Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The atmosphere in the outside seating area was so cute and fun, the food was delicious, and the fancy hot chocolates were really fun. I had the lemon curd pancakes with blackberries and orange cardamom syrup, and a unicorn hot chocolate. My son had an excellent bread pudding french toast and daughter in-law had a strawberry cloud hot chocolate. The portions were huge! None of us could eat it all.

Sugar and Scribe recently made a gorgeous cake, cupcakes, and personalized cookies with our logo on them (!) for our graduation event that were not only classy, gorgeous, and so special, but also tasted beyond amazing. In fact, I'm truly not sure I've ever tasted a better cake. Thank you to Maeve and Sugar and Scribe!

As the name suggests, Sugar and Scribe leans heavily on the sweet side. I ordered an oat milk latte that came sweetened by default, even though I didn’t request sugar so I’d recommend asking for no added sugar in advance if you prefer it less sweet.

The bread pudding French toast was rich and flavorful, though definitely a large portion, best shared! My husband got the shakshuka without egg (he’s vegetarian), which was okay. They don’t offer dedicated vegetarian options, but the kitchen is accommodating and can modify dishes to exclude eggs or meat, which is helpful to keep in mind.

The ambience is cute, the staff is friendly, and the wait time was reasonable. Overall, it’s a cozy spot for a sweet brunch, just be mindful of how sugary things can get.

Ok, me and friend been wanting to try this place based on their menu and reviews. We are foodies. So we tried the drinks and food. Presentation of the drinks and food: 10/10, taste 10/10. Drinks 9/10 the blue drink had no flavor, just for looks. Definitely get brunch place to be ate.

I stopped in for brunch when I was in the area.

They had a long wait but most parties were bigger than ours. Since we had a party of 2, we were seated almost immediately.

I ordered eggs Benedict and also tried the pancakes.

Because it was busy, it took awhile for a server to come over and for coffee refills.

I really enjoyed the outdoor space. It was cozy and comfortable with lots of benches, chairs and pillows.

I would come back here if I was in the area.

Extremely disappointing experience at Sugar and Scribe. We waited over 20 minutes after placing our order with no updates. When we asked the staff, no one came back to us. I went to the front and an

Yummy blueberry lemon curd pancakes. Tumeric ginger latte was so-so. Will try a savory dish next time, smells really good.

Went here to celebrate the day before my wedding and it was a great brunch for a special occasion. The atmosphere is lovely, the service is really friendly, and everything we ordered was delicious. The seasonal pickles were especially good, and the rose mimosa is a must.

No wait on a Wednesday around 11:30, and it wasn't super busy so we got to leisurely enjoy our meal. Bathrooms were clean and pretty, and the shop inside has lots of treats and items to bring home.

We went on a very hot weekend and had to sit outside because there was a private party inside. The wait to get seated wasn't very long despite how crowded it already was - we ended up sitting near the entrance on the top patio area. There was no fans to cool down the guests or little table fans to keep flies away.

It took about 15 minutes after being seated before anyone offered us water. I was so confused that I went inside to see if I was supposed to order food in there. When I went to the counter, a rather curt young woman acted like I had committed a crime by asking her if I was supposed to order inside because we had been waiting almost 15 minutes. She wasn't helpful.

When we finally did get a waiter, he was actually very kind and nice. We placed our order, coffee, basic egg breakfast, lemon pancake, and a scotch egg. Food arrived shortly afterwards and it was a little disappointing.

The pancake was very sweet, overly sweet for my taste, and soggy in the middle. It was absolutely beautiful in the presentation however. The basic breakfast was ok, the potatoes were the star of that dish. The scotch egg seemed promising but had very little flavor.

Everything was presented beautifully, but the flavor just wasn't there for me.

Overall, this place seems to be more geared towards Instagram views/posts rather than good food and service.

The wife and I were looking for a place for breakfast. We walked a few blocks from our hotel and decided to try it out. The atmosphere seemed vibrant and yet relaxed. The food was absolutely amazing and the ser ice impeccable! If you plan on visiting La Jolla, this is an absolute must for either breakfast or brunch. A week later, I'm still thinking of that place.
