Decided to write a review since it seems there's back and forth. We ordered through uber eats and the prices are not worth it for the food at all! We got an order of popcorn chicken, the Nashville hot po boy, a side of mac and cheese, a side of red beans and rice, and deviled eggs for 80 dollars. My wife could not eat the chicken because it was rubbery and too salty! I could only eat 2 or 3 bites of the po boy because it was extremely hot and salty. And not enjoyably hot either; the chicken was black and I could see the dry bits of spices from it being way over-seasoned. The sides were okay, but as you guessed it, really salty. We will not be ordering from here again, and I would advise everyone to stear clear.
Locals for the past 3 years. Tried it when we first moved and it was great. The more we ate there the more we noticed the inconsistency in the cooking. Eventually it became (at best) a 50/50 chance as to whether the food was going to taste awful (overly-salted and peppered to a truly disgusting degree, covered in grease - even the mashed potatoes, soggy) or not (pretty great actually). We took a year and a half break and tried it again a few weeks ago… it was great again! Alas, this week we were put in our places (fool me twice… shame on me). Mac was so salty we just couldn’t eat it. Waffles tasted like… sourdough?! Not sure how to explain it other than they were sour (we ordered the cinnamon sugar waffles… $9 a waffle ?). If you choose to eat here… may the odds be ever in your favor.
The boneless tenders we ordered were very hard, dry, and small. There was no juicy meat and I paid $50 for watery corn and tenders with minimal chicken. Super disappointed and was a loyal customer until now.
My boyfriend had the chicken tender sliders and they were wonderful. Our favorite was the hot Nashville slider. I had the Waffle and 3 piece southern style chicken combo. The waffle was warm and fluffy and the chicken satisfied my craving for a southern fried classic. If dinner isn’t what you’re looking for, this place also has a full bar, beer & ciders on tap, over 15 original cocktails, milkshakes, and fried cheesecake for dessert (I was eyeballing those, I just didn’t have any room left? )
Came here not knowing what to expect. To my surprise there was no wait and not packed as you would predict at 11am on sunday. I ordered a cinnamon waffle and chicken. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, the best fried chicken I think I've ever had. The waffle had amazing flavor not to mention their varieties were great, fruity pebbles, chocolate chip, cinnamon you name it. This place is a hidden gem, definitely. Only catch is everything is ordered separately and can be a little pricey. Other than that I highly recommend!
Bruh….I paid $120 cuz I got an array of items on their menu. It doesn’t come with sauce, you have to pay 1.50 for an ounce of sauce. The food taste good but I got an order of biscuits to go with this big ol bucket of gravy they got me, they gave me 1 biscuit! The food is good but the incredibly small portion is ridiculous for a such an expensive menu.
We went to this place thinking the food was going to be really good. We ordered 6 whole wings and fries, However the only thing that was good was the fries. The chicken was wayyy overdone, extra hard on the outside and the inside was greasy and slimy! Not good at all. We have been trying to call them and there has been no answer. I would not recommend this place at all! Very disappointed!!
Excellent country fried chicken. The chicken is well done. Crispy and juicy. Decent beer selection. My only issue is that sauces cost extra. Get the chicken skins and some hot sauce.
The two stars was because the cashier was polite through all of this, otherwise it would have been a one star. I would not recommend coming here and if you do. Do not order anything fried. When I stayed in San Diego years ago I loved this place but the food has truly gone down hill since then especially to be so expensive. I came for a visit today and ordered three whole wings fired crispy to go.When I got to my hotel I opened up my food to eat my chicken and there was so much grease inside the chicken, the skin was fried but the meet was slimy. This is usually a sign that chicken is fried to fast or bad/spoiled chicken has been fried from what someone had told me who owns a restaurant.I went back into the restaurant with my food and told the cashier and asked for chicken fingers instead and she told me that they do not take food back once it has left the building. I told her I never heard that before and that is odd because how would a person know something is wrong with their to-go order unless they got home and started to eat it?She understood what I was saying and went to ask her manager after I politely insisted that my order was not “eatable”. She came back and said that the manager said they will only swop the three wings for another batch but not anything else. I had no choice so I had to agree. I did not want wings again bc if they messed them up the first time then my thought was they would do it again. They did mess them up again and it was the same issue, the outside was crispy but the inside extremely slimy and field with grease. I just threw them away and lost my money bc they did not want to allow me to change my order.
I usually love the Streetcar Merchant, and I’ve gone there numerous times. This last particular time was different. The person at the registrer didn’t greet us or offer a menu until we asked, and when handing it over, didn’t say anything at all. That’s not a typical host attitude. Usually the host would be in the business of facilitating the customer’s ordering process. And then once we all got our food, we were missing a knife that usually comes wrapped in the napkins. There’s no longer the service table near the bathroom, so I went to the kitchen to politely ask for one. One of the helpers was clearly very bothered by me doing that, but did give me the knife with a very unpleasant attitude. Good thing I had no shame leaving zero tip at the register. The food is still very good, and I will continue to come, but I will practice the usual post meal tip, if any. I suggest only hiring customer service oriented people. If I wanted fried chicken and poor service I would just go to church’s chicken.

Great vibe and even better food! Open, airy seating with friendly staff. Loved the popcorn po boy, chicken and waffles and biscuit sandwich with bacon jam. Might need to take a nap after this meal!
How in tarnation have I not reviewed my beloved StreetCar?! I’m ashamed.Go here. The chicken tendies are the best in town. Collard greens are on point. Might be addicted to their pickle chips. They have like 8 different house-made sauces and they are all amazing.Everything is perfect, and it’s the only place I’ll go when I’ve got a Sweet Tea craving, Bc that sh** is NOT easy to find in San Diego.
Nothing personal against this establishment, but the food was TERRIBLE!!!!!!!Me and my co worker got the same thung and we both said the biscuits and gravy had a Sour,Cheesy taste and some type of mystery meat in it.The chicken didn't look anything like the website and still had blood in it .My meal cost $21 id love to have a refund but i doubt it WOULD ever happen. I POSTED A PICTURE OF THE CHICKEN.THE CASHIER WAS REALLY NICE THOUGH.
If I could give this place no stars I would. I don’t even know where to begin with the review. From the beginning the greeting was horrible. The worker ( RaVae) was rude, racist, and judgmental. We open a tabbed to be told there’s a two drink max. When asked for this written disclaimer we were then told it’s a personal choice, and she made a personal choice not to serve us another drink. She goes on to say that if I ordered I couldn’t share my drink, “if that’s what we planned on doing”. I can described how livid I was to be treated in such a way. To be a blacked own restaurant and to be treated with lack of professional and curiosity is appalling to me. Won’t get service from me ever again!
This place is okay. It's way overpriced though. I got a $10 chicken sandwich, $3 side of fries and $1 for a side of sauce (a ripoff if you ask me). The chicken sandwich was decent but still inferior to KFC, Popeye's and even Burger King, which are all around $4. The fries were actually incredible and there were a lot of them. The side of comeback sauce was good enough but it was $1 for a side of mayo with some spices in it. The employees were all very friendly but I don't really think I'm in any hurry to go back here when I can get better food for cheaper elsewhere, especially in locations where it doesn't take 10 minutes to find parking 8 blocks away.
