to pay for it I would have been okay with it but I was so shocked when the Plate came and everything was on a small plate.. I didn't want my father to feel bad so I just said I was full but I was still starving..

Always great after decades eating here.
San Diego institution for 75 years.
Old time country style diner. Always good. The chicken pot pie has been the same for the last 50 years... YUMMY!
Dont forget they have fresh pies too.

Chicken pot pies are wonderful. I had t je meatloaf c special on a Friday and both my husband and I did not eat the food. I was busy so could not take it back but I'm sure they would have made it right.

If I ever had to move away, one of the spots I'd miss is this gem of a place.
The chicken pot pie special is a steal. Totally delicious, and the restaurant feels like you're back home at grandma's!
