Cheap and cheerful. Delicious and great value for money.

I ordered the egg and cheese bagel with avocado extra. Perfect. The jalapeños in the bagel were a great touch.

I will most certainly be back.

I will come back to this coffee shop any time I visit the city. There was a man following me down the road, I thought I’d gotten rid of him but he showed up at the coffee shop as I was ordering, stood right behind me, and tried to order while I ordered.

I told them he was not with me, the man insisted that he was. I told them I didn’t know him and that he was following me and the man at the shop got the phone to call the cops after he said he wouldn’t leave. He helped me check the street after I got my coffee as well.

They were so kind to me, made an amazing latte, and made sure I left safely. They’ll have my loyalty any time I’m in SF and I’ll be sure to send my local friends to them as well.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Mellis Cafe!

The coffee was far too hot. I had a bagel with egg and found it rather carelessly prepared. No herbs or any other ingredients. Nothing.

My wife and I experienced San Francisco for the first time, and right outside our hotel, Hotel Nikko, we discovered Mellis Cafe. The customer service was excellent, and the food was just as impressive. It’s the perfect spot whether you need something quick in the early morning, a convenient bite during the day, or a sweet treat after a night out. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better.

I visited Mellis Café early on a Sunday morning and was immediately struck by how busy and lively it already was. It’s clearly a popular spot, with a steady stream of customers coming through the door, which usually speaks volumes about a place.

Despite the bustle, the staff were welcoming and efficient when taking orders. I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese bagel on a cheese bagel, which came to around $10 — very reasonable by San Francisco standards, where breakfast prices can often be noticeably higher.

Unfortunately, my order seemed to get lost somewhere in the system, which meant I ended up waiting just over 20 minutes for my food. While this was a little frustrating, it was clear that other customers were being served quickly, so it appeared to be an isolated issue rather than a wider service problem.

When the food did arrive, it was well worth the wait. The bagel was fresh and flavourful, with a good balance of fillings that made for a satisfying and tasty breakfast. The quality of the food definitely left a positive impression.

Overall, Mellis Café offers good value for money, tasty breakfast options, and a vibrant atmosphere that shows its popularity with locals and visitors alike. While my wait time was longer than expected, the quality of the food and the generally efficient service mean I would happily return and give it another visit.

A wide selection of cakes, delicious coffee, and fresh fruit. A great breakfast with a spot in the sun. Sure, it's right on the street, but it's a fantastic city kiosk.

Perfect hole-in-the-wall place to grab a sandwich and drink for your breakfast while you're on the go. Everything is fresh and the service is fast.
