Traveling solo from out of town, and was looking for a quick and easy breakfast spot for coffee and a ham & cheese croissant. This spot was perfect, but the neighborhood it's in seems really shady / unsafe. I walked only 7 minutes there and questioned multiple times whether to press on, or turnaround and go back to my hotel. I wouldn't walk - I would just Uber next time. The staff was super sweet, prices reasonable by SF standards. I'd go again, the cafe is a gem - just wish it was a little better outside the doors. Croissant was good, and as a coffee snob, the latte was pretty perfect.

Great service, nice and quick. Good coffee. Only issue is the outside area around it doesn’t feel safe. But we are grateful to the sweet lady who made my son a quesadilla with only cheese on a corn tortilla. Thank you!

Such a hidden gem!
The walk from the Hilton Hotel felt a little uneasy at times—maybe that’s just my perspective as a young woman—but once I arrived, I was so glad I came. The food was cheap, affordable, and absolutely delicious. You can really tell it’s a small business that cares about quality and service. If you can, I recommend going with someone just to feel a bit safer, but don’t let that stop you—this spot is 100% worth it. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a great meal on a budget!
p.s. I got the bacon burrito and medium Mexican hot chocolate which tasted AMAZING!

Huge thanks to the reviewer who raved about their sausage egg and cheese burrito since he was dead on -- it is exceptionally good. Crispy, savory, all ingredients in perfect proportion. Huge -- honestly this was a two meal burrito for me. With their salsa verde? Chefs kiss! I'm in town for a conference and will be going back tomorrow and ordering the exact same thing.

This sausage burrito saved my life! OK, so it might not cure cancer, but the sausage burrito here is truly outstanding. It is a perfect blend of a delicious tortilla, eggs, sausage, cheese so good that France will want to give the United States another Statue of Liberty, salsa, potatoes, and I’m pretty sure the cure for depression was in there as well. About a block and a half away from the union square Hilton, make your way over to this little gem and order the breakfast burrito. It may just restore your faith in humanity!

Tiny little hole in the wall cafe run by the sweetest staff. The tamales are INCREDIBLE. Right amount of spice, tender meat and so moist. I also had their breakfast sandwiches. MASSIVE! For SF, best bang for your buck. I stayed in the neighbourhood for 4 nights, went there twice - if I didn’t have to catch an early flight, probably would’ve been 3 times. Neighbourhood is sketch but…downtown. Everywhere is sketch

Really wanted to like this place but will never return. Online it shows open until 10pm on Saturday’s. My family and I walked 15 minutes from union square to Ellis street to try Cafecito and we came in to a group of employees standing around looking at us like a deer in the headlights. They didn’t even tell us anything they just stared super confused. We had to ask them if they were closed and they were like “yea?” Even though the door was wide open with the Open sign super bright.

Absolutely delicious! Carnitas is on point and coffee is very tasty. Highly recommended. Not in the greatest part of the Tenderloin, but worth the trek.
