Food tastes fine! Service is excellent! Too bad overall it's not a great experience.
The portions are tiny for the astronomical prices. 3 people in our group, we ate one dish each and had one non-alcoholic drink each... $120 without tip. Plus, it is so loud both indoors and outdoors that we could barely hear each other talking.
Please do not patronize this Cafe. They are price gouging. Even compared to last year's Bouquets to Art Exhibition. The slice of (cold) quiche for $27 was half the size of last year with soggy pathetic greens out of a bag on the side. I can't believe they are getting away with the prices they charge. $30 for a small-one person-chicken pot pie. $7 for an average cookie. I beg you not to dine here until they reduce their prices and improve the quality they deliver. If the De Young wants people to enjoy art, don't make the experience exclusively for the ultra rich (and by the way, they should demand better too). Provide food trucks or other vendor opportunities for food options. Thumbs down.
The most expensive sandwich in my life and it wasn’t even decent.. the bread was old and hard, the filling was bland - super disappointing. The cakes are 9-10$ a piece 🫠
We went to de Young Cafe to have some lunch after strolling around, we ordered their hotdog and pulled pork sandwich. The flavours of the food were delicious however, for the portion of the food, it was overpriced. We did not order any drinks with our meal, as the food alone was around $40-$50 in total.
We come here for years and loved the place. Today was the last time. The food choices now are rather questionable, nothing can really be shared any longer. Sandwich and burger? I had a sausage, which died of a cold stroke in a soggy bun and came without mustard, but with raw (?!?!?) sauerkraut for $25? (I’m German and feel personally insulted :-) No fries with chicken any longer. It was probably too popular with the kids. It was taken off the menu to make things more healthy according to the manager… but instead of Pellegrino and multiple juice options, you now have coke, a lot of coke… and all meals seem to come with chips now, in essence THE high end option every chef chooses when he runs out of ideas, or had no ideas in the first place. Or it’s just part of the healthy revamp of the menu.
What a shame, this place used to be awesome.
The worst customer service i ever expierenced. Do not go here for a drink
This is a lovely art museum in Golden Gate Park with a very diverse offering. It's not an art world icon, but a nice mix of style and lesser-known works by well-known artists. Each room is well curated and presents a strong theme. The layout is a bit confusing and some rooms are closed, so I recommend following the map to make sure you don't miss anything. There are also ticket checks as you enter and exit the ticketing area, so keep your sticker visible! The main special exhibition at the moment is on the lower level by Tamara de Lempicka and it's fantastic! Her style is excellent and the array of art on display is stunning, with great demonstration videos. There's also a gift shop and cafe here as well as an observation tower (the elevator is located in the ticket office area) which, on a clear day, offers beautiful views of San Francisco! The outside is worth a look as there are also lots of statues dotted around!😊
I’ve never eaten such a small and expensive pastry, even though I’m from Switzerland. $9 for this! The cappuccino was also very pricey. It wasn’t cozy either—more like a cafeteria atmosphere, and you had to stand in line to order. Overall, not really worth it. The lunch menu is somewhat more reasonably priced in comparison.
If you are in San Francisco, you must not miss the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park! 🏛️ This is not only a paradise for art lovers, but also a great place to experience culture and creativity
Went recently for lunch. The chicken Caesar was very ordinary and overpriced. The beef stew was amazing. I certainly wish I could get the recipe.
I feel that the cafe is overpriced and I wish that more people could experience it.
The staff is very professional.

So slow with expensive yet uncooked cafe food. AND there was someone’s NAIL in my food. This visit left me vomiting profusely the entire next day. SF Department of health needs to do a checkup
