This used to be my favorite restaurant, but I hadn’t been here for a few months. I came back today, and I was really disappointed. I’m not sure if they changed chefs, but the food has gone downhill a lot. It used to taste like it was prepared by a professional chef. Now it feels more like an average home-cooked meal.

I ordered three dishes, but they didn’t include even one set of utensils and didn’t ask if I needed any. Are they really trying to save that much? Even if the food is good, this kind of poor service detail really affects the experience. I hope the restaurant pays more attention to basic takeout service.

The food is great ! ordered the chicken with ginger along with rice. My girl friend ordered the pork with hot pepers. Food was served very hot and delivered within 10 minutes. What really impressed me is how tasty the food was. The portions of food were large.

We had been to Taste of Hunan before about half a year ago and the experience was decent, so we decided to give it another try recently. Unfortunately this visit was really disappointing.

The biggest issue was food safety. Multiple people in our family had stomach problems and diarrhea after eating here, including me, and I normally have a very strong stomach and almost never react badly to restaurant food. That was honestly a huge red flag.

A lot of the dishes were extremely oily and left us feeling unusually thirsty afterward, almost like there was too much seasoning or MSG used. Some dishes tasted okay, but overall the quality felt much lower than before. Portion sizes also didn’t really match the prices.

Service was average at best. We’ve done both dine-in and takeout here and the staff generally seemed disorganized and not very attentive.

The most important thing for any restaurant is basic food safety, and this visit completely missed the mark for us. There are too many restaurants
in the area to risk getting sick again.

Deliciously spicy Hunanese foods. The menu is accessible, and felt like it had staples from Hunan. The smashed eggplant and stir fried pork dishes deserve repeat orders.

Really tasty dinner overall. Fish with pickled veg was a standout, as was the eggplant and century egg. Cumin lamb was a bit dry but heated up well next day. The chow mein was fine, as was the steamed egg/pork. Wait staff was great, kept checking in with our party.

Ordered saute beef with pickled chili pepper and was disappointed to see that the actual dish came out looking totally different. The quality of the beef was subpar compared to what was shown in the menu. Because the cut of the beef used was thin, the chili peppers were totally saturated in it making it super spicy. There was a lot of cilantro on the bottom of the dish. Overall a disappointment in terms of portion and quality. However, the flavor of the dishe was very good and authentic. Tofu dish came out as expected. Again photo on the menu was a bit deceptive in terms of food volume. Came out to $25 per person.
