I wish negative stars were a feature, because that’s what I would give. Terrible dining experience, they give us everything we don’t want and nothing we actually want. Who cuts up bananas and puts them on a plate with 2 fried dumplings and oily fried nuts? I make better girl dinners 5 cocktails in.

TLDR: Prices are very high, food is mediocre and small portions, and there are much better options in Chinatown.

Went in on a Saturday evening with a small group on a search for quality Chinese food to share family style. This restaurant had a deal for potstickers, so we decided to give it a try.

They offer a warm towel to clean your hands in the beginning which is a nice touch. The staff was fairly friendly and they even gave our group an extra appetizer.

The food on the other hand was mediocre and just did not seem of good quality. Our first dish, was a hot and sour soup, that had large glops of gel and didn’t have great flavor. We then ordered Szechwan beef, steamed pork dumplings, kung pao and general tso chicken, and the chefs special fried rice. The steamed dumplings were the best dish, warm and delicious.

However, the main courses lacked flavor and just seemed off. Portion sizes felt a bit smaller, for our group of 5. By the end of the meal we still felt hungry.

They charge $9 for a small Tsing Tao which seems a bit over the top for the vibe of the restaurants amenities/atmosphere. Supposedly, if we had ordered Sapporo we would’ve received a discount, but only on your first round? When we asked if we could still get the discount the waitress ignored the request. 2 rounds of beer for our group was $100. They added a 20% gratuity and didn’t tell us.

Overall, there are much better options in Chinatown and I would not recommend this dish.

Unfortunately, we too fell for advertising on the street (you should know better, good restaurants don't hand out flyers on the street!) In short, it wasn't just inedible, it was old and disgusting. Apart from the plastic cutlery. Something like that should be closed, ugh

People were overly nice..ok.. We ordered family portions and they gave us normal portions, the plates to eat off were small like tea cup... the food was not good..I was expecting some good Chinese food especially being in China town.. All I can say is I'll never eat there again ,(

We were expecting authentic dim sum dishes but we were extremely disappointed!!! The flavor of the food was not tasty, some dishes were cold and had an old food taste to it. The food bill was written in Chinese so we had no idea what we were being charged. We had 5 people and the 25% tip was automatically added to the bill without letting us know. We had to verify about the charges before paying the bill. They gave us cheap junk gifts at the end of our meal. DO NOT eat here!

This is the best Chinese restaurant, the food is delicious and the service is excellent. The owner is the best of all. The owner is very handsome and likes to tell the story of the Chinese restaurant to the customers, and there are free gifts. The owner is happy every day. Beijing 49er is affordable and the food is beautifully colored. I want to make sure everyone comes to our Chinese restaurant in Chinatown to support us

Solid food and an amazing atmosphere. Beautiful historic and storied decor, an AWESOME balcony overlooking the park, and incredible service. Friendly staff and owners shared with me that it’s the city’s only four-story restaurant.

The location is super cute, nice tiny balcony seating available, and the service was fast and polite. It’s not fancy food, and it’s kinda rushed, but it’s tasty and the overall experience is enjoyable, if a bit touristy and cheesy. HOWEVER - the bill came with a bunch of surprise charges, they forgot two of our included appetizers (which they did furnish upon request). But the bill - they had an unannounced “SF Mandate” fee - which is not a mandate but is the slimy way some restaurants have tried to protest being required to provide minimal healthcare to their staff. Which is fine, if a bit deceptive, if you have it posted on the menu beforehand. But you can’t just invent fees after the fact. They also decided to INCLUDE the tip (again, fine if you say it upfront but not okay if you quietly put it as an unlabeled item on the scrawled bill.) I have no problem tipping, the service was good. But when I brought up the bill issues they were very dismissive talking over me rapidly and loudly “THANK YOU THANK PAY WHAT YOU WANT THANK YOU JUST PAY WHAT YOU WANT THANK YOU THANK YOU” which was very very rude. All in all, I don’t think they are *trying* to cheat anyone - I accidentally paid an extra $5 cash and the woman who I paid ran over to find me to give it back. But it was a very off putting experience at the end which is a shame because up until then we enjoyed it for what it is, a cute location and serviceable food (the spicy beef was quite tasty).
