AltoVino Reviews
Lovely friendly Italian wine bar and delicious restaurant. Fresh innovative salads, pastas and main courses. Highly recommended.
We had an incredible date night experience at AltoVino! The food was absolutely amazing. We had an appetizer per the recommendation of our lovely server Christine that was maybe the best thing I’ve ever tasted and then my husband and I both had the Pappardelle entree that definitely lived up to the hype. AltoVino is a cozy restaurant located in San Francisco, known for its charming ambiance and warm service. The restaurant features a cute atmosphere with a cable car running along Mason St. The dining room is an inviting space, ideal for a romantic date night or a gathering with friends. The Italian-only wine menu is extensive, and the waitstaff is helpful and knowledgeable in guiding wine selections. The food offerings are delicious, with highlights such as the lemon pea crostini, olive starter, salad du jour, and the standout dish, the 10-hour beef pappardelle, which is perfectly cooked with a rich, satisfying sauce. However, reviews mention that the cod was far too salty, and the Amatriciana lacked the depth typically expected. While the florentine steak was found to be just average considering its cost, the service is generally kind and attentive. Overall, AltoVino has potential, making it a great spot for tasty Italian food and a wonderful dining experience, especially for the pasta.
