Chloe’s Café is one of those rare San Francisco treasures that has managed to keep its heart and charm through the decades. I used to live catty-corner from the restaurant, and my weekend ritual was to peek out the window at the line before heading down — because yes, there’s always a line on weekends (and for good reason!).
It’s a small, cozy spot with only a handful of tables inside, but after COVID they expanded to outdoor seating, which made it even more inviting. Still, expect a bit of a wait — the food is absolutely worth it.
The menu is to die for, but the banana walnut pancakes deserve their own round of applause. Fluffy, perfectly caramelized, and subtly nutty — I’ve never had better pancakes anywhere, period. Add in friendly, efficient service and the charm of being right on the J line at Church and 26th, and it’s easy to see why Chloe’s has been a neighborhood favorite for so many years.
If you’re looking for a classic SF breakfast spot with soul, this is it. 🥞☕

Nice breakfast place during the week. There can be long lines on the weekend.

Very greasy French toast, also comes with a ridiculous amount of strawberries. Service was okay, it would be nice if they had heaters outside.

Servers and the manager couldn't care less. So many people left while they were waiting. We still waited because we saw good reviews on Google. The host manager was rude, didn't bother about the food reaching us and we waited 1 HOUR to get the food. Horrible service. The host and the servers are doing a huge disservice to the place.

The most appalling dining experience of my life.
From the moment we arrived, it was a masterclass in rudeness and incompetence. The host? Cold and dismissive. The server? Equally unfriendly. And the food? Late beyond belief.
We arrived at 11:50 AM, patiently queued for half an hour, and finally sat down at 12:20 PM. We ordered almost immediately — within 3–5 minutes. But while tables around us, who ordered later, were served, ate, paid, and left… we sat there, hungry, waiting, and watching.
After checking with our server three times, the host finally came over.
Me: “When can we expect our food? People who ordered after us have already eaten and left.”
Her: “You ordered for three people, that’s why it’s taking time. Anyway, it’s coming out now.”
Me: “Are you doing us a favor by serving food?”
Her: Looks me dead in the eye. “YES. Don’t come next time.”
That’s right — she actually told us not to come back.
And when the food finally arrived at 1:05 PM, the moment was so soured that even the first bite felt like a defeat.
This wasn’t just bad service — it was disrespect served on a plate.

Nice cafe with lots of yummy brunch options. It's has outdoor seating and of course is very popular making getting in a bit of a challenge sometimes.
This is probably one of the better spots left in Noe Valley for brunch and you can do take away if there is no hope of seating.

Great cafe in an area that looks to have a number of strong options. Came here on a visit to SF. The whole menu looked tasty and went with the bagel sandwich. It was a bit of a wait for a party of 3 so plan ahead to dine in. The take out window is a great touch for to go

Good service, breakfast burrito was really good and then home fries are delicious. Didn’t love the egg salad.

Delicious brunch that was unfortunately let down by the slow service. My mom and I arrived around 12:15pm on a Sunday and had about a 15 min wait before being seated inside. We both ordered chai lattes and I ordered a create your own scramble with chicken apple sausage, spinach, and feta with mixed greens and fresh fruit and my mom ordered the breakfast burrito with mixed greens. We had a ridiculously long wait for our drinks. The chai lattes were served after 30 mins in to go cups as we were told they didn't have any clean mugs. A person who came in around the time our drinks were served was also served their food before us. The latte was good and I loved my scramble! The side salads were much larger than I was expecting and the fresh fruit was delicious and probably the best tasting I've had at any SF brunch spot. Unfortunately due to our experience with the slow service, I don't see myself returning.

I had the Florentine scramble. Generous amount of spinach and just the right amount of cheese. It was good. Great? No. The coffee was extremely watered down. The bread & butter was good. Frankly, without good coffee, the meal was lacking a lot. The service is good, but the seating is extremely limited inside. I would recommend going there, but I'm sure there are better places. My honest take.
