We had lunch here before and we liked it. We came back this time for dinner and it was great. Pleasant, spacious interior. Comfortable seats near big windows. Outstanding service. Good wine list. Food was excellent too. We're coming back.
Mediocre Food and Service The food here is nothing special, and I strongly advise against ordering the Sunday night prime rib dinner. It arrived overcooked and dry. You can find better prime rib at a buffet in an off-strip Las Vegas restaurant. We will not return to this place again
Man oh man! The experience of a lifetime! Everything was outstanding. Perfect date night. Staff was friendly and attentive. Felt welcomed as soon as we came through the door. The food was delicious and worth every penny spent. Beautiful and CLEAN!
It was a very disappointing dinner. We were celebrating my birthday and had good experiences before. However, this time the it wasn't good overall. Service was very slow. It seems they must have been short handed. Scallops were sandy and shrmp was dry. Overall very disappointing experience and not worth the price
I have dined at The Winery before and always had great service . Unfortunately things did not go well. We were seated and than ignored, watched other diners seated after us get water and drink orders put in. No one even came close to us so we could get a server's attention. After 15 minutes we left, told the person at the front why we were leaving and they shrugged their shoulders and told us "have a good one". Probably won't be back, there are to many other places to eat at that want my $$
After a long day my wife and I enjoyed a fine dining experience at this establishment. The wait staff was very knowledgeable and friendly and made for a very pleasant experience. They gave us time to enjoy our cocktails and were helpful in wine recommendations. We will recommend this restaurant to our friends, family and business colleagues.
I've been going here for special occasions for many many years. This was without a question the worst dining experience I've ever had in this restaurant. It is very doubtful that I will ever be going back, which is unfortunate as they had a great menu in the past great location, and, great service. It's too bad to see what was once a high-end dining establishment turn into just another failed restaurant.
Food was quite salty. Steak was overcooked, twice. Calamari was tough and cold. Overall for $250 I was not impressed at all. My food was just average and the timing of the service was strange. My wine came out after my steak and when my 2nd steak came out after being overcooked my mashed potatoes were already cold.

This was one of the best dining experience my husband and have had. From the way we were greeted to the service, food and ambiance. Special thanks to Steven our waiter for the night for making us feel special.
A last minute reservation turned into a wonderful evening. Paul and the rest of the staff were attentive and outstanding. Both the lobster special and my wife's short ribs were prepared perfectly. Will be back again when we return to San Diego.
We went for the Sunday nite prime rib special, but were told after we sat down @ 7:15 pm that they had run out at 4:30 pm -- not an auspicious beginning. The service was poor: It took 45 min to get our simple 2-drink order even though there were only a few other parties in the room and an hour before our appetizers arrived. Though my mussel & clam appetizer was a generous portion and tasty, they had to substitute use pork belly for flavoring because they had run out of chorizo. On the more positive side: Our mains (mahi-mahi and scallops) were ample and tasty; the restaurant is quite pretty and the noise level was low; and prices were not unreasonable and there was no surcharge -- a rarity these days for La Jolla restaurants.
I had high hopes for this place. It started off strong as we ordered the hamachi crudo for our appetizer, which was very good. However we then found out the prime rib special was already sold out for the day, which was something we were looking forward to. We ordered steaks instead but they came out extremely overcooked. They were redone to our liking and we were offered some complimentary items, but afterwards, we were very much ignored and had a hard time even paying our bill. Very disappointing experience.
We enjoyed lunch at The Winery last Sunday and sat at the bar to also watch the UEFA championship game. Our bartender/server was John who was attentive and pleasant. The drinks, oysters and salmon sandwich were all really enjoyable. Thank you and we will be back. By the way, it's too bad that OpenTable has such restrictions on photos to upload - I had a great pic of the oysters and bloody's that won't upload.
