Bumped into Bun Mee on my way to catch the train back over the bridge. The interior decor is simple and super hip and it has a little al fresco dining area out front. On this visit I ordered the rainbow salad with chicken and avocado, and the garlic fries. The salad came with dressing, but the pickled carrots were so flavorful that it didn't really need dressing and I ended up eating the whole thing without it. The garlic fries were like no fries I've ever had before....
On the pricey side with a gentrified twist of banh mi. You don't find some of the popular OG banh mi here and it's probably rightfully so to meet the taste for the demographic of the area. Even the menu names are a bit "Americanized"Order the steak banh mi that comes with a side of pho broth. Love having broth to drip banh mi into as it softens up the baguette but didn't worry about that here as the bread wasn't that great and came pretty soft like...
The catfish banh mi peaked my interest, and since it is a chain I went in with skepticism, but it went well above my expectations. The fish was flaky and moist, and the baguette did not sand-paper my mouth. Of course I had to grab an iced coffee on the side. A tad on the sweeter side, but not unbearable. Overall it is a notch more expensive for banh mi, but not many places have catfish banh mi (that I've seen) so would come again!
