The restaurant was "fine" but not worth the price and nothing was particularly good. They were generous with the bread, but it was mediocre, supermarket style baguette. I ordered the French onion soup which was soggy, a little greasy and with an odd tasting broth. Not terrible, not even bad - but not good. I also ordered the cassoulet whichw as oddly bland. Not terrible, but not good. In a town of good restaurants, there are better options and better values. The kitchen needs to up its game and pay more attention to the quality of the food they send out.

Great food and ambiance. I would definitely return! Not really the fault of the restaurant but was very busy during our reservation time (around noon) and very loud. It was difficult to hear members or our group and have any sort of conversation. Eventually - as diners left, the noise level was reduced. If you have the option of sitting outside, I recommend doing so as the noise level was significantly less on the small patio.

In town for a conference and wanted some wine and tapas. B44 truly hit the spot!!! Excellent bites and some great wine choices. We really enjoyed the environment and our server was top notch, she made great recommendations and kept our glasses full. B44 is high on my list of must visit places when I'm in town.

Delightful food, location, and service. B44's fusion of Spanish and French menus was a perfect match! We enjoyed our meal thoroughly, from generous tapas options, beautiful salads, French garlic green beans, and a perfectly delicate, fluffy egg and potato Spanish tortilla. Wonderful experience!

This will have been my 5th visit in three years to B44 and it has become my go to downtown eatery. The menu of both French and Tapas and the variety cannot be beat! Add on to that the incredible friendly and attentive service from Sabeena or Remo makes it one of my favorite resturants. Go, you won't be dissapointed!

Our reservation was at 6:30pm on a Friday evening. We order cocktails, an appetizer and our main course all at once at 6:40PM. By 7:30PM we still hadn't received anything, not even our cocktails. It wasn't until every table around us had dinner and left that we asked for manager, at which point we were told they were very busy due to shows. When we finally received the food it was delicious....however, it all came out at once, including appetizer. Not a good experience.

This Spanish restaurant is not the best one I've been in the city. The Spanish omelette was not good. I think there are better Spanish restaurants in Sf.

A wonderful evening at B44! The food was fabulous and came out quickly. Every dish, superb and flavorful - the paella is a can't miss and will keep you coming back for more. Servers were attentive, friendly and professional. This is bookmark-worthy to return again.

I LOVE B44, if I could I would go there everyday ??. The food is amazing and my husband (a very Spaniard man) approves! We always go there for romantic and festive moments and it never disappoints ??

There are several Spanish restaurants much closer to our Silicon Valley home. We go to B44. The potatoes alone are worth the extra trip.

Seems to be the same theme, "What changed post COVID. Wife and I have been going to B44 for almost 8 years now every year we visit San Fran. We arrived at this place and noticed something different. First off, the name. It is now two places in one. Cafe Bastille (French food), and B44 (Spanish). We came during Bastille Day, which normally wouldn't be too crowded, but lots of French people were here for the convention. The manager finally gave my wife and I a table even though we didn't have a reservation. Normally, I try and consider improvements from my last visit to improve the review, however, it is not possible for this one. The food we typically get there, was still on the menu, but sub par from the last time, we visited, prior to COVID. The octopus was small, and dry. The escargot were way too salty and soaked in butter. The Sangria, which used to be my favorite, was horrible. Tasted like vinegar wine. The beat salad came with a pile of arugula and like three chunks of beats. The only thing good was the cheviche.Look, I get it, things have changed a lot since the pandemic, and places have to pay more and raise prices. But please do that and keep the quality. Don't reduce the quality and increase prices. It doesn't work.We found out afterward the original chef/owner, who we know, sold the place recently, including his place in Austin and moved back to Spain after 40 years in the states.Makes sense why the place just isn't the same. Too bad, it used to be good.

We had the most delicious tapas & paella! The food here is authentic and beautifully prepared. Service is perfect. Our server Sabine was knowledgeable, professional and welcoming. She advised us about the wine list too. We had a great meal and a terrific evening. Can't wait to go back.
