The food here was so delicious and the drinks were different but nice, I also got some hot cocoa to go. Will definitely come back.

Waited 40 min to sit. Not an issue esp on Sunday. 50 min to get food is ridiculous. Feel bad for server. Would never go back. Hostess should be informing people of kitchen issues. They didn’t even offer to comp coffee.

GREAT FOOD ! Today was our first visit to this newer location of Sugar and Scribe Bakery. My wife and I were very impressed with everything we saw. Karissa took our lunch order and Rebecca made us incredibly delicious lattes. They use Caffe Calabria roasted coffee beans here so we knew it would be the best. Our lunch was superb...our puff pies were a work of art. I had a chat with Kyla at the cupcake counter...I thought Karissa looked the same person as Kyla until I found out they are absolute identical twins. Ha ha on me. We remember the old Sugar and Scribe at PB years ago when we first met the hard working and talented Irish owner Maeve. We can't wait to come back soon and try more goodies.

.....January 2017 and we came back for lunch last Sunday....just terrific service and wonderful wholesome food again.

I'm so disappointed. We used to live around the corner from this spot and it's been a favorite I come back to anytime we're visiting the area. Unfortunately our experience was lack luster this time. They've expanded and changed the menu and it seems the experience has gone downhill. Our wait was not bad for a table considering how many people were waiting and the front hostess was great. Our server was very kind but unfortunately he did not check in for quite sometime and our refills didn't come until we were almost done eating which was really disappointing, especially with kids. When I went inside to the bakery counter I was disappointed to see that the options were very limited compared to two years ago. It seems to have become more focused on brunch than bakery? Overall, a fine experience but I'm not dying to return like I was in the past. So sad 😢.

If youre visiting SD and looking for a great spot, this is the place! There is a wait, but it's because it's a very popular spot. The wait was very reasonable, 15-20 minutes on a busy Sat/Sun. The servers are great and very kind, and the lady in the front is very kind and remembered me from the day before. The food is spectacular, and the shop is super cute and cozy. Great variety of food, drinks, and pastries. 10/10 recommend

Chef Maeve created an incredible venue - this is not just a restaurant. This is an experience. From seating, to service, and of course the award winning food - every sight and bite is worth its wait and price, even thought we had no wait and almost instant gratification.

My first time here and was so impressed. This place is so well-run and I was surprised to see the owner handling hosting and you can tell she runs a well oiled machine. The vibe is so charming. Our server (I think her name was Sophie?) was lovely and I had the truffle toast with like 4 different kinds of mushrooms and a giant slice of toast that was to die for. The portions were great and I ate every bite. My husband is a sweet breakfast fiend and I’m so excited to bring him here. Best brunch I’ve had in San Diego yet!

You have GOT to try the pancakes….I am literally sitting here in the restaurant still eating these pancakes while writing this review because you have to know what I’m experiencing. These are easily the best pancakes of my life!! I dipped some in my husbands caramel sauce from his French toast and my eyes got brighter, the sky got brighter, I could smell the flowers a bit more. I honestly think these pancakes have changed my life. You must get them. They are even good plain!! I would never say that if you know me…. Ugh I hope to come back here one day.

We've been wanting to try S&S since we moved to La Jolla because the place is just beautiful. Flowers everywhere, covered patio seating. Just gorgeous. The hostess was delightful. Our waitress was at the end of her shift, but she and everyone who took care of us were attentive and friendly. It was just a lovely experience all around. The food is beautiful. We had hot chocolate to drink because they make the marshmallow un house. The beverage itself wasn't hot enough for me, but it was fantastic anyway. The food was excellent with sweet and savory brunch selections. When my girls were little they would have wanted to go to S&S everyday.
