I ordered empanadas from here during the World Cup and they were authentic Colombian empanadas. I think it’s great that they also have a Latin market with Latin staples.

Came across this market by chance, and how HAPPY I am that I did! 3 years in SD and I have been to another market for my venezuelan items. This place has so much variety from our country! Malta Maltin Polar, tequeños (small and medium) flips (toops) pirulin, harina pan white and yellow, venezuelan candy and chocolate, dude so much stuff! Will visit the restaurant soon for some delicious food. Oh and prices? Amaaaaazing!😏

Very family oriented, if you’re from South America Caribbean you should visit this spot you’ll get homemade food. They have great customer service, the owners were always smiling and friendly to the customers. I am definitely coming back .

Today my family and I came to eat here, the food is very good but the customer service wasn't good, the person who took our order was very rude, he yelled at us and cussed infront of my children, and he had a very bad attitude and looked like he didn't want to be there.

One of my favorite places. I love the smell of Caribbean food when you pull up...it transports me a tropical climate. In addition to the restaurant comfort food, I love the little shop with all the hard to get items. It's my go-to for buying mate and plantains, etc.

I was really disappointed with my experience at Tropical Star. The food didn’t feel authentic at all. The lomo saltado was full of cartilage, the seasonings were off, which made it very unpleasant to attempt to eat. The ahi was just as disappointing. For spending over $100 on food, I definitely had much higher expectations. Unfortunately, it didn’t feel worth the price, my family and I will not return. We honestly threw our food away, it was overall terrible.

I've never dine here, just get latin American products from the market. It carry the most popular items. Like dulce de leche y yerba from argentina.
