Definitely some of the tastiest burgers I've ever had. Burgers with an S because I got a second one. Crispiest bun I've ever eaten, and the seasoning was immaculate. I walked right past this place because of no labels on the building, but the outside open area is pretty chill and the workers are very friendly (no pun intended). Get onion rings as your side, and throw one in the burger. Theyre super delicious and I'm definitely coming back here in the near future. Loved this place

Simple place with outdoor picnic style seating. The beer was cold and the burgers are incredible! Especially if you like a greasy, Cafe style smashburger. Prices were very fair as well.

Can't beat them smashed burgers. The Friendly Tavern is an awesome little spot if you’re craving a solid smash burger. The OG Dirty Flat Top was crispy, juicy, and super satisfying. Onion rings and dipping sauces are on point too. cant beat the beer selection and the heavy pours of booze. Definitely a very greasy burger, but well worth the mess.

Burgers are delicious but the wait was not what you would expect for a smash burger and fries. Took twenty minutes to get it out the window. Grimy dive atmosphere. Outdoor seating. I’d say if you have the time to do a tour of the best San Diego burger joints, stop in but not a place for a quick bite or a family friendly stop.

The food was fantastic. The only disappointment was that you can't take ingredients off the burger. Since my spouse can't stand mayo, that really limited the menu for him. Other than that, we had a great time and will probably return. For me anyway the burger absolutely lived up to the hype.

Came to this spot with some friends after being at the park close by. Terrible experience our order never came out. I went up to ask if they had called our names the cook was very rude. The server addressed the issue however orders still kept coming out. Waited over 45 min ended up canceling order to go somewhere else.

Absolutely, loved the food! Drake and Slim know what they’re doing! We went to the friendly off university because we had seen the posts from Facebook. We’re new and we didn’t read the fine print of the burgers being certain days and the location, we just wanted to try it because of the hype. The location was great, cooks were great, only thing that killed the vibe was the service. We told Jose we were new, and got complete attitude the entire order. All we were told was there’s the menu, and rushed us through our entire order. I get people have bad days, but if you’re in the food industry, do better. Recommend the food, but not service.
