Little pre-Super Bowl Saturday brunch at Causwells. First timer, here myself. My friends would always tell me the burger at Coswell's, you gotta have it, you gotta try it, it's a great spot. Classic American fare, great atmosphere right on Chestnut, hell of a location. Got the deviled eggs. Were a little mid, but overall the burger, that brunch burger specifically, absolutely hit the spot. Will be returning. Would recommend it for travelers and locals alike. Excellent.

5 I really like this bistro/bar! Their cocktails are very solid and if you come here during the holidays, they have holiday drinks (excellent ones too). We drank basically the entire holiday menu and there were no bad drinks (high praise from me). Causwells holiday drinks def >> PCH’s, not even close. The vibe is chic, wooden bistro - good for dates or friends. I think the inside can be a little crowded during peak hours. Food wise, both the burger and schnitzel were good. Outdoor seating is heated and nice too. Highly recommend

The craft cocktails are amazing. Unique presentations and they taste great. Went for HH (pretty cool that they still honor it on weekends) and got some of their bites which were small in size but yummy. We got the salmon sliders (lox type salmon) and bread with dip, both nice bites to have with our drinks.

As for the drinks, the martini comes out in a bathtub, and the tom kha inspired drink came out in the fun takeout glass shown in the picture.

We had a quasi unintentional week layover in our former home city of San Francisco during our first visit to the states in a year, on our way from our other former home city of NYC back to Sydney, due to cancelled flights with snow.

I wanted to check out places in my old neighborhood of the marina (and also Russian hill) when staying in Dimond Heights, where my parents still have a house, which is far away from pretty much everything.

This came up as a happy hour spot and glad that we visited, as it was definitely our favorite happy hour spot of the visit.

The causwells martini is served in a small bottle on a bed of ice, they have outdoor and indoor seating - the only negative is the ambiance killing Covid seating which somehow is still prevalent in San Francisco? even New York did away with it years after saying they were, in London (where we mainly live) we only had it very briefly - but can’t blame them for that!

The servers were great, and my partner also had the espresso martini one visit, which, of course, are massively popular in our home city of London for over a decade now, so difficult to impress with those, especially since we make them at home, yet he was pleasantly surprised!

A small restaurant in San Francisco's Marina district next to the Presidio Theater. Reminds me of a smaller neighborhood Marlowe, with a long beer and wine list. We came for lunch, which has a compact menu. After many years, we returned and found the sandwiches much better. Service was fairly slow during lunch, with 2 servers running around.

Food Picks:
Deviled Eggs $6.75 Classic, Avocado, Smoked Trout - Good but not as good as Marlowe.

Kale Salad ($12.75) strawberry, orange, pistachio, feta, balsamic vinaigrette was a fruity healthy salad, before all the greasy burgers.

PULL APART BREAD ($13) red pepper & eggplant and herb & garlic dips arrive with the entrees. Egg free bread that was still warm. 8.5/10

BRAISED SHORT RIBS ($32) celeriac puree, mcginnis ranch heirloom carrot, shoestring potato are 2 large chunks of tender beef. Good flavors with the sauce. Not a lot but satisfying. 8.5/10

Americana burger ($22), cheese, Causwells sauce, lettuce, pickle, onion with mixed green salad. Top notch. Two thin greasy patties, lots of onions. Big enough for 2 people. Kids burger available. In 2019 we got it with fries which were pretty standard (+$2) Crispy onions are a huge pile.

Grilled Chicken Sandwich ($13) arugula, pickled onion, avocado, provolone, aioli is a healthier choice. Still pretty hearty.

Crispy Chicken Sandwich ($13.50) kale pesto, roasted garlic aioli, onion, charred lemon was done really well. Crunchy and not dry in the middle. Some like it better than the burger.

OK:
Smoked Pork Grilled Cheese Sandwich, onion, pickled jalapeno, swiss cheese, mustard $12.75 - OK but not special.

Overall - Very Good
Food - Very Good
Decor - Good
Service - Good
Value - Good

Would we come back - Yes

The highly touted burger was only okay. The flavor of the meat was just okay. We asked for the fries and onions extra extra crispy and they arrived cold and under cooked.

Was celebrating my granddaughters birthday, made a reservation was on time and as soon as I got there and checked in for my 5pm reservation the host asks if I will be done by 630pm. I thought that was very rude and said idk! Then he says never mind I'll work out something. So right away I wasn't feeling welcomed. On the other hand the food and drinks were delicious. But with that type of service I don't know if I will return.

Plastic cheese, no ketchup, server grabbed gf’s purse? And the chairs sit you a foot lower than the booth seats…

Great variety of food. Prompt seating. Excellent service. Very mindful of my dairy allergy and assisted me in making the correct choices for my best dining experience. Looking forward to going back.

Our (brunch) food, cocktails and waitress was wonderful. However, the hostess was not very pleasant nor made a good first impression. When we asked to change our table from the parklet to a table on the side of the restaurant, she appeared upset with the request and said it was not available due to happy hour starting at 3, but it was only 2pm- we dined two tables next to the one we requested and no one sat there while we were there. There was another couple who we overheard, asked to change tables, she asked if there was a “reason, because they reserve larger tables for happy hour”, when they finally were moved to another table, even those customers mentioned how they didn't understand what the issue was since several tables were empty. Overall food was great & super friendly wait staff which also brought me a dog patty for my pup which he loved.

Small, small portions. Too expensive for the setting. We sat in the covered sidewalk area, there were gnat swarms.

Terrific casual restaurant in the Marina SF. The food is delicious! Fun and unique drinks. The service was a bit slow and haphazard .

Their smash burger killed it, and it's a nice space. Service was great, and I'd definitely go back!
