We celebrated my boyfriends dinner here and they truly made it a very unique and special day! Our server, Benjamin, was amazing! From offering great wine recommendations to food recommendations, we enjoyed our night with spectacular food and service. He was very attentive and helpful when it came to picking the right options of food for us.
This restaurant goes above and beyond to showcase their hospitality to guests. From the time you check in to the time you walk out, you experience great service and attention. From the small things such as resetting our table to cleaning after every dish and checking in on us, to serving delicious food, this restaurant is one I’d recommend to friends and family over and over again! Truly a special occasion setting.

I just celebrated my birthday there 12/02 and let me tell you...EVERYTHING was just perfect! The staff (warm and welcoming), food (tasty), and ambiance was just great. You're not rushed, so you get to really sit and enjoy your meal. I wish I could rate the experience more than just 5 stars.
Best Steakhouse in town, hands down.

This Steak 48 location replaced Searsucker, which was known to be the escort bar of Del Mar. Steak 48 thankfully is a lot more upscale and much more delicious. I have been to many Steak 48 locations all around the country this being the newest one. Visiting my hometown and family from Los Angeles for the Thanksgiving holiday day and we all had a wonderful meal. I recently went to the Beverly Hills location and can say it’s just as good here. As most people already know Steak 48 is run by the former owners/brothers of Mastro’s and honestly I think it’s a better version. This Del Mar location is really beautiful and designed well on the inside. It looks as if there are many different styled rooms inside with many private dining tables, and also large dining areas. It’s attached to the Del Mar Highlands Mall so you can find self parking or you can do valet for $10. Everything we ordered came out extremely fast, was cooked perfectly, and was honestly delicious. Our server was also very polite and we didn’t have a single complaint the entire meal. It is quite expensive so that is probably the only downside.
I have been to Steak 48 many times so I decided to get some of my favorites for this visit. I started off with the Wagyu Steak Tartare and really enjoyed it. I love how they give you a side of chopped onions and diced capers to mix with the steak. It had great flavors and was a great start to the meal. For my entrée I chose the largest Bone-in Filet Mignon they had which was the 18 ounce. I usually do enhancements on top but this time I wanted just the meat flavor and honestly loved it. It was cooked perfectly and had tremendous flavor. They also have a very large wine selection as well as tons of cocktails. I would highly suggest to any steak fan or anyone that is searching for a special location for a special occasion. I definitely will be back again very soon.

Steak 48 is by far my favorite restaurant in Del Mar. From its world class wine & spirits collection to the beautiful caviar list - this spot is a true gem. 🥃✨

Outstanding steak house. Very good service, a bit over the top. Meat cooked to perfection. Sides excellent but are really large so get to share. Very good innovative desserts. A bit noisy where we were seated. Definitely a go back spot.

Amazing ambiance, delicious food, and DEEP wine list. Ask for Jared as your server/sommelier - he's legit.

November 6, 2024 business dinner - party of 8 - restaurant was packed and lively and fun.
If my bone-in ribeye steak had been prepared medium, as ordered, or even medium-rare, I would have absolutely nothing to complain about here. Service and atmosphere were really great. Appetizers and desserts were equally amazing. Unfortunately, my $79 steak was cooked to what I would describe as ‘black and blue’; seared on the outside, cold and completely raw inside. Given that steak is the namesake of this establishment and the star of the show, I had to leave only 2 stars in this review for food. Perhaps the 48 refers to the internal temperature (F) of their steaks? Kidding.
I was hosting a formal business dinner and opted not to complain and interrupt the group’s momentum in enjoying the main course. I found out afterward that another member of our 8-person party also had a grossly undercooked steak. I did take the still-mooing steak home and properly killed/grilled it the following evening and it was delicious. Better QC on steaks leaving their kitchen is recommended. Would/will go back but will be very clear about my expectations regarding what constitutes ‘medium’ next time.
Parking: If you don’t want to valet, be prepared to troll the lot for 10-15 min and/or walk a good distance to the restaurant once you find a spot.

I would rate this about 4.5/5. The food was great, the server Jared took care to split our salad for us and deliver everything fresh and lovely. The music is a little loud & the music choice is strange considering how expensive the place is, it's kind of giving party vibes instead of intimate dinner or special occasion.
I will say, however, they gave us a handwritten anniversary celebration note and a comped dessert which was a lovely touch. Also they have Toto toilets!! If it weren't for the loud music making it hard to hear my partner, for sure a 5.

A Memorable Birthday Celebration at Steak 48 Del Mar
I recently celebrated my wife’s birthday at Steak 48 in Del Mar, and it was an experience to remember. From the moment we walked in, the staff went above and beyond to make the evening special. Their kindness, professionalism, and deep knowledge of the menu were truly impressive.
The food was nothing short of phenomenal. We indulged in the bone-in ribeye, which was cooked to perfection, alongside sides like the shells and cheese, sautéed mushrooms, and the most delicious homemade bread. Each dish was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor.
Steak 48 is a haven for steak and seafood lovers, offering a menu that satisfies even the most discerning palate. And don’t overlook the desserts—they are the perfect way to cap off an incredible meal.
This restaurant is a fantastic addition to Del Mar’s dining scene, ideal for special occasions or simply treating yourself to a top-tier dining experience. Highly recommend!
Kid-friendliness: Fancy restaurant for sure but it's so big and comfy that our kids loved it. The food was a home run!

They gave me food poisoning with their terrible seafood. The Managers, Stacy and Robbie, failed to rectify the issue and denied the claim. Somehow blamed me for it? It’s the typical behavior of a business that would sell bad seafood. I’ll be going elsewhere and I’ll suggest that to everyone I know.
