The food plate is really empty. The hot pot in Kombu is OK. The meat is of good quality but a bit expensive.

Delicious and artful shabu shabu for a great price. I loved the sukiyaki and shoyu broths and the great dipping sauce combinations. Read the instructions on the menu for some help! The egg is pasteurized so you can crack it in the bowl and use it as a dipping sauce for your hot meat bites. The yolk is the best part .The server is very skilled but he serves many people at once so he can be a bit short but he is kind. I left my ring in the bathroom and he saved it for me so I could pick it up the next day ☺️. Don't take it personally. The shabu shabu and experience is well worth it.

Looks like this draft went unfinished for a year, but we finally found a decent shabu restaurant in San Diego! Prices are unbeatable and the quality unexpectedly exceeded our expectations. Our server, Kirby, was extremely attentive, efficient, and a great caretaker during our dining experience. As for the food...It's critical for hotpot restaurants to have the trifecta of goma, ponzu, and pasteurized eggs available. I was elated to find that all three could be found here. The meat was well-marbled and delicious! Their house broth was flavorful and their sukiyaki broth was very prominent.Another hotpot restaurant we tried while in San Diego was Tabu Shabu. Although Tabu Shabu offers more variety and is more modern, we found that they were outdone by Shabu Shabu House when it came to the flavor and quality of their hotpot! Both have a similar u-shaped layout that allows for just a few servers to maintain all patrons. On the same note, Kirby was the only server handling multiple parties, but took care of every person dining at Shabu Shabu House that night. On our next trip down to San Diego, if not for the food, we'd be back for Kirby's quality of service.

First impressions: Small/intimate atmosphere with a U-shaped bar setting. I like the individual pots. Looks like only one person running front of the house, but he's working it. The food was great! I love shabu and everything about this place enhanced the experience. The meat was on par with anywhere else I've been and I was never waiting for the next round. Well done Shabu Shabu House.

Visited this restaurant on a Sunday around 6pm. Plenty of seating and no wait time. Service was great! The server explained the different sauces and food came out fast. We ordered the New York, pork belly, and lamb. I only liked the pork belly. My date ordered the Tom yum broth and I ordered the sukiyaki broth. Both of the broths were just alright. I personally wouldn't come back here, but it did fill us up.

Unfortunately, I won’t be coming back here. I’ve been here many times, food is good (love the Tom Yum), prices are a bit much for what it is. Service is not good. The server, who recognizes me at this point, decided he wanted to be rude tonight for no reason at all. Spoke to me however he wanted, had every thought of walking out, but decided why not enjoy my last meal here. Hope he fixes his attitude, but won’t be getting my service moving forward. Plenty of better food in this area.

Sukiyaki is great! I'm not very familiar with shabu-shabu and I'm glad I cane here with friends who love this restaurant. They walked me through the menu and how to prep and eat it.The broth is very tasty. It has so much flavor. Boiling the veggies and cooking the meat added more flavor to it. I was so full and satisfied with the food.Parking: Limited parking spaces in front of the restaurant. Also parking space is a bit narrow.

The shoyu broth was so delicious! I usually don't drink the broth when I get soup, but I finished almost all of it because it was so good. There was only one person serving the whole bar so I was surprised to see how well he was able to manage everything. We came in at a busy time so it took a bit for us to get seated and for our food to come. However, once the crowd cleared it was easier to get a hold of the server. The interior of this place is small compared to most restaurants, but I really enjoyed it here. They have good music and a beautiful cherry blossom tree painted on the wall.

I go here all the time, and I adore it! I sometimes try other hot pot places around town — some more expensive, some with different broths, some trendy, etc. — but every time I am disappointed in comparison. Shabu Shabu House is simple, cheap, and absolutely delicious. Nowhere else can you get a variety and quantity of food this good for the price. They even raised prices recently (for the first time in years — I was surprised it hadn’t happened earlier, given inflation), but it is still well-priced and worth it. My partner and I usually eat way past our fill for a little over $20 each. The server is so kind and attentive, always a joy to see. If you’re looking for somewhere to get a good hot pot, this is it!

We were looking for shabu shabu or hotpot place and decided to go with this place. First impression, it's very pricy. Food was not that good. Our broth was not tasty. Sauces are not good. Very expensive meat. Ambiance is alright, a small shop. It's like a bar, you sit facing other people's. Service is very hard to say since it's a one man show. The owner is seemed to be working by himself. So it's difficult to be attentive to everyone.
