Superbe! This is how it's done. You feel far removed from the outside world: an intentionally-crafted dining environment. The cuisine is: ecstatic. You have *no* other thoughts except, “This is amazing”. These people have le savoir-faire, without a lick of pretension. And- being greeted by the chef-owner when you enter, and when you leave?? These people *want* you to: En-Joy.

We're not Chapeau! virgins, but we had a truly enjoyable experience. The service was kind and excellent. The owner saw us stopping to let me off to claim our table and ran out and said "Are you dining here? Take the spot!" even though it was marked off with a cone. We were greeted warmly inside. Among the dishes we enjoyed were the kabocha soup, the mushroom and cream vol au vent, the cassoulet, the pork loin, and the filet mignon. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Two of us also had the wine pairing, which left me a bit soused at the end of the evening, but it's so much fun, I would probably do it again. I'm so glad this San Francisco gem has survived the pandemic and post-pandemic to continue dishing out top-quality food and hospitality to San Franciscans and those from beyond.

From the moment you walk through the front door it feels like you're coming home. The chef and everyone who works at Le Chapeau is happy to greet you! The food is prepared so expertly, and plated beautifully. Never disappoints. We love Le Chapeau!

Outstanding as always. We've been going to Chapeau for 20 years and have never been disappointed. The owners are lovely, warm, and welcoming. The food is top tier but also very approachable. The ambiance is personable, gracious without ostentation. The cocktails are quietly fabulous. The wine always suits. It's basically the ideal restaurant.

I came in with high expectations, but the experience left me extremely disappointed.

First of all, be mindful about the 🤑TRAPS IN PRICE🤑: if you order a 3 course and add an extra entrée or appetizer, they charge whichever item is more expensive as the “extra.” And seeing a 5% SF mandate fee at checkout — with no prior mention — was infuriating.

The kitchen completely ruined the meal — even after clearly stating that I cannot eat raw food and confirming I needed my filet mignon well-done, it still arrived medium-rare🥩(not even a medium!). The highly recommended cassoulet was also so salty🥵 that no one could finish it.

The only good part was the service, the servers were kind and attentive even during rush hours. But great service can’t cover up for serious kitchen mistakes and the unreasonable charges.

Ate at the bar. Very comfortable. Sohen efficient and proficient at an array of cocktails. Hadn't tried the mesclun salad before - - delicious.

Dining here is like if you had a french grandmother who is a professional chef. It feels like home and tastes like a million bucks. The service is friendly and excellent. Such a gem of a place!

We had an early dinner reservation for two. The owner team was very welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious and well prepared. The noise level was quite reasonable before 7:00 but got to be quite loud after 7:00. All the dishes were good. While the portion was on the small side for the price, the scallop starter dish was excellent.
