excellent italian staples, meatballs with tasty sauce, ricotta balls, margerita pizza, and panda cota. all recommended.

Great place, reasonable price. The pasta dishes were fresh and delicious. Would definitely come back again.

Very happy with our dinner at Mano. First, we arrived about 20 minutes late due to traffic, but they graciously seated us at the outside table we had reserved. Not a super extensive menu, which can be a good sign that they focus on things they do well. We started with the cauliflower appetizer with lemon, chili and a piquant bagna cauda (olive oil, garlic and anchovies sauce) which was perfectly done and delicious. Next was the spaghetti with clams, broccolini, garlic and chile. The spaghetti was perfectly cooked al dente, but the sauce could have benefited from maybe 1/3 less salt. We ended with a tasty pistachio gelato. Nice cocktail menu. The choice of wine by the glass was rather limited, but the selection represented good value. The service was attentive. Will dine there again.

We were visiting San Francisco and the concierge at the hotel recommended a Mano. The food was delicious, and the ambience wonderful. We had a very nice time there.

Good food does not make up for racial bias.
My husband and I (both black) were seated outside by the hostess. It was somewhat empty outside, but there were two waiters attending to the outdoor seating. 5-10 minutes after we were sat, a pair of white women, and then a white elderly couple were seated. The waiter catered to each of these groups but my husband and I were ignored. Meanwhile the waiter did his rounds with the other groups, took their orders, brought their appetizers in, and came back to ask if they needed anything else. It was such a disheartening experience. Luckily for us, one of the managers happened to walk outside and ask if we were assisted, to which we answered no, and he took our orders.

The pasta is over cooked, not home made, don’t get the tuna salad, it’s too creamy, focaccia is dry, meatballs are decent. Drinks are good.

I went there once for lunch and didn’t find the food appealing on several levels. I ordered the arancini, which tasted very basic. The main course, radiatori, was unexpectedly greasy and a bit too salty. The chocolate mousse dessert was bland, and the hazelnuts on top were stale.

As for the ambiance, there seemed to be a mix of regulars and ongoing business meetings. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place, especially if you’re a health conscious eater.

Great kale salad and meatballs but the main dish, short rib ragu, was a sorrowful disappointment. Bland and with barely any meat, I asked my friend to taste it as well to confirm I wasn't being overly judgemental and he thought the same. Can't recommend this place.

Came here to eat dinner before a performance at the SF Ballet. Bucatini and spaghetti were both decent. Outdoor seating is heated.

However, the service was very poor. Our server skipped over our table three times despite coming by to check on adjacent tables. We had to flag him down loudly before he came over.

There are plenty of other solid restaurants in the vicinity. I'd recommend picking a place with better service until this place improves.

Long-time customer — we come almost twice a month. Food is always excellent and service is usually great. Unfortunately tonight we had a very poor experience with the hostess, who was rude from the very beginning when we first asked for a table. After being told to wait outside with no time estimate and standing there for over 10 minutes while tables were empty, I politely asked a waitress about the wait. The hostess abruptly interrupted and spoke to us very rudely. The atmosphere became so unpleasant that we were given the check without ever being asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu or order another drink. Guests who arrived after us were seated first. Very disappointing and not representative of A Mano.

I am a very regular customer at A Mano and have always valued the food and service. Tonight December 22, however, the hostess was rude and unprofessional from the moment we asked for a table. We were told to wait outside with no indication of timing or effort to prepare a table. After standing there for over 10 minutes while tables were empty, I politely asked a waitress about the wait. The hostess cut in abruptly and addressed us disrespectfully, even though the question wasn’t directed to her. The situation became so uncomfortable that we were presented with the check without ever being asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu or order another drink, making us feel rushed out. Guests who arrived after us were seated first. This behavior is unacceptable and far below the standards of the restaurant.

Early dinner time on Friday. They have a limited menu before 5 (maybe sharing that next time?). The service was below average, our server didn't introduce herself until we asked if we could order something, probably around 10 minutes after we sat down. She didn't come back for a while to take our food order. The food don't arrive for a long time and we didn't have a server coming to get us more drinks (or anything) untile we asked for it. The food was ok, above average, but not enough to justify a bad service.

Service was excellent. However no one should be seated at the end table by the bathroom. We could smell it from our table and then moved to the next one. Also my friend's pasta came with almost no sauce and it was supposed to be tagliatelle with bolognese. We were in a hurry and they were swamped so we did not complain. After being my go-to before a show, I will not be dining there again.

We sat outside and even though a chilly night it was fine since they have overhead heaters. The noise from Hayes street was not overshelming - if fact it was quieter outside vs. inside. The only issue is the wait staff are not terribly attentive to the outdoor diners. It could have been our particular waiter. Absent that - the food came out piping hot and quickly. The risotto balls need a little more sauce and could use a bit more seasoning - but they were great nonetheless
