Simple no-frills restaurant with affordable prices and fast service. We ordered the chicken wings, since we heard it may be better than San Tung’s but didn’t think so after trying. It is definitely a large portion for the $15 price though, way more than we expected. We also got the pan fried noodles and the wonton noodle soup and both were OK. Overall not bad especially for the price, but there are also many similar options around the area/city so wouldn’t go out of way to go here specifically.

During our tour of downtown San Francisco, we found ourselves extremely hungry. The recommendation of this place came from my son's friend. Despite the tight space, we ordered several entrees after my son assured me of their fried chicken's quality. Upon tasting, I was left speechless; the food is far superior to what I've experienced in Texas. It's indeed puzzling why Canton restaurants like this aren't found in Texas.

I like the Fried Chicken Wings with Salt & Hot Pepper at Capital Restaurant. It is better than most of the restaurants. The rest of the dishes we ordered are pretty average compared to the other Chinese restaurants in the area. The customer service is better than most restaurants in Chinatown, and the dining room is clean. I have a pretty good lunch.

Wings were perfect crispy, honey walnut shrimp was solid and pork ribs were right amount of sweet. Variety of seating options available. Solid overall, extra star since my 2 year old wouldn’t stop eating.

Some of the best Chinese food. Reminds me of a restaurant named Sai Wu in my hometown of Stamford, Connecticut. Small and intimate. Looking forward to going again

Not a bad choice for Chinese food around the area. Compared to the traditional Chinese food, it was quite close. I went for the wonton noodle soup and the most popular salt and pepper chicken wings. I must say the salt and pepper chicken wings was highly recommended. The only guy server was not bad as he tried to help when you ask for customized portion. He gave me half the salt and pepper chicken wings set which was good for me.

Decent Chinatown restaurant for lunch. Could get crowded with waiting for table as restaurant is not big

This was my first visit to Capital Chinese Restaurant, and overall the experience was disappointing. The staff at the cashier was rude and unwelcoming. My mom, my husband, and I were looking at each other, trying to understand what prompted the attitude, especially since we were being respectful, waiting our turn, and making sure not to cut in front of other customers. When is it ever appetizing to be rude to paying customers? It immediately set a negative tone for the meal.
Unfortunately, the issues did not stop there. The fork I was given had a grain of yellow rice stuck in between, which suggested it was not thoroughly cleaned. The walnut shrimp tasted more like a dessert than a savory dish, overwhelmingly sweet and easily the worst walnut shrimp I have ever had. The fried rice lacked flavor and was simply salty.
I have eaten at many Chinese restaurants across Asia and the Americas, and this experience fell far below the standard I am accustomed to. Given the strong reviews, this visit was genuinely surprising and disappointing.
