Star Anise Thai Cuisine

First of all, the food is amazing. I’m from Thailand and this place makes me feel like at home. I order Pad Thai with shrimp which I love it so much. The noodles are so soft and tasty exactly how I have it back home. And the mango with sweet coconut sticky rice for dessert is just the perfect way to end the meal. Happy me.

Food is not good, not authentic. They served rice that smelled sour. Thr customer service is even worse. The waiters dont know anything about customer service. Dont recommend due to hygiene, bad food and service!

This place is AWESOME! The food is delicious, comes out piping hot and super quick, service and portions are excellent. Our server Moo was super funny and sweet. Best of all, prices are reasonable. We tried Tom Kha, Kee Mao noodles, and Panang Curry. All were excellent.

No wonder no one was in the restaurant at dinner time. Lesson learned!

The service at this restaurant is appalling, and the staff is incredibly rude. Initially, they informed us that there would be a 30-minute wait time. After waiting for 20 minutes, they confirmed the same 30-minute wait. When we questioned them, they offered to give us a table, but the food would arrive after about an hour. Alternatively, they suggested that we place a to-go order. There are other restaurants in San Diego that are really busy compared to this one, yet they handle their customers with politeness and professionalism. This is not the first time we’ve had a negative experience with Star Anise. I strongly advise against dining here.

Ordered for pick up, got there 10-15 minutes after and my food was ready. It was my first time ordering “Tom Kha (with chicken)” and it was a total new taste for me. I loved it. I had it with brown rice. Staff was nice and acknowledged me right away.

Went for lunch. We were served a complimentary salad. Then spring rolls and we tried the shrimp and pineapple fried rice. Service was wonderful. It was nice sitting out in the back plenty of parking.

LOOKS GOOD ! After dining at a Japanese restaurant on Friday night my wife and I decided to have a wander around the shopping center. We spoke with one of the owners of this Thai eatery at the host desk. THE PLACE WAS PACKED OUT !

Stumbled upon this gem while Doordashing and had to come back and try it myself! The staff was immediately helpful and inviting. The food is amazing. Definitely recommended even as a Doordash option👌
