I got a meatball sandwich and a hot dog. I’m not sure which I liked more, but they were both excellent. The cold berry soup (Rødgrød) with cream was a delightful dessert and not something I’ve seen on a menu before. The freshly made juice was the perfect balance of flavor and sweetness. I’m excited to go back and try more dishes. Above all, the service was exceptional. Tina gave great recommendations and was a delight to chat with.

Small place with just a few tables inside and 3 or 4 outside. Complimentary starter was homemade Danish rye bread, cabbage and strawberries. My wife and I shared the three Danish sandwiches. There was plenty of food, and the co-owner Tina dissauded us from ordering another entree unless we were really hungry. She was right.
We finished by sharing røde grøde med fløde, with was a great dessert.
Reservations are recommended, particularly on the weekend.
We have been to Denmark several times and finding this gem in Hillcrest has been a highlight of our stay in San Diego.

The food was salty, and it was expensive for a little portion
This is seriously one of the best places I've eaten in San Diego. Great atmosphere, friendly owner who talked us through the whole order process and her recommendations, and fantastic food. Highly highly recommend stopping here for lunch or dinner, and I will definitely be back!!

A truly special place in San Diego— the smørrebrød (had the salmon and herring) was phenomenal and the Apple Danish was amazing. Those who’ve been to Denmark know how good the cuisine is, those who haven’t just need to visit Taste of Denmark, so good!

It's a small little shop and when we went there was two on staff but it's tiny size makes it feel more homey. Our server who's name I unfortunately forgot is really passionate about her food and country and you can feel it in her service through her questions before and after you got your food. She came by frequently to check on how we were doing. Her happiness was palpable when we reassured her the food and pastries were decadent. A true hidden gem before some influencer blows this spot up don't sleep on it. Do not skip the pastries if they're freshly baked, one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth.

The food was excellent, appealing to the eye and to the taste buds. Satisfied my hunger for Danish food since my trip to Denmark. Tina was excellent in helping us. And the rugbrød was sooooo good we had to take home a loaf.

We've come here several times and everything we've had is excellent! Their rye bread is incredible, and I love that they bring a little snack plate before your meal. It's a wife and husband team who run it - you definitely get the home-cooked meal experience here!
