This place is unfortunately not nearly as fun as it used to be. It was always a divey bar and had a mixed crowd but it used to be frequented by lots of sexy and hunky men. These days it seems like it’s mostly alcoholics and tourists from Sacramento.
Our 1st stop in San Francisco. The bartender, Andy, is brilliant. He answers our inane touristy questions ad nauseum. Patient, kind, and sweet. He gave us tips on who, where, what to see/do while we're here.
I wanted to go to see this peculiar neighborhood of San Francisco and by score I ended up at 440. The truth is that it is more of a men's atmosphere but they treated us very well and even recommended vineyards to visit in Napa.
