The Church by The Lost Abbey is a unique beer hall located in a renovated Mexican Presbyterian Church in East Village, not too far from the Padres stadium. The atmosphere is warm and unconventional, with stain-glass windows, church pews for seating, and a beer bar in place of a podium. A large communal table sits in the middle, with booths on the sides. While not a restaurant, they serve brunch on weekends with breakfast sandwiches, burritos, and specialty beers on draft. The beer selection is extensive, featuring creative names and flavors like Shoreveza Mexican Lager and Every Everything West Coast IPA, served cold in tasting sizes. Guests can also order from Doggos next door using a tablet inside the bar. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, providing excellent service. In addition to beer, they offer canned wine and food options like hot dogs, burgers, veggie burgers, Sonoran dog, and elote cup. The Church is dog-friendly, making it a great spot to grab a drink and a bite before a game or event at Petco Park.
